“Yeah, me and Jacob are going to run this place. We are going to train fighters who want to fight professionally. No underground fighting anymore. This is all above board. Matt is gonna help us, too.”

“This is great. I love it. When do you open?” I loved how Bonnie was excited about this. I knew she would support me in whatever I decided to do.

“Next week. Ethan has some newbie fighters and he wants them trained. They have potential to go pro.”

“That’s great. Does Rose know?” I nodded my head. “She must be relieved that Jacob won’t be fighting anymore.”

“Yeah, she is. I brought her here when she was freaking out about Jacob’s accident. She sounded like she was gonna leave him. So I had to tell her what I had planned.”

“This is great. I am so proud of you.” She wound her arms around my neck and kissed me.

  Ping.

“Oh, that’s my phone.” She pulled it out of her bag and opened up her messages.

  “Who is it?”

“Rose. I thought she lost her phone?”

  “She must have found it, what does it say?” She showed me the message;

Meet me at the park. 10 mins. Just you x

“That’s strange, do you think she’s ok?” She asked me.

“I don’t know, sweetness. I’m coming with you.” I told her. I rushed her out of the door and locked up.

“She said come alone. I’ll be fine.” She placed her hand on my chest and that familiar zing shot through my body.

“I’m at least driving you there.”

“Fine.” We both climbed back into my car and we headed for the park.

  Chapter 31

  Bonnie

“There’s her car and look, there she is, sitting on the bench. I will get her to give me a lift home. I love you.”

“Love you too, sweetness. Be careful.” I gave him a quick kiss and got out of the car and made my way towards Rose. I looked over my shoulder and saw Joseph driving away.

“Hi.” I said as I sat next to her. She didn’t speak. I looked at her and she had tears streaming down her face. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m so sorry.” She cried as she pulled me close for a hug.

“What are you sorry for?” I was confused.

“Hello, baby cakes.” I heard Damien say as he sat beside me on the other side. “We are going for a little ride.” Rose sobbed next to me. “You too, flower.”

“No, you leave her out of this.” I demanded.

“I don’t think you are in any position to be making demands.” He pulled out a knife and held it against my tummy.

“I’ll go with you, I’ll go with you.” Rose screamed. “Please, don’t hurt them.” He made us walk to Rose’s car and climb in the back seat.

“Give me your phone.” He demanded. I passed him my bag and Rose and I held hands, if we stuck together, we would find a way out of this. I saw him take my phone and put it in his pocket. He started the car and drove off.

“Where are you taking us?” I asked.

“You’ll soon see. Now sit back and shut up.”

  ***

As soon as he turned off the main road, I knew where we were headed. Rose and I had only been down this road once before but I wouldn’t have forgotten it.

“You know where you are?” He asked.

  “Yes. Why are we here?”

“I need a little re-match fight.” So, he wanted to fight? Why bring us with him? Why threaten my baby with a knife? I watched him pull my phone out of his pocket and he dialled a number.

“Who are you calling?” I asked. He didn’t answer. “What do you want Damien?”

  “It’s not your sweetness…”

“Damien? Why do you have Bonnie’s phone?”

“Because, I have Bonnie with me. If you want to see her, her friend and that baby again, I guess you had better meet me at the warehouse.”

  “What are you talking about?”

“I have them with me at the warehouse, come prepared to fight. We are having a re-match.” He hung up the phone and I sobbed. Was Joseph walking into a trap? Damien got out of the car, opened the back door and grabbed my upper arm and pulled me out of the car. I yelped as he was rough. “Get out of the car, flower.” Rose climbed out and stood beside me. “This way.”

  Joseph

“Fuck!” I roared, throwing a dining chair across the room.

  “What is it?” Jacob asked.

“Damien. He says he has Bonnie and Rose at the warehouse and he is keeping them until I turn up there for a fight.” I grabbed my car keys and ran out of the door. Jacob hot on my heels.

“Did you speak to one of them?” He asked.

