“You know I love you…” I nodded, his reasoning was racing round in my head was it true would I be showing more if it was Justin’s baby… Was it more than I could hope that he was right for once a marine was thinking with his head and he could be right.
Chapter 94
Finding out
“Aly” Ryne shook me a little “I need to call your Mom” he lifted me and sat me on the counter and roughly wiped his eyes on the towel wrapped round his bloody hand “you sit there” he kissed me quickly My head was spinning with the past 30 minutes.
“Ryne… what if it’s not?” I trailed off as he looked at me so much hurt and pain behind his eyes.
“I’m going to make a call” he murmured He walked away from me and picked up the phone and dialed. I felt my stomach lurch I jumped down and headed for the bathroom making it in time to Throw up I could her footsteps behind me and a hand on my back. “No she’s okay… alright call me back” My hair was pulled back as I slumped against the toilet. “Morning sickness?”
“I don’t know” I groaned “I’m stressed; I’m so terrified of…” I looked down at my stomach.
“Did I scare you?” I nodded
“Ryne I’m confused right now” I shook my head
“Aly…” the phone started to ring Ryne sat on the side of the tub as he answered it. I got to my feet and ran the cold water splashing it on my face. “Your Mom’s made a few calls and we need to go to the Hospital now and they’ll get us in”
“NOW” I felt the nausea wash over me again
“Yes” He nodded “We need to know… I need to know… You need to know” he shook his head “Aly this could be huge for both of us”
“Or you could just walk out of the door” I bit hard at him
“I could but I’m not about to” He pulled me to him “You think I can turn off my feelings for you… You think I want to imagine how much pain you’re in wondering if this baby is a rape baby” those words hurt. “I get told that I’m being sent home because the guy that raped my girl is back and has had his brains blown out… I get here and find everything falling apart including you”
“Oh I’m sorry if I’m not holding it together right now for you Marine” I stepped away from him “I’m sort of dealing with shit and not very well… Right now I should go back to the range put the gun to my head and solve the problem for all of us” I walked out of the bathroom.
“Are you fucking kidding me” Ryne ran after me and spun me round “Don’t you ever talk like that again that’s selfish to even think like that you have too many people that love you”
“You included what if we go there and this isn’t your baby…?”
“Then we cross that bridge when we come to it, but I’m not about to bail Alyssa. I’m not going anywhere and the sooner you get that into that thick stubborn assed head of yours the better” He grabbed the keys from the side “Now are we going to go to the hospital or are you going to carry on sinking into a hole” he opened the door to the apartment “Baby please” he voice had softened and his eyes were pleading with me. I walked by him and nodded.
Mom and Dad were waiting for us as we walked into the lobby of the hospital.
“I don’t know why we didn’t get the doctor to do this right away” Mom sighed hugging me to her making the tears threaten to overflow “Honey I’m sorry about not thinking”
“You guys okay?” Dad put his hand on Ryne’s shoulder “What the hell happened to you?” he held up Ryne’s hand
“He punched a mirror in his apartment” I said looking round at them.
“I think you need to get to the ER” Mom let go of me and took Ryne’s hand “I’ll go check Aly in at radiology J.J. go get his hand sorted out”
“I’m not going anywhere” Ryne shook his head “We’re here for a reason and that reason is Aly”
“And you’re bleeding through that damn towel” Mom put on her don’t mess with me voice “What good are you going to be up there right now with blood dripping everywhere Ryne think clearly you want to be here for my daughter then you get yourself sorted and then you haul ass upstairs and we’ll go from there” Ryne blinked at her a couple of time “Do I make myself clear Marine”
“Yes Ma’am Crystal clear” Ryne Mumbled
“Aly will be fine” Dad sighed “and don’t’ try to argue with my wife she can be more stubborn than my daughter” Ryne opened his mouth to say something and then hung his head.
“I’ll ask them to wait till you get there” I said quietly
“Thank you” Ryne nodded. Mom put her arm round me as Dad took Ryne away to the ER
I paced the floor as Mom flipped aimlessly through a magazine we’d been called once and we’d asked them to wait for a little while longer, but had been warned that this was an appointment that was squeezed in so they could only give us another 20 minutes. The elevator doors opened and Dad walked out with Ryne.
“Are you okay?” Mom asked getting up.
“I got 20 stitches in my hand but no permanent damage” Ryne shrugged “Have you…?”
“No” I jumped in “I’ll go and let them know you’re here now” I walked to the desk.
“I think we should let Ryne and Aly go in alone” Dad said sitting next to Mom as Ryne came over to me.
