When we’re done I drop to the side of her, trying to avoid putting any weight on her.
“Are you ok? Are you cramping?” I ask worried that I may have hurt her.
“Seriously? After that you’re still worried about me? God I love you,” she laughs and kisses me.
“I was told to watch out for cramping in case it hurt the babies. So please just tell me if you’re cramping?”
I’m not above begging. I know it’s probably not the best time, but I can’t lose her or the babies. Especially now that I know one of them is mine.
Chapter 13
Evie
Last night was amazing.
Ky and I spent our time making love together before we talked about the baby. I’m glad he was happy about one of the babies being his, but it still didn’t chase away the fear of Mike and Teddy being unhappy that the babies aren’t theirs.
My entire life I’ve hated secrets, and even though I thought keeping it to myself was a good idea, I didn’t understand how hard it would be for me to keep it from them. I’ve almost slipped up a few times now and it’s been making my anxiety worse.
Today is a new day and I’m going to tell them before school so fingers crossed they take it well.
I grab my stretchy, blue dress and throw it on with a pair of black leggings then check myself out in the mirror.
This dress does an amazing job at hiding my pregnant belly, but you can still tell I’m bigger than I was a few weeks ago. Hopefully, if it gets around that I’m pregnant, everyone will assume I’m early along, and even though I’m almost 6 months along in development, I’m not showing as much as you’d expect.
I’m definitely going to have to go shopping and get some new clothes that I can fit into to hide my belly before it pops out.
“Morning,” I call to everyone, seated at the table. They must have been awake for some time now because everyone’s already ready to go.
“Morning princess. Did you sleep well?” Teddy asks, moments before Ky comes around to give me a quick peck.
“Yeah. It was ok,” I say trying to keep the blush from my face, but they all see and share grins. Damn it, they know. Ky has a shit eating grin on his face. Now I know who told.
“You know just because we’re bonded doesn’t mean you have to tell each other everything,” I say exasperated.
They all keep smirking, and I do my best to ignore them while I gather some cereal for breakfast. I need to eat now in case I can’t at school.
“We know, but we’re relieved. We thought you wouldn’t want to touch us again now that you’re pregnant so it gives us hope,” Mike says, boldly throwing a wink my way.
I didn’t even think they would feel that way. I just assumed with me being pregnant, sex would be unappealing to them, so I never brought it up. Most of what I read in the books Christian had, said that men didn’t find pregnant women attractive despite the fact that a woman is more sexually charged than normal.
“Sorry guys, I just thought you wouldn’t want to have sex with me, while I looked like a whale, so I tried not to initiate it. I’ve been horny this entire pregnancy, but I didn’t want to pressure any of you.”
I talk between bites, but it’s still hard to get it out between mouthfuls of cereal.
“Are you kidding me?! If anything, you’re more attractive to us being pregnant. You’re carrying our children, there’s nothing hotter than that,” Dane says, staring at me gobsmacked.
Teddy pauses on his way to putting dishes in the sink, “Damn! You mean this whole time you’ve been, how do I say this delicately, sexually charged?”
“Um, if I say yes, will you be upset?”
Judging by the pained look on his face it probably wouldn’t help at all knowing what we have missed out on. Oh, well.
“So, speaking of the children, I told Ky last night that one of the babies is his,” I say and hear a glass smash.
Teddy had continued on and was washing his dishes in the sink, and I must have shocked him. He whirls on me staring at me. “What did you say?”
Each of them are staring at me, while Ky smiles widely at the room, clearly impressed with himself. Christian, Zeke, and Zach are watching our exchange with humour clear on their faces.
I didn’t think they’d react this shocked, I mean they knew I was having trouble keeping it secret.
“What’s the big deal? I know I was going to keep it until they were born, but in spite of everything that’s happened I wanted you to know. It’s too hard to keep a secret this big and I would hate to slip up and tell someone else before the father knew. So, I told Ky about one of the babies being his and I want to tell you who the other’s father is. I also thought we should know the babies’ genders. It will help designing the nursery.”
It takes a moment before anyone speaks, but finally Dane breaks the silence, “Sorry, of course we want to know we’re just shocked that’s all.”
“Come on the suspense is killing me. Who’s the other father?” Zach asks from the table.
I laugh at his interruption, glad that someone is lightening the mood.
“Dane is the other father,” I say, looking straight at him watching his reaction.
First his face registers nothing but shock, then he gets up and walks to me with a smile.
“Are you serious? This is amazing!” he picks me up with a quick hug before setting me down again. All the guys start clapping each other on the back and hugging while I watch. It is amazing watching them all celebrate, knowing they are all going to help raise these babies. The comradery between them is what I expected for my bonds when they told me I could have more than one bond.
Christian sidles up next to me and looks between me and the guys.
‘You know this is only the start of the celebrations right? Wait and see what happens when you tell them you’ll be giving them each a son.’
I gasp, shocked by his words. I’m having boys. I thought they were, but hearing it verified is another thing entirely. This moment is one of the happiest of my life.
Teddy and Dane seem to realize something’s changed and rush to me when they see my tears on my face.
