  “I didn’t want to say anything in case you thought I was only saying it because of what happened tonight” I shrugged “Hell I didn’t want to admit it to myself let alone anyone else”

  “Admit what?” he coaxed

  “That I’d fallen hard for some arrogant irritating Hollywood Marine”

  “What the hell are we like” He scoffed a little “Fighting one minute, breaking an apartment having the most amazing sex ever the next… Well I think this relationship might have a fair few fireworks in it” he pulled me to hm and hugged me “But I don’t care, I didn’t give up and I got what I was after”

  “Is that what you do go after it till you get it?” I laughed walking away from him to the couch and sitting down, Ryne walked over and sat next to me

  “Something like that” he nodded “Go after it and make sure it’s right” he leant forward and kissed me

  “You think we have enough time to really annoy Brit” I laughed.

  “Depends?’ he narrowed his eyes at me. I got up quickly and pulled him toward her room stripping off the t-shirt I had on as I went.

  Chapter 57

  One place to the next

  Brit and Marek came back with the pizzas, Ryne and I were sitting on the couch.

  “Okay so what happened with you two?” She handed me the boxes I put them on the table while she got the plates that weren’t broken from the cupboard.

  “What do you mean what happened” Ryne laughed you saw the mess we made of the apartment

  “Okay I wasn’t talking about you banging seven bells out of my cousin” she walked behind him and Gibbs slapped him “I was talking about how did you finally get to the point of explosion”

  “I guess the weeks of crap and fighting boiled to a point after seeing Justin tonight” I looked at her She dropped the slice of pizza

  “Here he’s here”

  “He was on the board walk” I nodded she scrabbled to her feet and went into Jacks room “What are you doing?” I got off the couch and went after her. She was in Jacks Closet in the safe in there

  “Something that my Dad should have done instead of listening to you” She pulled out the handgun from the safe “He fucking raped you and he thinks he can come here where we live and pull some shit” She was mad “Not going to happen”

  “Okay you need to think rationally and put down the damn gun” I walked over to her and shook my head “Ryne beat the crap out of him” I took the gun from her after hearing the guys hurry to the door

  “Brit” Marke’s voice was soft and soothing how the hell could someone sound like that saying one word “Aly’s right you can’t just go out there with a gun” I walked over to the safe and put it back inside and locked it

  “No she can’t shes’ the worst shot in the family she’d take out a flock of damn seagulls first” I laughed

  “Aly after what…”

  “Brit look at my hands” Ryne walked over to her and held them out showing her the bruises “Believe me if he comes back after what I did then he needs a mental facility… and I’m here to protect her” he looked at me

  “If I see him on the boardwalk he’s fair game and I’m getting my shot in” she pulled a face

  “Marek will you just take her to bed and work the tension out of her” I sighed sitting on Jacks bed “We’ll go and leave you guys alone. Ryder’s just going to have to deal with me turning up”. To be honest I wanted to be on base where I knew Justin couldn’t be.

  “Take you’re truck” Brit pulled the keys from her pocket “and call me in the morning”

  “I will” I nodded they walked out of the room leaving me and Ryne “You’re more than welcome to come back to mine if you want” I looked at him “I’m not quite ready to let you go”

  “Deal” he smiled pulling me to my feet “As long as you don’t mind getting naked with me again”

  “Wow youo’re good” I grinned pulling off Jacks shirt and putting my dress back on “I thought you’d need some sleep”

  “Yeah right after wanting to get you into bed for the past what 6 weeks if we had a week I wouldn’t need to rest” he laughed. “I have to swing my my place to pick up some things because didn’t you say something about riding tomorrow”

  ‘I’d forgotten about that” I nodded “Okay make sure you have jeans”

  “is that it”

  “Yep I think you’d prefer not to have your bare ass on a hot saddle” I patted his ass as we walked out of the door “I’m fine if you never put another shirt on again”

  “Tell you what you follow me to my place and then we can just take your truck back to the base and I’ll bring my stuff for tomorrow and my uniform so I can go right to work”

  “Sounds good” I followed him to the newest apartments that had been built that over looked the ocean from a bluff. I parked behind him and got out “Okay so if I’d known you were this fancy I’d have jumped you’re bones earlier” I teased as he held out his hand to me.

  “Okay my Parents got the place for me and Ana while she’s at nursing school here” he shook his head “It’s a little too snobby round her for a simple marine”

  “So move there’s housing on base… there’s a few apartments in the building where Brit is” he unlocked the door to a ground floor place and flipped on the light dark wood floors stretched out in front of me to a living room with an overstuffed Black leather couch that screamed to he jumped on (literally) . A large picture window that would obviously give views of the ocean all the way home to Lejeune in the day light was split only by a sleek white fireplace I turned left to see a Black kitchen cabinets with slate tile under them, on the wall hitting the granite work surface. Off to the side a dining room table with a vase on filled with blood red roses. “Damn fancy” I whistled. “And you’re a Marine on your pay scale WHY?”

