I walked up to her front door with the rose hidden behind my back in one hand and knocked three times.

I could hear the sound of her coming down the stairs and waited impatiently for her to open the large wooden door and let me in.

  Going Biker

  Chapter 1

  LYSSA

"Code red! Code red!" Another nurse is shouting as I try to care for the patient currently bleeding from cracking his head open on the playground. I take a deep breath, the chaos of the ER swirling around me. I love the thrill of my job, the fast pace, the rush, the craziness. But most of all I love helping people, especially children. The blood finally slows down and I apply a local numbing gel so I can begin stitching.

My shift ends in an hour and I am more than ready to go. I am finishing up a double, covering for someone else. It's mid morning on a Friday and I have been working since last night. I have the rest of the weekend off, my sister's bachelorette party extravaganza happening tomorrow night.

I am going to go home and get as much sleep as I can before her party starts tomorrow. It's starting early, as we are having our final dress fitting in the afternoon, then having dinner, then going out drinking and dancing. I tried to get out of the last part but none of the girls would let me. I don't like to drink or party but I guess I will try to have fun for my sister. This is a once in a lifetime event. Or so we hope.

After finishing up the stitches on the child's head, I do a few more rounds and then go sit down to finish paperwork before leaving. A hot shower and a hot meal are what I am desperately craving right now.

My mind can't help but wander back to the events of tomorrow night. I feel a spike of anxiety when I think about going to the bar. I know, I must sound like the biggest dork. I really am a fun person; I just have different ideas of fun.

I make it home a half hour later and collapse on my couch, kicking off my shoes. I sit for a minute, trying to gather my thoughts. My shift had been rough. A lot of emergencies and sad cases. Sometimes I ask myself why I got into this field since there is so much sadness. At the same time, I like helping people, making them better, and especially making them feel good. A child looks up to you as if you are their hero. I will never forget the faces of the children patients I help make better.

After showering and eating some lunch, I climb into bed. I really just want a nap as I still want a full nights sleep later. I drift off only to be woken up a few hours later by a pounding on my door. "Lyssa! Lyssa! I know you are in there!" Shit. It's my sister, Leslie. What the hell does she want?

I make my way to the front door while Leslie keeps banging on it. "Chill, Leslie. I am coming." I open the door and there is Leslie, her face swollen and red, her eyes brimming with tears. I immediately bring her in for a hug. "What's wrong Les?"

I shut the door behind us, leading her to my couch. She hiccups and sniffs. "Oh Lyssa, it's James. He's having cold feet. He isn't sure he wants to get married now." After saying that all in a rush, fresh tears pour down her cheek.

I try to reassure her as best I can. “This happens all of the time. I am sure it is nothing and he will be fine. He is just having some anxiety.” Leslie shakes her head, tears still pouring from her eyes. “No Lyss, he seemed like he really didn’t think he was going to be able to do this. He was asking if we could push it off a bit longer.” She began to cry harder. "What am I going to do, Lyss?"

  Chapter 2

  COOPER

I plunged deeper inside her, each thrust going faster and faster than the last time. I don't even know this bitch's name but I don't care. She is here just to pleasure me and then I won't ever see her again. Just like every woman before her.

And sure enough as soon as we are done, she gives me a quick wave and she is out the door. She was an easy one. Sometimes they linger. I really hate that. She must have known how I work. In my case, the rumors are true. Sorry to say but I am not ashamed of it. I live my life the way I want to live it.

I run my hands through my hair and collapse into bed after locking up. It’s time to get some shut eye before a long day at the studio tomorrow. It is my weekend to work and it is looking to be a long one at that. A lot of appointments tomorrow and even more Sunday. I didn’t understand why people loved getting tattoos on Sundays but it is always the busiest day.

Plus, Sunday night is always dinner with my parents. I groan just thinking about it. More lectures about how I need to straighten up and get my shit together. Why can’t they just see I enjoy my life? I like riding my motorcycle and tattooing people. I like having different women. I don’t want to be tied down to one and I have never met one that makes me feel like settling down.

My mom just bitches that I need to think about a future, marriage, children. I know she wants grandchildren, and she puts the pressure on with me being their only child, but damn give a man a break. She also worries I am going to die on my bike, constantly asking me about my helmet and other safety shit. I drive safe, always have. I wish she would just relax.

I will say I need to cool it at the bar when people piss me off. I tend to get fired up quickly when people are idiots or assholes and I am not afraid to say something. I can’t even count the number of times I have gotten into a bar fight, several of them leading to my arrest. Thankfully my father is good friends with the police chief and I barely have a record. But they aren’t going to keep letting me slide. I just enjoy the thrill of the fight, hearing someone’s face crack underneath my knuckles. It helps me to get the anger out. If people didn’t spew such shit from their mouth, it wouldn’t be as much of a problem.