“No, he said he wanted a re-match and then hung up the phone.”

“Call him back. You need proof that they are there. I’ll drive.” We jumped in the car and I dialled Bonnie’s phone.

“Shit, no answer.” I slammed my hand down on the dashboard.

“Try again.” He shouted. “He has my woman, too.” I dialled and this time it connected.

  “Yeah.” He answered.

“Let me talk to Bonnie and Rose. I want proof you have them.”

  “Joseph?” Bonnie sobbed.

“Sweetness, are you ok? Has he hurt you? Is Rose with you? Is she ok?”

“I’m ok, he hasn’t hurt us.”

“Try and stay as calm as possible, think of our little princess. I’m on the way. Love you.”

“Ok, love you too.” The phone went dead.

“They are both there and they’re both ok. He hasn’t hurt them. Put your foot down.”

“Are you going to fight him?” Jacob asked.

“I will do whatever it takes to get our women home safely.” Jacob nodded in agreement. He would do the same.

A few minutes later, we were pulling up outside of the warehouse. We both jumped out and ran inside. My heart almost stopped when I saw that he had Rose and Bonnie tied to a chair each and he stood with a knife over Bonnie’s tummy.

“Get away from them.” I shouted.

“You don’t get to call the shots. This is what’s going to happen. You are going to fight me in that ring and whoever wins keeps Bonnie forever.” Bonnie gasped and she shook her head, pleading with me not to do it.

“If I win, you will leave and never come back?”

  “I’ll be gone.”

“Let’s do this then.” I pulled off my hoody and t-shirt, Jacob handed me my shorts and trainers that were kept here for fights.

“Joseph, please don’t do this.” Bonnie sobbed.

“It’ll be ok, sweetness. Please, breathe and calm yourself down. Please.” She nodded and took a couple of deep breaths.

“Tommy!” Damien called out. He nodded his head and a man that I hadn’t noticed was here walked towards him. “Keep an eye on them.” He pointed to Bonnie and Rose. “You.” He looked at Jacob. “Stay by the ring. All it will take is one word from me and Tommy will end them both.” I looked at Jacob and he gave me a slap on the back that told me to end the fucker. Damien and I both entered the ring and I lunged towards him, taking the first swing.

  Bonnie

I’d always thought watching Joseph fight would be hot, watching him get hot and sweaty, muscles flexing. I was terrified, what if he got hurt? What if he lost? Would he let Damien take me away? No, I knew he wouldn’t, he was in love with me and I was carrying his baby. Joseph lunged at Damien getting in a few punches, I didn’t want to watch but at the same time I couldn’t look away either. Rose was very quiet sitting next to me, I looked over to her and her gaze was locked with Jacob’s. How was I ever going to make this up to her? Being kidnapped and tied up by my ex.

“You ok?” I whispered. She shook her head. “Talk to me.” I kept glancing back at the fight, I didn’t want to miss when Joseph ended it.

  “I’m pregnant.”

“What? How far along are you?”

She shrugged her shoulders. “I only took a test this morni
ng. I haven’t even told Jacob yet.”

  “Did he hurt you? Damien?”

“He grabbed me and shoved me into the back of my car.” She sobbed.

“Do you have any pain?” She shook her head. “When this is all over we will get you to the hospital just to make sure everything is ok.” She nodded.

  Joseph

We had been fighting for what felt like ages, my muscles were sore, my face was bloody. I wouldn’t give up. Bonnie and our little girl were my world and no-one would ever take them away from me. I kicked my foot into Damien’s stomach and as he went flying across the ring I heard an almighty scream. I spun around to look at Bonnie and she was bent over. She looked up at me, worry all over her face and that was when I noticed the puddle of water beneath her, had her waters just broke? Shit, it was too early, she was only at thirty four weeks. I turned back around and saw Damien flying towards me, I kicked my leg and caught him in the knee, he went straight down and I threw several punches to his face until his hand went out and tapped the floor of the ring. I jumped off him.

