  “Cassidy.”

  “Yes, Sir.”

“Will you be able to travel this weekend?”

“This weekend?” She didn’t look happy about the prospect, but she agreed that she could. “Of course, Sir.”

“Good, so we will be leaving this evening after work.”

  “Oh, okay.”

  “Is something wrong?”

She shook her head that there wasn’t. Cassy would have to make sure Kathleen would watch her son, and she wished she had more time, but Cassidy reminded herself that she needed the job and the insane salary that Mr. Wo offered.

“No, not at all. I just didn’t get to tell Shaun that I was going to be leaving. Do you know how long we will be gone?”

He shrugged, not really sure. “It takes six hours to get to London and then from there, we have two more stops in Europe.”

“Oh.” Here she had been thinking that they were going to Ohio for some meeting. Cassidy had never even been outside of the country except for a trip to Mexico when she was in college and on spring break. “I didn’t realize you meant that kind of traveling.”

  “Is there a problem?”

He kept asking that, but she would never tell him that she was nervous to even go that far, never having left her kid overnight before. There were so many problems, but she just shook her head that all was well. There was no way that her employer needed to know any of that.

“No, I have just never been that far away before. I have only flown once when I was little for a funeral. We were jammed into these small seats in coach. It was horrible.”

William just smiled. “I am sure you will find traveling with me a little more palatable.”

  ***

She didn’t get his last statement when he made it, but as she boarded the private jet that was waiting to take him wherever he wanted to go. There were no lines of cramped seats and even though the plane was much smaller than a commercial one, the interior made her feel like she was in something much bigger. Cassidy smiled at him and he surprised her by actually smiling back.

“I was starting to wonder if you actually smiled at all Sir.”

The words made him stop immediately and she found herself finding that even funnier. He was constantly so rigid and expressionless that it was nice to see a crack in his façade, even if it was small and only for a split second.

William did not answer her, but instead went back to his phone and make a few calls while she looked around the inside. Her chair was soft under her fingertips and everything was light beige and it reminded her of the inside of his office. The carpet under her feet was thick and she had a moment where she wanted to take her shoes off and see just how soft they really were. She had to stop herself from all of her normal antics, though, knowing he would not approve.

The silence was enough to get her up and pacing, but instead she excused herself to the restroom. When she got back out she felt a little better, splashing water on her face to cool herself down. Again he asked if she was okay.

“Why do you always ask me that?”

“Because you look distressed quite often.”

“And you don’t ever seem to be bothered.”

“There is nothing good that comes from stress. It takes away from a person’s focus.”

She smiled to herself, thinking of a way that she could distract him from his focus. The man didn’t seem to do much more than work all the time. She could see the stress in him when he closed his eyes and rubbed his shoulders. He was doing it again, as he told her all about living with no stress.

“You do seem distressed now, Sir. May I help you?”

William wasn’t sure what she was talking about and didn’t have time to answer one way or another before she was standing up and walking towards him. It was only a short distance away and he didn’t try to stop her.

The man’s muscles in his shoulders tightened as she touched him lightly. “Relax William. I don’t know how you can focus when your muscles are so knotted.”

He should have stopped her. It wasn’t appropriate, especially when he was trying so hard to convince himself that she was off limits. Her hands were amazing though and she quickly had most of his kinks worked out. The best part was the sway of her breasts on his back as she moved down his arms. He stopped her with a hand on hers when he had had enough. His body was going to explode if she kept touching him. She had to know what she was doing to him.

“Better?” Her words were whispered in his ear and the sound, the hot breath made him shiver. His head nodded slowly and then she was gone, her fingers off of him and he wished that he hadn’t said anything. She sat back down and he was left fighting the surge of need that flooded through him.

“You didn’t have to do that.”

  “I know.”

“I mean that it isn’t part of your job.”

She nodded and looked out the window. It gave him time to adjust himself and get the signature look of control back on his face. They were just getting to Europe and it was her first glimpse of the city. It was exciting and Cassidy could feel a little excitement from just being there. She was sure that she wouldn’t get to see much of the place, but it was enough just to be there.

  Chapter 4

“Sir, your four o’ clock is waiting in the board room. Would you like me to sit in and take notes?”

William was not paying attention, his mind places where it shouldn’t have been. Looking up at the vixen that had taken over most of his thoughts, he just nodded, not really hearing her. He was staring at her full lips, wondering what they would taste like.

  “Sir?”

  “Yes?”

“Did you want me to sit in? I wasn’t sure your answer.”

He was always so precise, so definitive, but he wasn’t since they had come back from Europe a week ago. Now all he could think about was her breasts brushing up against his back, the words in his ear, the soft hands on his shoulders.

  “No, that will be fine.”

