Liam dipped his head lower until his tongue pushed through her lower lips and caressed the nub nestled between them. Skylar moaned at the touch. Being with Liam at this moment was suddenly the most important thing to her. “I need you inside me, Liam.”

After his tongue circled her clit once more, he pulled back. “You taste so good,” he said as he stood and claimed her lips. Their tongues greeted each other and danced together. The taste of her nectar on his mouth caused her juices to pool between her legs.

  “Fuck me.”

Liam pushed her onto the bed. She watched as he lifted his shirt over his head and unfastened his pants, pushing them from his narrow hips. The sight of the majestic man in front of her made her realize he was hers. When he crawled onto the bed, he kneed her thighs apart and positioned his cock at her core before he thrust into her in one swift movement, proving she was him.

Her body stretched to accommodate his girth, and she wrapped her legs around his waist as his thrusts quickened. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes as his tongue trailed along her neck. Her slender fingers dug into his back and scratched down the muscles. The tingling in her core increased and her breathing became shallow.

“I’m close,” she moaned. The feel of his warm, sweaty skin gliding against her added to the lustful sensation. “Liam, I’m going to—“ She didn’t finish as her orgasm shot throughout her core and through her body. Her legs shook and she arched against him as his teeth pierced her skin.

As her fingers dug deeper into his back, his thrusts quickened until his body stiffened and jerked as he came inside her. Her cored squeezing and massaging his shaft.

Liam collapsed on top of her, and she stroked his back as their breathing evened and returned to normal. She loved this man and couldn’t wait until she was his in every way.

After a few moments, he lifted his body partially from hers and propped himself up on his elbow as he stared into her eyes. “I love you, Skylar Moore. And to reaffirm my answer from earlier. I’m not a chicken. I would love nothing more than to make you Mrs. Conway. Will you marry me?”

She loved him calling her Mrs. Conway, and there was nothing more she wanted than to marry this caring, loving, sexy man. “Yes, I’ll marry you, Mr. Conway.”

  Chapter 7

When Liam woke the next morning, he smiled before he opened his eyes. Skylar’s body pressed against his, and her arm stretched across his flat stomach. He couldn’t believe he’d almost sent her away when she’d shown up for the personal assistant job. Despite having wanted a male assistant, he was happy Farah used her magic to summon Sky. If she hadn’t, he wouldn’t be engaged to the most wonderful, gorgeous woman he’d ever met.

Although he was sure Farah didn’t do anything she didn’t want, he began to doubt she had anything to do with the house fire. He was even beginning to believe someone took her against her will. If Skylar’s dream from yesterday was an indication, the witch needed their help, but he had no clue how he’d convince the pack to work with witches and hunters. Better yet, he didn’t know how to convince the hunters to work with any of them.

He rolled onto his side and faced his mate. Her arm dropped between them, and he wrapped her tighter against him, stroking her blonde tresses beneath his fingers. He’d talk to her and Michael later this morning, and they could decide then what their next course of action would be. He didn’t like the idea of leading Skylar into danger. However, she made a point yesterday. If they wanted the pack to accept her fully, she needed to be able to protect the pack. It was an expectation of the Lady of the Pack, and he couldn’t cast that duty aside because she was his mate. In fact, it was because she was his mate that he needed to teach and train her.

Skylar curled closer to him and mumbled, “Good morning.”

“Morning, baby. Did you sleep well?” he asked. He was thankful she hadn’t cried out in her sleep from the nightmares she’d been having and even more thankful she wasn’t trapped in one by magic.

“I did.” She raised her head and pressed her lips to his chin before she fell back onto the pillow.

“Good.” He kissed the top of her head. “Since I ruined your clothes last night, I thought we could drive into the city today and do some shopping. Afterward, I’d like us to meet with Michael and discuss your dream from Farah.”

She raised up, her eyes wide. “Really? You believe me?”