“This is where it ends, you come back or I see you again, I will kill you. Got it?” He nodded and I jumped out of the ring and ran to Bonnie. “Get the fuck away from them.” I growled at the other guy. “Sweetness, talk to me, what’s happened?” I began untying her as Jacob released Rose.

  “My waters broke.” She sobbed.

“Are you in pain?” She nodded and placed her hand on her stomach. “Fuck, let’s get you to the hospital.” I swept her up in my arms and we made it to my car quickly. I sat in the back seat with Bonnie and she cried into my chest. Jacob sped off down the road towards the hospital.

  Chapter 32

  Joseph

I ran through the doors of the hospital with Bonnie in my arms.

“Please help me, her waters broke and she’s thirty four weeks pregnant.” A nurse that was standing nearby called for us to follow her. She had me put Bonnie into a wheelchair and we went immediately up to the maternity ward. They settled Bonnie onto the bed and got her changed into a hospital gown.

“We need to do a vaginal check to see if you are dilating and we will also do an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. Lie back Bonnie.” I held onto Bonnie’s hand as the doctor checked her over.

“It will be ok. I love you.” I said as I kissed her on the top of her head.

“Bonnie, your cervix is shortening and opening ready for delivery.”

“What does that mean?” I asked.

“It means your baby will be arriving soon. We will do an ultrasound and the midwife is going to monitor the baby’s heartbeat every fifteen minutes.” Bonnie nodded her head as some gel was squirted onto her large baby bump and the doctor moved the wand across it. She turned the screen towards us. “Here she is, good strong heartbeat.”

“Oh, thank God.” Bonnie sighed with relief and then I felt her grip tighten on my hand. I looked over to her and her face was screwed up.

  “Sweetness?”

“Bonnie, are you in pain? Don’t hold your breath.” The doctor said.

“Yes, pain. Can I have something to help?” She asked breathlessly.

“You can have an epidural?” Bonnie nodded. “Ok, we’ll get that sorted for you.”

“Will the baby be ok?” I asked.

“She is a good size for thirty four weeks and has a strong heartbeat, but we won’t know until she is here. That’s why we are monitoring her closely.”

“Thanks, doc.” The doctor left the room as Jacob and Rose walked in.

“Are you ok?” Rose asked, hugging me.

“Yeah, apart from the fucking pain. Are you ok? Have you been checked over?” She shook her head.

“Babe? What is she talking about?” Jacob asked, pulling her close to him.

“You haven’t told him?” Bonnie asked.

“Tell me what?” Jacob looked concerned.

“I’m pregnant. I only took a test this morning.”

“He shoved her into the back of the car, I think you should see if everything’s ok.”

“Shit, how did this happen?” He asked.

“Remember how I forgot to pick up my pill prescription?”

“Yeah, I had to start wearing condoms again, hated it.” He complained.

“Well, I guess one must have broke.”

“Aaahhhh. Fuck!” Bonnie screamed out. We all rushed to her.

“Contraction?” I asked. She nodded. I held her hand and rubbed her back trying to help with the pain. The nurse walked back in just as the contraction ended.

“My friend fell earlier and she has just found out she is pregnant, can she be checked over?” Bonnie asked her.

“Sure, hun. Your baby’s heart rate is still good. Your epidural should be here soon.” She turned to Rose. “Come with me and we will check you over.” Rose and Jacob followed the nurse out of the room.

“Are you tired?” I asked Bonnie, pushing her hair out of her face. She nodded. “Try and get some rest, we don’t know how long this is going to take.”

“Lie with me?” She moved over slightly and I climbed onto the bed with her.

  ***

It was two hours later, Bonnie had an epidural to help with the pain but there was still no sign of our baby girl.

“Bonnie, let’s take another look.” The doctor said as she walked into the room. She put on gloves and lifted Bonnie’s gown. “You are progressing very slowly…”

“What does that mean?” I cut her off.