The next morning arrived quick as it always does. I arrive at work for my first appointment at eleven o’clock, trying to get my head in the game. Saturday mornings are meant for sleeping. I am glad I only work weekends once a month. I make a lot on the weekends from all of the appointments, one weekend is plenty for the month. Occasionally I will pick up extra hours. We all work for ourselves in this shop, renting our own spot. It comes with the support staff, including a receptionist and someone who takes care of the money. It couldn’t be better.

John comes in a few minutes after me. “Hey bro. How goes it?”

I nod at him. “What’s up, John? You got a lot of clients today?”

“Just a few. I’ve been coming in every Saturday lately to try to make some extra money. I want to put my daughter in private school so we are starting to save.”

“I don’t blame you, bro. I am here all day, doing my monthly weekend duty.” Just then, my first appointment rolled in. An old client of mine, adding to his sleeve on his left arm. “What’s up Mark? Long time no see!”

Mark comes over, shaking my hand and nodding to John. “Yeah, couldn’t decide what to get for a while. But I am ready now.”

The day passes quickly. Having a lot of clients can be a good thing. It sure does make the time fly. My long time friend hit me up while I was on lunch asking me to go to the bar with him tonight. I haven’t seen Luke in a while and I never turn down an invite to go to the bar. Drinks, chicks, and a good fucking time.

I meet Luke at a downtown bar, one I usually don’t go to as it is a bit fancier than my taste but makes really good drinks I must say. I slid in the closest spot, my bike roaring in response, women already checking me out. That’s right ladies, Cooper Riggs has arrived.

I find Luke already chatting a woman up at the bar, my favorite drink of rum and coke waiting for me. “Hey Luke, my man, how’s it going?”

Luke turns to me, giving me a bro hug, and pushing my stool out for me. The woman he was chatting with takes it as her cue to go. “What’s going on Coop? Glad you made it out.”

  “I never turn dow
n an invite to a bar, you know that. Plus, to hang out with you? A bonus, dude.”

Luke laughs. “Still the same Cooper I know well.”

Just then a group of women enter the bar, loud and rowdy as hell. I turn to look back to see who these women are but I don’t recognize any of them. It is just another bachelorette group. The bride leads them in and they head over to a reserved area in the corner. They all look three sheets to the wind already.

One looks up suddenly and catches my eye. I don’t break her gaze but instead offer her a slow, sexy smile. She smiles back shyly, glancing nervously at her lap. She is fucking beautiful. I feel a spark between us and she is all the way across the room. I look at Luke. “I’ll be right back.”

I get up and make my way over to this mysterious woman. I need to meet her now.

  Chapter 3

  LYSSA

  Oh. My. God.

The hottest man I have ever seen in my life is making his way over to our table right now and I am pretty sure it’s because he wants to talk to me. I flush and fidget with my fingers. No one else at the table has noticed what is going on, they are all pretty shitfaced at this point. We have been drinking since this afternoon when we all had our final dress fittings.

James and Leslie worked everything out, thank God. He was just having doubts, getting scared, all the normal typical things people feel before taking such a huge step. He came around and everything is perfect again. Leslie hasn’t stopped chugging the drinks since she slipped into her wedding gown a few hours earlier. She downed several more at dinner along with her other friends. I am the only family here, as we don’t have many cousins that live locally. The other four women are Leslie’s friends, her maid of honor being her long time best friend. She asked me if I would be offended if she asked Sarah instead of me but I was totally fine with it. I figured Sarah would be better at the wedding prep than I would be anyway.

I am feeling tipsy but not nearly as drunk as the rest of them. This hunk of man steps up next to me at the table and grabs a chair, sitting beside me. The rest of the women still haven’t noticed. They are so into each other and taking selfies on their phone.

“Hey there. I’m Cooper. I couldn’t resist talking to a gorgeous woman such as yourself. Related to the bride are you?”

Nerves are running through me like fire. My face feels like it is burning red and I am not sure I can even think a coherent thought right now, never mind say something. He chuckles, giving me that sexy smile once again. “Don’t speak English or something?”

Now it’s my turn to laugh. Just then a waitress brings the table a round of shots and the ladies finally come to. Leslie calls out, “Whoa, whoa, who is that sitting next to my sister?”

Cooper grins, his beautiful, chiseled face lighting up. “I’m Cooper. Nice to meet all of you lovely ladies. I couldn’t help but notice how gorgeous your friend here was so I came to talk to her.”

“That is my sister and you better be good to her.” Leslie wags her finger at Cooper and I just want to melt into the floor. Why does she have to be so embarrassing?

“Hey, who is the older sister here?” Cooper swings his eyes back to me, laughter playing in them. I down my shot without waiting for the rest of the table. I need some liquid courage. I hold my hand out to Cooper and he slides his warm hand into mine. A spark of electricity zaps between us and we both jump. What the fuck was that?

“Hey, Lyssa! You were supposed to take the shot with us!” They all do their shots but I can’t tear my eyes away from Cooper. I pull my hand away quickly, trying to recover from the spark that just flew between us.