“I think it’s worth considering it. Farah brought you to me. She saved you. If she’s in trouble, we need to help her.” Liam sat up and tossed the blanket aside, throwing his legs over the edge of the mattress. “Get up. We have a busy day ahead of us.”

Before he could stand, Skylar threw her arms around his waist and pressed herself against his back. “Thank you, Liam.”

“If Farah is in trouble, we will have our work cut out for us. We must find the good witch coven and the hunters and convince them to call a truce long enough to find the evil coven. That in and of itself will take some smooth talking.”

“Well, if anyone can do it, it’s you, Liam.” She laughed and unwound herself from him.

Liam stood and turned to face the bed, stretching out his hands to her. When she placed her tiny fingers in his, he pulled her naked body off the mattress. “Before we do anything, I think we could use a shower.” His cock jerked at the thought of being inside her.

“What do you have in mind?” she asked, looking from his face to his erection and back.

He lifted her, and she wrapped her legs around him. With his cock pressed against her entrance, he said, “I need to feel you wrapped around my cock. I want your sweet juices covering me.” He thrust forward, allowing the head to slide inside her.

She leaned into him and whispered into his ear, “I want my mouth around you after you’ve fucked me. I want to taste us.”

Liam wasted no time taking her to the bathroom and turning on the shower. Once they were beneath the warm flow of water, he was close exploding. They stayed inside well after the water turned cold, but it was one of the hottest showers he’d ever taken.

When Liam and Skylar stepped outside to make their trip into the city, he stopped before he passed through the open door. There in the middle of the clearing between the cabins stood a woman with black hair and a leather jacket. Hayley. As he scanned the area, he noticed all the wolves surrounded the young witch, their teeth bared. They appeared ready to pounce, but something was off. Something held them back. Magic.

“It’s about time you show, Alpha,” Hayley said and placed her hand on her hip. “Do you know how difficult it is to track you down?”

“Who is that?” Skylar asked from behind him.

He turned his head and looked over his shoulder. “She’s a witch Michael and I met the other night. Stay behind me. If anything happens, go into mom’s room and stay there.” He returned his attention to Hayley. “What do you want?”

“Oh, you know what I want. I’m surprised you haven’t called me yet. However, after recent events, I had to take that choice away from you. That’s why I’m here.”

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Michael come around the edge of the cabin and stop abruptly as if he’d hit a concrete wall. When he looked forward and saw Hayley, he said, “Well, if it isn’t the witch bitch.” His voice tinged with amusement and animosity.

“What did I tell you about calling me that, smelly dog?” She focused on Liam’s brother.

Liam knew he had to do something, but he wasn’t sure what. He’d planned on him, Skylar and Michael discussing this later this afternoon. Instead, he was forced to do something now.

“What recent events, Haley?” Liam asked and stepped outside onto the porch.

Hayley met Liam’s eyes for a second before she looked past him and focused on something behind him. “As your mate is aware, the evil witches are capable of reaching anyone through their dreams. Last night, our entire coven encountered them in our dreams despite the spell we cast to protect our thoughts and dream
s. We lost one of our young witches. We need your help, and you need ours.”

“You shouldn’t have come here. You need to leave. Today isn’t the day to discuss this. If you want our help, come back tomorrow, and I’ll be ready to discuss this further,” Liam said, keeping his eyes on the witch. His wolf growled.

“If you want your brother and housekeeper back, we’ll talk today. We’re all out of time, Alpha. If you want your entire herd to die, then turn your back on my offer. However, I suggest you work with us.”

“What’s one more day in the grand scheme of things? I don’t think my pack will die overnight.” He corrected her. He needed time to talk this over with Michael and Skylar. He couldn’t give in to the witch just because she thinks they’ll all die.

“What I didn’t tell you is your housekeeper spoke with me in my dream last night. She told me she showed your mate where the evil pack is hiding. My coven and I are going, with or without your aid, and once we’re there, our plan is to kill every witch we find. You can help us to ensure we don’t kill your witch.”