She felt miffed but didn’t say anything else. It had been awkward since she rubbed his back and he was treating her much like the plague. He wasn’t in his office as much and a couple of days before had given her an office of her own, ‘so that she would have more room.’ Cassidy knew that it was because of her touching him on the flight and if she could take it back, she would have. It had changed her mind about him as well.

William was so different than anyone she had ever been with. Sure, he was richer than her ex, but it was the way he carried himself that made her want to try something new. It was really the wonder if he could hold that control of his or if there was a way to make him lose his cool. She wanted to see him bothered, needy, passionate. It was all of the things that she knew were in him, but it was all behind the stern face of his.

Going back to her office, she wished that she was back in his office. She had learned a lot about him with their time together and had enjoyed the conversations. He had a way of making her forget everything that was going wrong and only what was going right.

“Babe, we need something to drink in here. Do you have any beer?”

Cassy was pulled from her musing by one of the men that was supposed to be waiting in the boardroom. The name and title given did not really suit her well, but she smiled up at him and told him that she would send it in shortly.

“I didn’t realize that Will had such a pretty secretary. I would have come in sooner for these quarterly meetings.”

She didn’t answer the man. He was what she thought rich men were like. Mr. Smithon acted like he owned the world and Cassy was just another thing to own in it. He had a look of smug assurance that he would get everything that he wanted and Cassie was now on his radar.

William walked out into the hallway as the man was leaving her office and he glanced in at Cassidy. He could tell that she was upset about something and he figured that it had something to do with Randy Smithon. It wasn’t the first time that the man had made advances to his staff that were not
welcomed.

  “You okay?”

Cassy smiled up at him, one of those heart-melting ones that she was rather good at. “Of course, Sir. Mr. Smithon requested something to drink. I will have it to you in just a few moments.”

He stopped her. “He will be fine without it. Why don’t you go ahead and take your break now.”

It was more an order than a command, but she knew either way, like everything he said, William meant for her to follow his directions.

  “Yes, Sir.”

  ***

By the time she got back, the meeting was over and she started to get her things ready for the weekend. There wasn’t much else for her to do that day and it looked like she was going to get the weekend off. It wasn’t until William came back and asked if she wanted to go out with him.

“Anything you need Sir. Let me just make a call.”

  “Who are you calling?”

“My friend to let her know to take care of Shaun a little longer.”

  “That is your son?”

She nodded, knowing that he already knew about her son.

“I do not want to ruin your plans. It was not business related.”

“Why don’t you come down and have dinner with me? You must get sick of having all your meals in restaurants anyways.”

William was taken aback by her offer. He agreed before he even thought about it really. He wanted to spend time with her. He didn’t think about the rest of it, just that he could see her for a little longer. William had spent most of the week keeping her from underfoot, but now he was over pushing it to the side and acting like there wasn’t something between them.

“Good. Do you want to just drive over with me?”

He shook his head, he couldn’t let go of control that much. “How about you ride with me and I will have someone bring your car home for you?”

Cassidy agreed, knowing how he was. It didn’t take long being around someone all the time to know that he had to be in control of everything. The way he had avoided her for the last week had her worried about her job, so Cassy was eager to smooth things over.

“Good, everyone likes my cooking and I made a big pot of gumbo.”

He repeated the last word back to her with a slight accent and she just smiled. “It will be fine.”

  Chapter 5

“I think I like him, Cassy.”

“How can you not?” William was courteous and so good looking. His clothes were made for him and he filled them out quite well. Cassy couldn’t take her eyes off of him and the fact that her son took to him seemed to seal the deal for her. There was something between them and she wanted to see what it was.

“Let me take Shaun over to my house. You two have a drink…”

Her friend’s mind was much like her own. It was one of the reasons that they were, in fact, friends. “Are you sure?”

Kathleen put the last dish up onto the strainer. “Girl, yes. You do your thing. He wants to watch that movie I rented anyways. It will be fine. Just call me in the morning and I will bring him home.”

She thanked her and went to ask Shaun if he wanted to go over to her house. The young boy was pulled between wanting to stay and wanting to go, but in the end, a movie and a later bedtime won out.

  “He is a great kid.”

“Thanks, I think so. He seemed to like you as well. You were a natural with him. Do you have any of your own?” Cassy had done her own research, but since he was so private about his life, there was only speculation.

  “No, not yet.”

  “Ever been married?”

He shook his head and took a drink of the concoction she had given him to drink. It was much like her cooking, strange new flavors.

“I am starting to think you work too much.”

William watched her sit down next to him on the couch. She had changed into an ivory dress that slid up her thighs as she sat down. The contrast to her skin made William want to know what it looked like on his own. It was a strange conversation to have with an employee, but with Cassidy, there didn’t seem to be the normal limitations of position.