“And what if the baby is Justin’s… how do you think that Marine will handle it let alone how our little girl will handle it” She shook her head "We’re going to go in there with them and we’ll back out quietly if it’s what we all want and it’s Ryne’s baby” Dads nodded. They took me back first to get me into the gown and onto the bed before they called Ryne back with Mom and Dad. Ryne sat next to my head as the gel was put on my stomach. Mom and Dad stood behind Ryne both of them watching the screen as the tech moved the wand over my stomach clicking on certain things.
“Well there is definitely a baby there and there is only one” She smiled “See this flickering” she pointed to a flashing on the screen. I nodded “That’s your Baby’s heart beat” My heart was in my throat, and I don’t think Ryne was even breathing “So the note from the doctor said we need to confirm the gestational point as off today”
“Yes” I croaked
“Well we have a good looking baby at…” she looked at the screen again and froze the frame of the picture.
Chapter 95
Will it be okay?
“Okay then so we have it coming out to 10 weeks 5 days” She smiled at us “and you’ve had no morning sickness or anything like that” she printed off some pictures and then turned to wipe my stomach clean of the gel “I was sick from the minute I got up to the minute I went to bed for the first 4 months of my last pregnancy” she grinned.
“I Need to” I scrabbled to get off the bed and bolted for the bathroom Dad came after me
“I’m sorry I think talking about it sometimes makes them feel ill” She handed Ryne the pictures “Congratulations Marine”
‘Can you give us a Minute?’ Mom asked
“Sure” She nodded and picked up the note file and walked out. Ryne sat looking at the strip of pictures in his hands.
“You okay?” Mom put her hand on his shoulder.
“It’s my baby” he whispered turning his eyes to look at here “It’s not his”
“I know” She smiled “I think you should go and find Aly because she’s going to need you right now”
“Yes Ma’am” He grinned before pulling her to him and hugging her tight “I’m going to be a Daddy”
“Oh Damn I’m going to be a Grandma” She sat down as Dad walked back in “Oh hell you’re going to be a grandpa”
“I know” Dad grinned “and a hot one at that” he looked at Ryne “Aly’s getting dressed” he pointed to a door “Go wait for her” Ryne nodded and walked out and stood outside of the door. I pulled it open and looked at him.
“It’s our baby” he smiled “It’s mine and yours”
“Can we go back to yours?’ I asked leaning on the door frame
“I never stopped loving you I just didn’t want to hurt you” I shook my head Ryne reached for my hand linking his fingers with mine. Once again the silence that was between us lasted for the journey back to his apartment. We walked inside. The glass was all gone and the wall was now void of even the fram from the mirror there was a note on the table.
“Well it looks like I owe my sister for cleaning up the mess” He chuckled as he read the note “You want to take a shower or anything” He rested his hands on my hips as he stood behind me
“No I’m just going to brush my teeth” I sighed “But I wouldn’t mind being in bed with you”
“Yes Ma’am” He smiled pulling me behind him I walked into the bathroom off from his bed room and brushed my teeth and pulled my hair into a messy bun before I washed my face, I slipped off my jeans and looked at my reflection. I looked like a ghost with how pale I was right now the dark rings a sign of the stress from the past week’s events. The door opened and Ryne walked in and stood behind me wearing just his pants. “I was getting lonely Miss Tanner” He chuckled “I have the pictures of our baby by the bed” he slid his hands round me so they were both resting on my stomach. I leant back into him and closed my eyes “You want me to carry you to bed”
“I can walk” I smiled turning in his arms to face him “I’m sorry for being mean and the things I said”
“It’s okay I think we both…” I pressed my lips to his and kissed him. I wanted to feel him close to me. I wanted him to know what he meant to me. “Damn” He gasped as he pulled my tank off over my head “I missed this” He kissed his way along my jaw “I missed you” I worked on his belt as the need from both of us consumed every rational sense we had. He carried me out and put me on to the bed My legs pulling him to me as he held himself over me. “I love you” he breathed his lips trailed a line from my throat to my stomach “and I love you too” he kissed my stomach before coming back and kissing my mouth his body pressing into mine making the pain and the hurt go away replacing it with the feeling of safety and love.
Chapter 96
KNOCK WILL YOU!!!!!!!!
Ryne was propped up on his elbow his bandaged hand lying on my stomach.
“Are you okay?” I asked rubbing the back of his head.
“I don’t know” he sighed moving back up the bed and putting his head on the pillow next to mine “I’m still in a state of shock” he touched the side of my face “Were having a baby… In there” he poked my belly gently “Is our baby… oh crap do you think he felt what we just… I mean, we sort of…” he got flustered.
“No I’m sure it’s okay” I rolled on my side to face him “we’ve been together 3 months and we’re already having a kid and he?”
“You know what I mean he she whatever this is our baby” he kissed me “and we should have been a little more careful in the safe sex stakes but work it out what did she say ten weeks five days” I nodded he rolled over and picked up one of the pictures and snuggled back up to me holding it so we could see the perfect outline of our baby “This munchkin was probably conceived against the side of a Humvee”
“Oh jeez” I groaned
“What it was quick but hot as hell” he chuckled.