How did Hayley know what Farah had told Skylar? Were the dreams true? “How do you plan on finding the evil witches?”

Skylar stepped onto the porch and wrapped her arm around Liam’s waist.

“We can find the coven through magic, but it’ll go much faster if your mate will lead us. Also, if she helps, we won’t give ourselves away by using our magic. We’ll have the element of surprise.” Hayley directed her attention to Skylar.

Liam threw his arm over Sky’s shoulder and pulled her closer. When he looked down at her, her blue eyes pleaded with him. Fuck!

“What are your terms?” Liam asked, focusing on Hayley once more.

“Your entire pack must assist us.”

Skylar squeezed his side and whispered, “We need to help Farah.”

When he faced her, he knew his answer. “We’ll help you. However, there’s something else you should know, but before I reveal that, can you release the magic holding my pack?”

“Tell them to back off and not harm me, and you have yourself a deal.” She smiled at him.

“Until further notice, this witch is under my protection. An act against her is an act against me, your alpha. Do I make myself clear?” Liam’s voice boomed as he watched the members of his pack nod their understanding. “You have my word no harm will come to you at the hands of my pack.” Liam nodded.

“Libero,” Hayley chanted and the wolves who pushed against the shield fell forward. “Let’s talk, Alpha.”

Liam nodded and motioned her forward before he turned to Michael. “Skylar and I will take Hayley elsewhere to discuss Farah’s rescue. While I’m gone, begin preparations to start training tomorrow. Add Skylar to some of the line-ups, but I’ll focus on the majority of her training needs.”

When Hayley stepped onto the porch, Skylar extended her hand and stepped forward. Liam’s arm fell to his side. “I’m Skylar Moore, Liam’s mate.”

Instead of shaking Sky’s offered hand, Hayley focused on the necklace around Sky’s neck. Her eyes widened and she halted. Liam moved forward, not liking the woman’s narrowed eyes.

  “Where’d you get that necklace?”

Sky fingered the chain. “Farah gave it to me.”

“It’s enchanted with a protection spell.”

  “I’m aware.”

“I’ve seen this type of spell only a few times in my life. It can only be performed by the strongest of witches.” Hayley focused on Skylar’s hand and finally extended her own to shake it. “You must be special if she cast this spell for you. It takes a lot of energy.”

“She is special,” Liam interrupted. “I’d like to have somewhere private to talk. Do you mind taking a ride with us?”

  “Sure.” Hayley shrugged.

“Michael, we’ll return in a few hours. Check in on Mom, and after that, start the preparations.”

Michael nodded and disappeared through the door.

“If you’ll follow us, we have somewhere to be.” Liam wrapped his thick fingers around Skylar’s small hand and led her and the witch from the porch to his car. Once they were inside and buckled, he placed the car in drive and started toward the city.

  * * *

The first thirty minutes of the ride into the city were silent. When Skylar couldn’t take it any longer, she asked, “Are we going to discuss this or remain quiet?”

“I wanted to make sure we were well away before I said anything.” Liam patted her leg and glanced in the rearview.

Skylar half-turned in the passenger seat so she could see Liam and Hayley. She didn’t anticipate anything going wrong, but it would be better to watch for visuals than being caught off-guard.

“What was the other thing you needed to tell me?” Hayley asked.

Skylar remained quiet and allowed Liam to answer.

“According to Sky’s dream, we’ll need the help of the hunters. Unless we have their help, there’s no chance of defeating the evil witches.”

Hayley’s eyes widened. “Are you fucking kidding me? Work with the hunters? Are you sure?”

Skylar nodded. “Yes, we’re sure. Farah specifically said the witches, wolves, and hunters were needed.”

“Things just got interesting. How do you suggest we go about this impossible feat?” Hayley unbuckled her seatbelt and scooted forward so she was between the front seats.

“I have no clue,” Skylar said. This entire world was new to her.