  “Because the uniform gets the girls” he chuckled pulling me with him up a steel flight of stairs

  “Two storey”

  “It’s the bed rooms up her” he shrugged “I’ll go make sure Ana’s okay first” he pointed me to a door “You make yourself comfortable in my room”

  “Okay does that mean I get to snoop?”

  “If you like” he nodded I pushed open the door the room was Deep blue with ivory accents and the bed was huge and all twisted iron work, I bit my lip and imagined the fun we could have in that bed again the same picture window that was down stairs filled the front wall with a balcony facing the ocean. “Hey do you have your phone” I jumped as Ryne walked into the room

  “Yep” I pulled it from my pocket

  “Okay call your brother”

  “Why?”

  ‘Because my little sister isn’t in her room”

  ‘So what’s that got to do with Ry…” I trailed off “You think she’s there”

  “Well if she’s not I want to know where the hell she is”

  “You called her”

  Yep and I swear Ryder answered it” he nodded “then I tried her again and it went to voice mail” I dialed Ryder

  Ryder * what?

  Me * okay I know the sock’s on the door but I need to come home

  Ryder * no

  Me * why?

  Ryder * the socks on the door and that’s enough reason

  Me * okay Ryne wants to know why you’re banging the ass of his little sister

  There was a squeak in the background and muffled talking

  Ryder * for the same reason he wants to bang the ass of my little sister because she’s hot as hell… his sister not you, you’re just Icky

  Me * really you need me to tell Ana about the reason we use a sock on the door, and the icky things you were doing to that cheer leader because I’m sure you weren’t supposed to use the back door

  Ryder * Oh my god ALYSSA

  I looked at Ryne who was dying leaning on the end of his bed

  Me * just so you know I’ve been bounced from place to place tonight because of you and you’re horny loins.

  Me * I’ve found somewhere I’m going to stay but just so you know. We bumped into Justin in the boardwalk

  I hung up the phone and turned it off

  “Okay I really don’t think when I know my sister is with your brother I need to know what things he gets up to with a girl” Ryne shook his head

  “I know but I had to get it in there he called me icky” I pouted Ryne Laughed and took my phone and tossed it on to the small couch he had in his room damn it was half the size of Brits apartment in here.

  “Well I don’t think you’re icky” he chuckled using the word “and I think going on base is out of the question now he slid the straps of my dress down my arms letting go so it pooled at my feet “Okay where’s the underwear?”

  “On the ceiling fan in Brit’s Living room” I winked “You asking me to stay here with you”

  “Hell yeah” he nodded pulling off his T-shirt “I’ve only had this bed since we got here… it needs testing”

  Chapter 58

  CAUGHT

  Light filled the room I was warm and comfortable under the covers there was a breeze blowing in from the slightly open door that lead to the small balcony. I sat up Ryne was sitting on a chair out there opening envelopes and talking on his phone. I got up and picked up the blanket from the couch and wrapped it round me and stepped out on to the balcony with him.

  “Yeah Mom don’t worry it’s fine” he looked at me and moved the enveloped putting them on the small table and patting his lap “Mom don’t you dare you stay there” I kissed his neck “No you know Ana I and miss you” I trailed my fingers down his chest and toyed with the band on his shorts “No it’s just not a good time with work and everything” “He rolled his eyes and smacked my hand and smiled at me as it tried to dip under the elastic. “Mom I swear to god everything’s fine” he squeaked as my hand carried on south “Mom I have to go something just came up… I have to get ready to go to work… I’ll tell her to call you… Yes I love you too” I hung up the phone. “Okay that’s so wrong when I’m talking to my mom” he smiled pulling me so I had a knee each side of his hips.

  “Yeah well I just woke up expecting a replay of last night and no you’re out here sitting in the sun checking your mail and talking on your phone” I smiled “You have a girl who you claim is hot lying naked in your bed and you blow me off or mail”

  “Okay I see you woke up in on feisty assed mood Miss Tanner” He tugged the blanket away “I was trying to let you sleep a little incase I’d been too much for you” He brought his head forward and kissed my collar bone.

  “Yeah right I was raised with Marines Hollywood I can’ take whatever you give me”

  “Oh I know that I think I have the teeth marks in my shoulder to prove it’ He grinned He stood up making me yelp as I thought I was going to hit the floor He caught me and walked back into the bed with me. “You want more I can give you more” the door down stairs banged making us both jump. We could hear the sound of voices and then footsteps coming up the stairs “Oh my sister has such timing” he groaned as he kicked off his shorts “She’d better not knock” he smiled as I pushed him back on the bed and worked my way down his chest kissing and nipping at his ribs.