“Someone has to keep it all running.”

  “I suppose they do.”

Her dark eyes met his and she wished for a moment that he would kiss her. Cassy was no longer under any false assumptions about what it was that she truly wanted.

William saw it to, felt the need to kiss her, the need to be with her. Something was holding him back though and it was only when Cassidy once again made the first move that he relented to his more basic instincts.

Pushing her back into the cushions and leaning in, he finally kissed her, something that he had wanted to do for some time. She tasted just as he knew she would and made a soft sound of pleasure that drove any last misgivings away.

She pulled away as his hands moved up her dress. William took it as she wanted him to stop and sat back, his dark eyes blazing with need. “Come with me William.”

William took her hand and followed her back to the other room. He pushed her onto the bed, no longer being able to stop himself. Her eyes told him that she wanted it and Cassy’s whimpers said the rest. Pulling her clothes off slowly, he took in every inch of her and every difference. She tasted sweet and his hungry mouth made her mewls turn to screams. William had complete control of her body, taking her higher than she had ever been before.

He stayed the night holding her. Cassy woke up with him leaving. “Where are you going?”

  “I have work.”

Cassidy moved the sheets aside, tempting him back into the bed. “Are you sure you have to work?”

William looked at the smooth, dark flesh in front of him and was unable to stop himself from being pulled back towards the bed. She might as well have been a siren. He was unable to stop himself from moving forward to claim her once more.

  ***

The two never officially started dating, but it was something on-going between them. William was staying over at her apartment more and more and Cassy was starting to think that maybe she was going to have a second act in love. The problem was that she was head over heels and had even slipped out that she loved him, but he didn’t return the same words back. He kissed her softly and took her until she would beg for no more, but he never talked about his feelings.

It drove Cassy a little crazy, not knowing what he was thinking. She knew that he was different, was raised differently. His affections were different, fewer words and more actions. He made sure that she always had lunch brought to her when he needed her to work through her break and he even bought her another car when her old one finally gave out. William made sure that she had everything she needed in all aspects of her life, but he never said the words that she wanted to hear more than anything. It would seem that actions would mean more, but they didn’t. She really wanted to hear him say the words. Was it really that hard for him to just say the words?

Cassidy was feeling moody and irritable. She had been more and more so as of late and she knew that it was her own confusion of where she stood with William. When they were together she didn’t care, didn’t think about the fact that he was her boss, but when they were at work she was reminded every time he called her to his office. He was so professional, so different than when he was in her bed at night. It was like William was two different men and Cassy wasn’t sure which man was real if either of the versions of him were.

“Are we going to dinner tonight or staying in?”

Cassidy looked up from her screen that had a report she still hadn’t written. He was looking so serious, but his dark eyes held what he truly wanted. She shivered on the inside and even in the middle of her mood, she wanted him.

“It’s up to you. Shaun is staying the night with Charlie after he stayed last weekend.”

  “Whatever I want?”

She nodded, but there was a way that he said it that made her pause. What was going on in his mind?

“I don’t know if I should say yes or not.”

  There was
a smile on his face for just a moment, but it was there. “Come, I was hoping you would go on a little trip with me.”

  “Of course, Sir.”

William smiled again. He really liked it when she called him that for some reason.

  Chapter 6

  “So where are we going?”

“You don’t like surprises do you?”

His hands were on her neck, running through her thick black hair. He had an infinity for the thick curls and it made her think about what always came next.

  “Sometimes.”

Cassidy moved her neck to the side as she felt his breath on her skin. It was the most sensitive part of her and like everything else, William just seemed to know. Her hand grabbed his and then pulled them down to her shirt, letting him grab a big handful of her breasts. She moaned as his teeth bit her flesh, making her shiver.

The plane moved slightly and it brought him to the seat next to her. Cassy whimpered with the man’s hands off of her. “Can you not wait for your surprise?”

She shook her head that she couldn’t. Like with every time that he touched her, she wanted more. When William didn’t move to touch her again, she whimpered. Cassidy knew that he was waiting for her to make a move. William liked her to initiate their lovemaking, but he almost always took over before she could really get started.

Cassidy moved to sit on his lap, her back to him. She leaned back, her hands on his thighs as she ground against him. His lips were back on her neck and then nibbling on her ears, as her hips rolled on him over and over again. She could feel his hard body getting harder. He was always so ready for her and that evening was no different.

“You really should learn some patience.”

  “Uh huh.”

Her hand moved between their bodies, pulling his zipper down as she continued to rub herself on him. William’s hands had found their way back to her chest on their own, pulling the straps of the dress down to reach the bare skin. “I see that you don’t have anything on underneath that dress.”