“I’m not sure. Why don’t you go back to your coven and see if they have suggestions? When everyone comes for training tomorrow, we can meet and discuss. Hopefully, between all of us, we can figure something out.” Liam glanced over at Sky and back at Hayley before he returned his eyes to the road.

“That sounds good. If you don’t mind, can you pull over here? The sooner I return, the sooner we can brainstorm.”

“Here? In the middle of nowhere?” Sky asked and looked at the forest surrounding them.

Hayley laughed. “Believe it or not, it’s closer and safer for me here.”

Liam pulled the car onto the side of the road. When Hayley opened her door, she said, “We’ll see you bright and early in the morning.”

“Bye, Hayley. Be safe,” Skylar said and nodded to the young witch. She watched the raven hair beauty cross the road and disappear into the bare forest. “I hope she’ll be okay.” She turned to Liam.

“Sky, she’ll be fine. In fact, she’s probably at her coven already. Witches can appear and disappear on command.”

  “Oh.”

  “Are you ready to shop?”

“Yes. It’ll be nice to have some new clothes and a distraction from everything…even if it’s only for a few hours.”

Liam pulled the car onto the desolate road, but Sky couldn’t help but focus on the area where Hayley disappeared. With hunters and evil witches active, she hoped nothing happened to the young woman.

  * * *

Two nights without nightmares. Skylar couldn’t believe they’d stopped. As much as she wanted to see Farah again, she needed the rest. She and Liam spent two hours shopping yesterday, and by the time they left the last store, there’s no way she could do anything else. When he suggested they visit another store, she insisted she wanted to go home. Before they’d even left the city limits, she’d fallen asleep, and Liam carried her inside without waking her once they were home.

When she woke this morning, she was still tired, but the extra sleep had done her good. The dark circles under her eyes vanished. After her trip to the restroom, she crawled back into bed, curled up to Liam, and fell asleep. She didn’t wake until he shook her shoulders and told her breakfast was ready.

After she climbed from bed, she dressed in warm workout clothes and went in search of food. When she found Liam at the table, he’d already filled a plate for her. She took her seat and dove into the food like a starved person. It wasn’t until she heard Michael laugh from the doorway that she placed her fork on her plate and lo
oked up.

“Do you always eat like an animal? Man, you shoveled that food into that mouth.”

She moved her eyes from Michael to her plate and realized she’d devoured most of it. However, she still felt hungry. “No, I don’t always eat like an animal. I guess I’m just extra hungry this morning,” she said and turned her focus to Liam. “Is there more bacon? And eggs?” She smiled at him as her stomach growled.

“Coming right up.” Liam’s lips twitched, but he turned around before a full smile spread across his face.

  “It’s okay to laugh, Liam.”

With her words, his booming laughter filled the room. After he filled her plate and set it in front of her, he said, “I’m happy to see you eat…even if it’s like an animal.”

She protruded her bottom lip and crossed her arms over her chest, pretending to pout, but it didn’t last long. Her hunger won. After she finished her second serving of food, she dropped her fork onto the empty plate and pushed her chair back, patting her flat stomach. “I don’t think I could eat another bite. I’m stuffed.”

“Well, it’s a good thing we’re training today. You can work those calories off,” Michael said and winked at her before he slid his chair back and stood. “I’ll meet you outside in thirty minutes. Be prepared to get sweaty.” He turned and left Skylar and Liam at the table.

  “How’s your mom this morning?”

“She’s sleeping. This cancer is taking its toll on her. She managed to eat an egg and a cup of applesauce, but that was it.”

Skylar reached across the table and rested her hand atop his, giving it an assuring squeeze. “We’ll get through this, Liam. Once we find Farah, we’ll spend all our time with Leah.”

He nodded. “Let’s get outside and start training. You need to know as much as you can before we leave to find these witches. I’m estimating we’ll have a week, but I won’t know for sure until Hayley and her coven arrive.” He stood, and Skylar followed him outside.