“Nice the first time I have you in dress blues you get me knocked up” I teased.
“You mad with me?” he tucked a piece of hair back behind my ear
“No why?”
“For getting you this way”
‘It takes two and I think I was more than willing” I rolled him on to his back and straddled him “Hell I have my Marine and my nightmare seems to be all over” I took the ultrasound picture from him and put it on the night stand “But I think you need to show me how it happened” I bit my lip and watched the grin spread across his face. The door knocked and opened.
“Damn it” Ana backed out quickly as Ryne rolled me to the side and pulled the covers over us.
“ANA SERIOUSLY” Ryne grabbed the sheet and got out of bed and bolted from the room. “YOU’RE AS BAD AS MOM AND DAD” he grabbed his sister.
“I’m sorry I didn’t think you were here and I wanted to get something from your closet” Ryder was leaning against the counter “And aren’t you supposed to be blowing shit up?”
“I was brought back because of what’s been happening with Aly” he smiled tying off the sheet “I missed you as well Sis” he hugged her to him.
“I missed you as well” I walked down the stairs in Ryne’s shirt Ryder looked at me his face full of worry.
“I had to tell Ana guys” he sighed
“I know” I nodded
“You could have told me” she looked at me
“I didn’t want to tell anyone, hell I didn’t tell anyone till I saw him” I poked Ryder in the stomach. “And then it sort of snowballed out of control” Ryder chewed the inside of his cheek
“We went to the hospital this afternoon” Ryne pulled me to him “After we argued and I broke shit” he chuckled Ryder went literally green
‘It’s not… I mean it can’t be the off spring of that Mofo Cow ass” he gabbled “My Niece can’t be his”
“Niece?” I shook my head "and Mofo Cow ass?”
"Something Brit calls Justin” he shrugged “and yes I’m putting in my request to have a little girl because Marines look so good with little girls” He nodded
“It’s not the Mofo Cow Ass’s baby” Ryne laughed “It’s our baby and you know damn well you’ll love it boy or girl” He nudged Ryder
“True” Ryder grinned as Ana burst into tears and hugged the life out of me and then turned on her brother.
Chapter 97
Finally over
“I think I’m going to go take a shower” I said as Ana finally let go of Ryne.
“I think we need to go out and celebrate” Ryder grinned “If you guys feel up to it” he added Ryne looked at me.
“Well what do you think?”
“Call Brit and Jack and we’ll go out for a while” I nodded, I walked upstairs.
“How’s she doing?” Ryder asked when I was out of sight.
“Hell of a lot better than she was when we first got here” Ryne shrugged “It was rough earlier, hell was it rough. My job is easier than what we went through before” He sat on the couch
“Is that why the mirror was broken and your hand is bandaged?” Ana sat next to him
“You know me” he looked at her
“Would you have hit her?” Ryder asked making Ryne look at him
“Hell no… Damn it even if it had of turned out to be Justin’s kid I would have stuck by her” He put his head in his hands “I love you sister so damn much there’s no way I could have left her for something that wasn’t her fault”
“You wouldn’t have walked away”
“Has she told you my story?” Ryne looked at Ryder.
“No” Ryder shook his head
“I was almost married to a girl I’d dated since high school only she couldn’t handle the Marine Life and when she got pregnant, she couldn’t deal with me not being there and she went to get rid of the baby” Ana linked her fingers with Ryne “Things went wrong and she died and I wasn’t allowed to know where the funeral was and I still don’t know where she was buried”
“Wow I’m sorry” Ryder shook his head
“It was three years ago and the reason I became an EOD” Ryne leant back on the couch. “She’ll tell you” he looked at his sister “I was a mess, I didn’t care if I came back from a deployment in one piece, hell I’m still a damn Sgt because fo the crap I’ve pulled” He sighed “Until I poured beer over your sister in the pool hall and I wanted to get to know her”
“Well I think you’ve certainly done that” Ryder Chuckled “Hell you’ve done way more than that”
“I guess I have” Ryne laughed “Dude I know you’re protective of your sister because I’m the same with Ana”
“Yeah you’re the first guy he hasn’t questioned” Ana Laughed “I’m going to go get changed” she got up and kissed Ryder before she walked away.
“I’m not expecting you to drop down on one knee to Aly” Ryder said looking back to Ryne “But don’t hurt her”
“That’s the last thing I’m going to do”
“What propose or not hurt her?” Ryder started to laugh.
“Okay I’m not going to answer that” Ryne got up “I’ll get dressed and at least go give your Dad his truck back”
I walked out of the bathroom as Ryne walked into the bedroom.