“Evie, what’s wrong?!” Teddy asks, causing the others to stop and gather around Christian and me.
“Nothing’s wrong. I’m happy. I just found out I’m having two boys,” I tell them, glancing back at Christian with a watery smile.
Mike lets out a whoop and slaps Dane’s hand with a high five. They both seem stoked by the news.
Ky looks at Christian, figuring out who told me about the babies, “Are you sure they’re boys?”
“I’m about 90% sure. There’s always the slight possibility I read the scan wrong but I doubt it.”
Christian’s confidence seems to assure the guys and they all start off congratulating each other again. Even Zach and Zeke have joined in on the celebrations, hugging each other and shaking hands.
At that moment, Raphael and Spencer walk in to the room watching our exchange with amused expressions.
“What’s going on?” my grandfather asks me.
“I just told them who the fathers of the babies are, and they found out they’re having sons,” I say watching my grandfather’s jaw drop.
“Boys? I get great grandsons? Yes!” he fists pumps the air causing me to laugh at his childlike behaviour.
Spencer watches me, and I realize he hasn’t figured it out quite yet.
“Dane is one of the fathers,” I tell him watching a smile appear on his face.
He grabs me from my chair, pulling me in a bone crushing hug.
“Thank you. You have no idea how hard it has been, being away from him and now you have given me not only my son but a grandson as well. Thank you,” he whispers in my ear before letting me go.
I slide back into my chair awed by their reactions. I thought there would be some jealousy or anger between them but it’s all happiness.
“Ok let’s leave the celebrations until later or we’re going to be late.
Come on, Evie, let’s go get your bag,” Mike says smiling at me.
“Shit, your right! We’re going to be late. Chop, chop, everyone,” Ky says glancing down at his watch.
We rush upstairs and grab my bag with my notes. Thank god, I don’t have to take a ton of stuff otherwise it would kill my back.
Dane
This is amazing news! I knew I would be a father one day but knowing it would be so soon and to have a son? It’s the best news I have heard in a long time.
Everyone else is just as excited as I am, and I watch the exchange between Evie and Spencer, happy that he gets to be here for this. We will have to tell our parents when we get back, but, at least for now, we can tell them who will be grandparents.
We arrive at school and my need to protect Evie is crushing. Evie said we had to speak to the principal first, so here we are.
Principal Higgins is an older man who we had seen wondering around the school but had never personally interacted with before. He was roughly the same height as myself
When the office door closes behind us, Evie stalks to him and slams her hands into his chest letting light seep out of her pores.
“Evie, what the hell?” I am shocked by her behaviour.
Principal Higgins drops to the floor in a heap of tangled limbs before Evie takes a deep breath.
“A demon was possessing him,” she explains, looking down at him dragging in more deep breaths.
Ky steps forward and tows her back to us while we watch, confused.
“What do you mean he was possessed? None of us felt it,” Mike says a note of confusion in his voice.
“Yeah, there’s a demon nearby. I can still feel it.”
“That’s it, we’re out of here,” I say, grabbing her and trying to haul her out of the room.
“No, I need this. I handled Principal Higgins just fine, and if the demon felt me, then he knows just how powerful I am,” Evie says defiantly.
“Fine but, Zach, I want you attached to Evie. She goes nowhere without you, ok?” I say watching Evie for any sign of arguing.
“Ok, I won’t leave her alone, but what do we do about the principal?”
“I’ll call Raphael and get him to come work some of his magic. Hopefully, he’ll know what to do. The rest of you go to class. I’ll project to you once I know what’s going on,” I inform them, giving Evie a quick kiss.
“Please be safe,” she calls, with Teddy, Ky, and Zach following behind her. Mike and I stay behind to try to clean up and wait for Raphael.
It shouldn’t take long for him to get here, especially since he told us he can feel when she uses her power. It’s something to do with her angelic powers being tied into the Creator, so every time she uses them, he feels the pulse.
“Do you think there are more here?” Mike asks adjusting Principal Higgins into a more comfortable position.
“Yeah, I’ve been thinking along the same lines. If one is here, then more than likely another has to be. What are the odds that a demon has been hiding here in the school Evie is attending? How long do you think he’s been possessed?”
“I don’t know. He didn’t seem off when we started here, but, then again, we can’t really tell if they’re demons unless their eyes have turned.”
Mike’s right. His eyes haven’t changed yet, so either the demon wasn’t too powerful, or he hadn’t been possessed for too long. Either way it’s a little worrying. It means either the demons have been watching Evie longer than we thought, or someone knew we were coming back.
Teddy
Watching Evie go into the office, destroy a demon, and walk back out as if nothing happened, has me hotter than the sun.
She’s been so meek the last few days that it’s nice to see her get her backbone back. Besides, watching her walk around pregnant with our child, acting all powerful is a big turn on.
It doesn’t matter that biologically the children aren’t mine, all that matters is that I will raise them as if they were my own.
