And yet, as he watched Jaxon and Sherry standing there at the altar with the minister, exchanging rings and vows and pulling together into a deep first kiss of their marriage, with all the passion and desire of their young years, and he knew how things would be tonight when they were alone…somehow Humbert did not think it would be quite that simple. The marriage could be annulled, but the love…? No stroke of a judge’s pen on a document could undo the love that he saw at the front of the church that day. The honeymoon took place in the bridal suite of the hotel in the city adjacent to Smithintown that Humbert had reserved for Jaxon and Sherry for an entire week. The old bear knew that all the two of them would need would be a nice room and a big soft bed. That was all they would see. Or, more to the point, the most that Jaxon would see for the duration would be Sherry naked with her legs in the air under him, and the most that Sherry would see would be Jaxon’s naked body and his orgasm face over her. Sure enough, after a check-in, an undressing, and a bottle of champagne consumed while Jaxon sat wearing nothing but a thong and Sherry wore nothing but a see-through negligee, the thong and the negligee came off, and Jaxon carried his bride to bed. The first sex of their marriage—or the first several times having sex in their marriage—was spent in a joy naturally surpassing that of the wedding.
After four times, they needed a respite. A happily exhausted respite.
Sherry cuddled up beside him and rested her head on his chest. Jaxon wrapped her up in one arm and played contentedly at her nipple with his index finger and thumb. “Shit,” he sighed. “How is that even possible?”
“What?” she asked, kissing his warm, hairy pec.
“How does it keep getting better?”
“It’s you,” Sherry grinned, now rustling her fingers in his pubic hair, encouraging his member to come back for more—as it inevitably would. “You’re wonderful.”
“I’m not by myself in this bed, sweetheart,” he said. “There’s somebody else wonderful here with me.”
They were quiet for a bit, just resting. Jaxon kept playing dreamily at her nipple. Sherry kept gazing down the muscles and hair of his body to what she had no doubt she would be enjoying at least one more time tonight. It rested against the hair-dusted trunk of his thigh, exuding a drop of cream, beginning to wake up to hardness again. Why, she wondered, was his full erection not coming back? To be sure, he had no intention of going to sleep yet.
“Hey, Sherry…,” Jaxon said.
“Yes?” she said, giving his pec another kiss. “Getting ready again?”
“I will be, you know that,” he replied. “But…”
“But what?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course,” she replied. “Anything.”
After a thoughtful beat, he asked, “What if…I’m just thinking out loud…what if, this summer, there was maybe…a change of plans?”
Now this was a most unexpected question. Sherry lifted her head and rose up on one elbow to look at him. Just the sight of him lying there, his hair growing out to the length and thickness it had been when they were in school together, his face so sweetly handsome, made her want to wrestle him back on top of her on the spot. But she curbed her impulse because she really wanted to know what he was talking about.
“What change of plans?” she asked.
“Well, you know, we had this summer all planned out. I’d keep working for my Dad, you’d get a summer job with your Dad…”
“Right, and we’d stay in the room over my folks’ garage…”
“…where, in between working, I’d spend the summer screwing you like a madman.”
She smiled, the smile that his relentlessly sexy mind always gave her. “That’s what we decided, right.”
“And then, when the fall rolled around…,” he began.
“In the fall, we knew what we had in mind to do next. And we settled on that too.”
“Right,” said Jaxon, more thoughtful now. “But what if… I mean, what if…?”
“What if what?”
“Sherry,” he said, “we made up our minds about why we were doing this. We talked through this, and we knew it wasn’t about satisfying some old custom that people aren’t doing anymore because the reason it got started doesn’t happen anymore. And we knew we were in it for what happens when we get in bed—which, I’m telling you, if it gets any better, they’re just gonna have to lock us up together somewhere…”
In spite of the curiosity and not quite knowing where he was going with this, Sherry had to laugh a bit at that.
He continued, “What if the plan for the end of the summer turned into something else?”
“What else would it turn into?” she asked, already suspecting the answer.
“Well,” said Jaxon, “the first argument we had was about not going through with the marriage. What if the next question was about…not going through with the annulment?”
He let the question hang there in the air over them. Sherry suddenly had an unreadable look on her face, as if she were not completely in the room and completely in the bed any more.
“What do you think?” asked Jaxon. “Is that crazy?”
Now she focused on him again, after going who-knows-where. “Jaxon,” she began, “there’s something I didn’t tell you before.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s about the night the Joneses took us, what happened that night…”
He cut her off, rising up on his elbow next to her now, touching her face, stroking her hair with tender concern. “Oh, babe, don’t go there. There’s no need to go back there any more…”
“No, it’s not about what they did. That was the most horrible thing I’ve ever been through, and I don’t want to go on reliving that. I’m talking about something that happened before all that.”
“If I remember right,” he said, “there was something that happened twice, that I wanted to go for a third round, and you shooed my ass out of there.”
“I know,” she said. “And between the time you left and the time that…all that…happened, there was something else.”
“What is it? Tell me.”
“I started thinking, Jaxon. Thinking about the way it was for us when we were in school, and the way it is now. And…I need to ask you something, seriously.”
“Okay. What?”
“Do you think it’s possible…to fall in love with the same person twice?”
Now it was Jaxon’s turn to look as if he had left room and bed. “Oh, shit,” he murmured.
He looked back at her. “You remember what I said in the auditorium? Remember when I told you I’d never, ever get over it if anything ever happened to you? Plain truth, Sherry, if anything ever happened to you, I’d spend the rest of my life doubled over in pain. I don’t know how I’d live. I’d just hurt from one minute to the next, every day, as long as I lived. Plain truth.” He caressed her face again. “And now you’re asking me if it’s possible to fall in love twice with the same person?”
“Or maybe,” she said, “just say goodbye the way we did six years ago and never really fall out of love at all.” Sherry gazed deep into his eyes. “What do you think, Jaxon?”
He did not answer in words at first. Suddenly, spontaneously, almost explosively, Jaxon lunged over at her and captured her mouth in a kiss that sent them both sinking back down onto the bed. And he pulled Sherry into his arms and crushed her to him in a way that told her that it made no difference whether it was six years or six minutes.
That kiss went on for many minutes. And when they emerged from it, still lying close, Jaxon repeated the original question. “So…do you think we might be looking at a cha
nge of plans here?”
“I think,” said Sherry, “this whole summer has been one big change of plans. And sometimes when some things change, everything else changes too.”
“Everything,” said Jaxon, “but one thing.”
“What?”
“You know what.” And he took her hand and moved it down below to the thing that changed only from long, thick, and soft to even longer, thick, and very hard—which was now longer, thick, and very hard again. “You know where this always wants to be.”
“I do,” said Sherry. “And I love you.”
“And I love you,” he said back. “And I love this…”
Jaxon moved Sherry onto her back again, and moved himself back on top of her, and slid his cock home into her wetness for round five of what he had every intention of making an endless number. And Sherry wrapped her arms and legs around him and joyously took his pumping, thrusting shaft deep into her, and saw an unending summer before them.
