Senior year is finally over for the crew, and they've been lounging all summer getting ready for the fall. Porsha and Kaliq have spent a month out to sea, rekindling and remembering why they are still in love. Chanel has been moping around wondering whether or not Kaliq got the love letter, Mekhi is questioning his sexuality, and Yasmine is…just Yasmine.
As if things couldn't get any crazier, although Porsha has a death wish waiting for Chanel because she is the one who found the letter, that little problem has to wait. Her family has decided to move to Los Angeles, and she can't even imagine leaving New York, or Kaliq. Being the control freak she is, everyone should know that this is supposed to be her time to shine, as she is about to go off to Yale with the love of her life. Or is she?
Kaliq has been avoiding the inevitable all summer. In fact, he hasn't told Porsha or Chanel about his little escapade that prevents him from getting his diploma. Maybe it would help a bit if he stopped getting high. To make matters worse, his father isn't giving in or trying to make things better. Kaliq's old man has decided that Kaliq should do senior year all over again, and maybe he'll appreciate it this time. Despite the embarrassment of it all, Kaliq has bigger fish to fry: he's in love with Porsha and Chanel. How can he choose? Getting older is all about maturing, and it's high time he did. What will he do to make things right?
Chanel thinks she has it all figured out, as she plans to attend Yale. But now that her face is plastered all over the city, she's in for quite a surprise as she finds out that she's the new It Girl in the industry. This means that Yale will have to wait—she needs to nurture her career and Kaliq, since he's not going to Yale either. Something has to give, and she's ready to take the plunge and confess her true feelings. The problem is, how do you effectively betray your best friend without hurting her?
Mekhi and Yasmine have gone through the entire summer with Mekhi wondering whether or not he's gay. Although he did kiss another guy, was it something he really wanted to do? Yasmine is trying to remain supportive, but Mekhi doesn't seem gay to her. She's still in love with him and needs to help him realize what he really wants. No one likes to live in confusion.
Cleverly penned, witty and a true page-turner, this last installment in Ashley Valentine's Upper East Side series doesn't fail. Truly a world of the rich and famous, one thing is for certain: We haven't seen the last of them. Honestly, it's only just begun…