Family isn’t about who births the child, but about who raises them and teaches them the things they need to prepare them for the future. That’s the role of a true parent. I intend to be there for Evie’s children for everyday of their lives. And who knows, maybe we’ll have our own biological child someday in the future, but, for now, I’m happy raising any children she has as my own.
‘Raphael is here and the principal is fine. We healed him and woke him up, he’s been possessed for at least a year. We all know what that means.’
Shit! If he’s been possessed a year, it means when Evie called he could have put the demons on alert. This is not going to be good.
“Evie, Dane said your principal was possessed for the last year. Have you felt anything when we were around him before?” Zach asks before we walk into class.
We get a few side-glances from other students that are still walking to class, but they don’t seem to pay too much attention to what we’re talking about.
“No, I never really noticed anything strange. I did get the heebie-jeebies a few times, but I thought it was just being around other adults. I’ve never felt comfortable around other men, since what happened with Ted.”
“Maybe it was more than heebie-jeebies, maybe it was the angel part of you that was registering a demon’s presence. Either way we need to be careful now. If you feel a demon, tell us straight away, don’t go all badass and getting rid of it in front of the entire school,” I tell her with a smirk.
She blushes and shakes her head at us before walking into the class. We go to our usual seats with Zach pulling a spare chair up to the side of Evie’s desk.
Ky and I sit down while the teacher walks straight up to us and hands us our tests.
“These are your end of year exams. You have until the end of class to finish them, and I’ll mark them after. Principal Higgins informed us of your situation, so just let me know if you need a break. Today and tomorrow will be filled with your tests, and then the following day will be used to hand back your results and give you a chance to redo any tests you may have failed.”
He goes to leave before turning back, “Congratulations, Evelyn,” he whispers before walking back to the head of the class.
Kylan
Jeez, the whole school will know about Evie being pregnant if this keeps up. Her emotions have been all over the place since we got out of the car, but she’s handled herself remarkably well considering she’s already dealt with a demon.
We’re going to have to keep our eyes out for any more students or staff that may be possessed, but, for now, we need to complete these final exams so we can focus on our babies.
I sit back, sighing when I finally finish the exam. That was the longest thirty minutes ever. There were a few questions I may have gotten wrong but nothing I can do now.
“Come on Evie,” I grab her hand, pulling her up, walking her up to the desk, and dropping our exams.
“We’ll walk you halfway then Zach can take you,” I tell her pulling her out of the room.
“You know there’s no rush right? They give us 5 minutes between classes to actually get to the other class,” she says grinning.
“Yes, I know, but I want to spend as much time as I can with you. Is that so bad?”
Teddy and Zach both smirk at her as she blushes. The images in her mind, make me laugh.
“No, I’m not going to sneak you into a closet, but I can if you want to?” I ask, trying to keep a straight face.
She’s so adorable when she’s all hot and flustered. I don’t even think she realized she was projecting her thoughts to us, but man, I’m glad that she isn’t regretting last night.
“I wasn’t thinking anything like that,” she says indignantly.
“Sure, sweetie. So, should we just pretend that you didn’t send us those images?” Teddy asks her.
“No! Oh, please tell me I didn’t!”
“Sorry, princess, but you did,” I say, laughing at the horror on her face. It’s not that bad, but I can i
magine why she would think it’s bad.
Zach
God, Evie is so sweet and innocent. She just projected an image of her and Ky sneaking away into the janitor’s closet for a quickie, and she’s horrified that we all saw it.
“You know there’s nothing to worry about, Evie. It’s nice to know you think of us like that, and I’m sure the only thing you have to worry about is us walking around trying not to recall the image,” I tell her while Teddy and Ky smirk at her uncomfortable expression.
“Jeez, so I have to worry about you guys walking around with raging erections all day? Great,” she says playing along. “Come on, let’s go or we’ll be late. Bye guys,” she leads me away.
“You know we were just messing with you, right? We didn’t mean anything by it.”
“I know. It was just embarrassing realizing that got projected to all of you. Sometimes it’s hard to control what’s sent out, especially when I’m all emotional.”
“Yeah, I know that. The number of images mom got when I was younger, she told me she would need to bleach her brain if I didn’t get some control. Don’t worry though, part of being with a bonded is that we don’t mind what you project to us. Especially when it’s something like that,” I tell her with a chuckle.
“Ha ha. It’s not funny, it’s embarrassing. We haven’t even kissed yet, and I sent that image to you. What kind of bonded does that make me?”
“Oh, honey, we can easily remedy that,” I say backing her into the lockers.
Evie
That’s not what I meant, but looking into Zach’s eyes, the only thing I want is for him to kiss me.
We stare at each other for one of the longest moments of my life before I decide screw it, why does he have to make the first move?
I lean up and press my lips to his softly, sighing at the feeling of his lips and the taste of vanilla chap stick. He doesn’t respond straight away, but the moment I flick my tongue over his bottom lip enjoying the taste that’s purely him, he sighs giving in.
Moaning softly, he clutches me to his chest and the whole world around me disappears. The bond between us snaps into place, and I gasp and pull back, the wonder in my heart overwhelming me. I didn’t think I’d form another bond anytime soon especially not in the middle of school.