“We just need to keep a closer eye on you to make sure the baby isn’t getting distressed. The nurse will be in to keep a closer eye.” Bonnie nodded and looked at me.

“Hello, can we come in?” Rose asked from the doorway.

“Yeah, where have you been?” Bonnie asked.

“There was a wait to get checked out, but I’m ok. We have a healthy baby, I’m fifteen weeks.”

“Fifteen weeks? But you have no bump?”

“I know, the doctor said everyone is different. She said all of a sudden it will just be there.” She laughed.

“I’m pleased for you both. Congratulations.” I kissed Rose on the cheek and pulled my brother in for a hug.

Beep. Beep. Beep. One of the machines connected to Bonnie was going off. We all looked at the nurse.

  “What’s happening?” I asked frantically.

“I need to get the doctor.” The nurse pressed a button and within a minute the doctor was in the room, looking at the machine.

“What’s wrong? What’s happening?” Bonnie asked.

“Now, Bonnie, the baby is getting distressed. We are going to have to take you to have a caesarean. I need you to remove all jewellery, any make-up and false nails. I will need your consent to go ahead with this.”

“Yes, yes. Please, just help my baby.” She began pulling off her rings and the nurse handed her wipes to wipe her make-up off.

“Ok, let’s get you get down there and prepared. Joseph, you will need to change too.” They pulled the sides up on Bonnie’s bed and began wheeling her down the hall.

“I’ll call her parents and Matt and J-Lee.” Rose called out. I waved to say thanks. All I was concerned about was Bonnie and our little princess.

  ***

I was pacing in the room that Bonnie had been in earlier, with my baby girl cuddled up against my naked chest, with a pink blanket over her. The nurse said as she was born by caesarean she would be colder than usual, so skin on skin contact would help. Usually, it would be skin on skin with the mother but after Faye was born, Bonnie started bleeding heavily and the doctors rushed us both out so they could get to work on her. I was terrified of not seeing her again, she got a quick glimpse of Faye before she passed out.

“Any news?” Jamie-Lee asked as she rushed into the room holding Harper in her arms. I shook my head. “Let me see her.” I stopped pacing so she could see Faye.

“She’s beautiful, look at all that dark hair.” Then she started crying and so did Harper.
r />   “Sshh, sshh. It’s ok, baby girl.” She tried calming her down but it didn’t work.

“Babe, give her to me. She can tell you’re upset.” Matt said as he reached for Harper. She quietened down straight away.

“Joseph?” I heard and looked towards the door and saw Bonnie’s Mum and Dad rushing in.

“Hi, Mr and Mrs Andrews. She’s still in surgery.”

“Stop that, we have told you to call us Rita and Stan. Let’s have a look at our grandchild.” I stopped moving again.

“They said my body heat would help warm her up.” I explained.

  “Has she eaten?” Rita asked.

“Yeah, they made me bottle feed her, Bonnie wanted to breast feed.”

“She will still be able to, if…” She paused waiting for her name.

  “Faye.” I added.

“If Faye latches on.” I nodded my head. The room was now full of family. The nurse had been in to check on Faye and she was happy that she had warmed up, so I dressed her and the rest of the family were busy having cuddles with her when Bonnie got wheeled back into the room. I ran to her side and she was still sleeping.

“Is she ok?” I asked the doctor.

“I need to speak to immediate family only.” She replied.

“This is her immediate family.” I told her. She looked around and Bonnie’s Mum and Dad, walked over and stood by my side.

“There were some complications, she started bleeding heavily. We have managed to stop the bleeding…”

“Did you have to do a hysterectomy?” Rita asked. A hysterectomy? What the hell was that? I thought.

“No, we didn’t.” Rita seemed relieved.

“So, she is going to be ok?” I asked.

“Yes. We just need for her to wake up and run a couple of tests. But with rest, she should be fine.” We all sighed with relief.

  “When should she be awake?”

“Within the hour. Though I am going to have to ask no-more than three people in here at once and that’s me being generous.”
