She admired him, his beautiful, strong features. As long as he was there, she’d deal with whatever she had to do to finish cleaning up the demon mess. And she was at peace with that. She wasn’t alone.
“Help me up?” He stood and steadied her as she swung her legs over and climbed out of the bed. Every joint and muscle in her body ached as she took her first few steps. A wonderful aroma registered and her eyes lit up.
“Do I smell bacon?” she asked. “Did you let me miss bacon?”
“This again?” he replied with a smirk. “It’s always about food with you.”
“Dude, come on. It’s bacon.”
As they made their way out to join their friends for breakfast, Dez knew one way or another, everything was going to be alright. As long as they have each other.
