She laughed. “He’ll kill you if he hears you say that.”
“Ah, but if I’m in your arms, I’d die a happy man.”
“I’d really rather you didn’t die at all.”
“Whatever my love wishes.”
“I am so going to quote you on that. But maybe you’d better get a start on convincing me to marry you.”
He reached for her then and it was like coming home.
If home was where the heart is, then hers was in his arms.
Epilogue
Lexy pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. She had everything she’d ever wanted and more. Her new family sat at the dinner table, laughter flowing as readily as the wine. Daniel was next to her, his arm along the back of her chair. Max sat on her left and Papa was next to Daniel’s Grand-Papa. Jacques and Maya completed the set, making everyone feel as though the house was theirs as well. Marie and the rest of the staff seemed ecstatic to have the family enlarged and back in residence.
Next month the house would be even fuller when Santiago, Genevieve, and Miranda came for a visit from Argentina. Lexy had been surprised to hear that her friend and Max’s former nanny had married Daniel’s half brother within a month of starting to work for him. She looked forward to hearing the story behind that whirlwind romance.
A shaft of light from the chandelier sparkled on Lexy’s huge engagement ring. It hadn’t taken Daniel the full hour to convince her to marry him. Even better, they’d worked out a compromise for the next two years at least. Daniel was going to continue to drive and when he raced in countries where they didn’t feel comfortable taking Max, then her son would stay with Maya and Jacques. Maya said she’d need all the hands she could get to help with the twins she was expecting. When Max started school they’d reevaluate. And in the meantime, Lexy was going to continue her psychology studies without having to worry about working and paying bills. Problems would undoubtedly come up. But she knew that as long as they trusted in their love, they’d make the right decisions.
“Daniel, when you marry my mummy, can I call you Daddy? Andrew let me borrow his daddy, but I’d like one of my own.”
“Absolutely, Max. In fact, if you don’t want to wait, you can call me Daddy now.” They’d talked about this and were prepared for the question.
“Can I drive your boo-cat-ee?” That one they hadn’t discussed.
“Ah, no.”
“Oh, well. Nonno said I could drive his Ferrari,” Max announced.
Papa choked on his wine. “I said when you get older you can drive for Ferrari.”
Everyone at the table laughed. Her heart swelled. She never imagined she could be this happy.
And this was just the beginning.

About the Author
Alexia Adams was born in British Columbia, Canada and travelled throughout North America as a child. After high school, she spent three months in Panama before moving to Dunedin, New Zealand for a year where she studied French and Russian at Otago University.
Back in Canada, she worked building fire engines until she’d saved enough for a round-the-world ticket. She travelled throughout Australasia before settling in London—the perfect place to indulge her love of history and travel. For four years she lived and travelled throughout Europe before returning to her homeland. On the way back to Canada she stopped in Egypt, Jordan, Israel, India, Nepal, and of course, Australia and New Zealand. She lived again in Canada for one year before the lure of Europe and easy travel was too great and she returned to the UK.
Marriage and the birth of two babies later, she moved back to Canada to raise her children with her British husband. Two more children were born in Canada and her travel wings were well and truly clipped. Firmly rooted in the life of a stay-at-home mom, or trophy wife as she prefers to be called, she turned to writing to exercise her mind, travelling vicariously through her romance novels.
Her stories reflect her love of travel and feature locations as diverse as the wind-swept prairies of Canada to hot and humid cities in Asia.