  “Ryne did we…” The door opened “Oh dear… Er… Oh no…”

  “MOM” Ryne spluttered throwing the comforter over me well at least his junk wasn’t on full show thanks to my…. I froze and moved to the side still under the cover I heard the door close “Oh shit” Ryne pushed back the covers “I’m sorry” he was horrified

  “Well I met the mother-in-law naked and giving her son a b…” The door knocked

  “We’ll be in the living room when you’re done Ryne” there was a mans voice. I looked at Ryne

  “I’m coming Dad” Ryne groaned

  “Don’t rush for us take your time” I put my hand to my mouth to stifle the giggle Ryne was now beet red.

  “Stop laughing” he hit me with his pillow “And mother-in-law” he looked at me I shrugged

  “figure of speech unless you lied to me and you don’t love me and last night was a one night stand” I hit him back with the pillow.

  “Yeah right a one night stand” he got up and picked up his shorts from the floor. “I do love you” he walked over and kissed me “I’ll go damage control till you come down” he walked to the door

  “Like hell I’m coming down” I shook my head “I’m the wanton hussy dragging her proud Marine son in to the depths of carnal sin”

  “Oh my god where do you pull shit like that from” He groaned trying not to laugh

  “My ass” he walked out and closed the door behind him I reached for my phone and called Ryder.

  Chapter 59

  WTF

  I paced the floor wearing the dress I’d gone out in the night before minus underwear which were still as far as I knew decorating Brit’s ceiling fan in the living room of her pace. The bedroom door knocked and Ana put her head round the door smiling at me and held out a bag.

  “Oh I love you” I grinned as she came in and closed the door.

  “I think I got everything you wanted. Ryder did help but refused point blank to go in the underwear drawer” she put the bag on the bed and my cowboy boots on the floor “So what happened Ryder just said you had said something about not having clothes and then my parents turned up”

  “Hmmm” I nodded pulling the things from the bag “We were sort of in a compromising position and you’re Mom opened the door” Ana bit her lip trying not to laugh.

  “As in you were…”

  “I had my head in your brother’s lap while both of us were butt naked” I groaned.

  “I’m sorry that’s funny” she burst out laughing

  “Okay then since when have you been getting hot with my brother”

  “I was helping with his dressing’s”

  ‘Okay and I was checking for ticks on Ryne we both know that’s bull shit” She stopped laughing at me “Hey look I don’t care who my brother sticks his weenie in but I like you and this is Ryder”

  “Okay so I don’t know from that which one of us you’re protecting” She leant on the bathroom door while I quickly showered and dressed pulling my hair up into a messy bun “But I really like him he’s sweet and kind and funny and a Marine”

  “I get the Marine thing but are you sure you knocked boots with the right guy because all of the other stuff ain’t him”

  “Alright put it like this I have no clue what the hell you see in my arrogant brother after some of the fights you two have had” I looked at her

  “Point taken” I nodded “What a way to get introduced to your boyfriends parents “Oh Mom, Dad meet Aly sorry she can’t say hi she has her mouthful” I flopped back on the bed

  “Boyfriend?”

  “We sort of got into an argument last night”

  ‘Unusual for you two” Ana joked

  “I know… but after a few things got broken I said something to someone about being glad that the Marine I love had Tattoo’s and he made me say it again to him and he told me he felt the same” I couldn’t hide the smile on my face.

  “Whoa back up Ryne’s told you he loves you?” She truly looked shocked

  “Yeah… why?”

  “Ana Mom and Dad want to see you and its not fair leaving an injured Marine to fend for himself” Ryne was standing in the door way to his room.

  “Okay” Ana got off the bed and walked by Ryne and looked at him “Love really”

  “Yeah” he murmured. “And I will okay”

  “You’d better” I cocked my head and watched the two of them Ana walked away and down the stairs.

  “Okay then” Ryne’s face changed from a pained one to a smile “All you need is the cowboy hat to go with the boots” he chuckled

  “Oh I have that in my truck” I smiled “What was all that about with Ana?”

  “Nothing don’t worry about it” he put his hands on my hips “So my Mom is wa
nting to crawl into a pit for walking in on us and my Dad wants to take me out for a drink” he chuckled “You ready to meet them?”

  “No not really” I shook my head

  “Come on they won’t bite and because Ryder and Ana are here we can sneak out and you can take me riding like you promised” he smacked his hand on my ass

  “Then will you tell me what was going on?” I asked as he went to get the mail from the table on the balcony and close the door

  “It’s nothing my sister has never thought I’d have a meaning full relationship that’s all so telling someone I love them is huge” he handed me an envelope “I got that for this Friday coming and I was wondering if you’d be this Marines Other half” I took the letter out and smiled it was the Marine summer ball.