Cooper’s eyes darken as he whispers to me. “Lyssa is it?”

“Y..y..yes.” I finally stammer out. I shake my head to try to clear it. Shit I need more alcohol. As if he was reading my mind, he signals the waitress to bring another round of shots, his treat.

We all do the shot together this time and now I am feeling the alcohol beginning to course through me, a pool of liquid fire brewing in my stomach. “So, Lyssa? The bride is your younger sister I take it?”

I nod and the waitress comes back with our drinks we ordered before. I take a sip of my watermelon margarita, the frozen concoction sliding down my throat smoothly. The rest of the girls quickly pound their drinks then head off to the dance floor, throwing me darts because I didn’t go with them.

I turn to Cooper. “You see why I am here tonight, what brings you here?”

Cooper nods to his friend at the bar, the one I saw him sitting with earlier. “I met my friend here for a couple of drinks.” His friend is now busy chatting up a few ladies that surround him.

“And you are just going to abandon him?” I ask. Cooper shakes his head. “No, no. We have a bro code.”

I laugh. “A bro code? For real?” I didn’t even think those really existed. “Yes, what’s so funny about that?” He asks seriously but laughter is playing in his eyes. “Nothing really. It’s just I didn’t know men actually used those.”

“Well Lyssa, you learn something new every night. So what’s your story? Is there a man waiting at home for you or could I possibly buy you a few more drinks and steal a dance?”

I laugh. “I don’t have a story. No man for me. Just enjoying the singlehood. But I could possibly make an exception for you tonight, depending on a few things.”

“Oh yeah, what are those few things?” Cooper watches me as I sip my drink. “Well…” I start. “For one, you have to know what I like to drink. And for two, you need to be able to dance well.”

“Oh Lyssa, just you wait and see. You have never had the Cooper Riggs treatment.”

I let my eyes roam over him. Fuck he is hot. He has muscles for days, his arms beefy and his pecks well defined. His casual long sleeve shirt hugs him in all the right places and I can tell he has a hot six pack underneath. His arms look to be tattooed as I see some peaking out of his long sleeve shirt on both sides. I also see a few on his neck. His waist is lean and his legs look firm and taught. I bet he could throw me around the bedroom. I shiver with desire. I have never had a man this hot speak to me before, nor have I felt this instant desire and lust to be with a man. I really just wanted to take him to the bathroom and rip his clothes off.

Slow it down girl. He looks like he is trouble. His face is beautiful, too beautiful. I am sure he picks up chicks all of the time. He already had the waitress bringing me another drink and I could feel his eyes roaming my body. Maybe it is the alcohol or maybe it is the effect he is having on me but I am starting to not care if he is bad or not. I want him.

We sip our second drinks and my sister and her posse still haven’t come back yet. They are doing shots on the floor and grinding their asses. Cooper’s friend is no where to be found either. He doesn’t seem to care though; his eyes haven’t left me for more than a few seconds.

“How about another shot and we hit the dance floor?” Cooper asks, his eyes lighting up. “That sounds good to me. I hope you can keep up with me.” Fuck Lyssa, what are you doing? You aren’t that great of a dancer, especially when you are drunk so why are you challenging this fine piece of man?

“Oh I am sure I can, babe.” We sling our shots back and he pulls me to the dance floor. The alcohol starts pulsing through my blood, the roar of the music beating through my head. The room is slightly spinning but not so bad that I need to sit. I feel fucking awesome. I was dreading this party but now I am having an amazing time.

Cooper and I quickly meld to each other, our dancing moves syncing as if we have danced several times together before. It is crazy that I have just met this man. Leslie and I catch each other’s gaze and she throws me the thumbs up. She is dancing around her girlfriends, all of them having a blast. I feel a tinge of guilt, not being there partying with them. I am kind of being selfish. But Leslie gave me a thumbs up, so I don’t think she minds.

Suddenly, Cooper pulls me tight against him and I can feel his hard bulge press into me. I gasp. He leans back and smiles at me, a very s
exy mischievous smile. I know what he is thinking about. He nuzzles his neck into mine, trailing kisses along my neck. I shiver, desire coursing straight to my middle. I am burning between my legs; I want this man so bad. His lips are almost to mine and my brain is screaming no, Lyssa but my body is screaming yes.

I give in to my body of course. Fuck my brain today. Cooper crushes his mouth against mine, the kiss rocketing through my entire body. I melt against him as he wraps his strong arms around my waist, his fingertips grazing the top of my ass. I could kiss this man all night.

Cooper deepens the kiss but keeps us dancing. My head is spinning. The alcohol is making me lose all sense and so is this kiss. I break away, needing some air. Wanting to get in control of my head.

“I…I..need to sit.” Cooper nods and leads me off the floor back to our seats. I plop down and take a few big gulps of water. Damn, that feels better. Cooper is watching me, his eyes full of laughter.
