It sounded easier said then done. Especially when I was already slightly tipsy. "Can I watch you do it first?" I blushed at my awkward phrasing.

Nick smiled, "Sure. You can watch, but it's more fun doing it than watching."

My mind raced as I tried to analyze what he meant. Was that a sexual innuendo he was throwing at me?

Nick licked the back of his hand between his thumb and finger and then poured salt on it. "Put the salt here and hold the lime all in your left hand. Okay watch carefully. Remember salt, shot, lime. Really quick."

He managed to do the shot in one fluid motion and still look so cool in the process. Even with a green lime wedged between his lips, he looked sexy.

He put down his empty glass. "Okay. Your turn."

I held my breath, hoping I didn't make a big fool of myself. I placed the salt on the back of my hand, grabbed the lime and took a deep breath. Salt, shot, lime.

I licked the salt off my hand, threw back the tequila and swallowed in one gulp. I sputtered as I tried to get the lime wedge to my mouth. It burned. My stomach rebelled. I don't think I bit into the lime wedge, rather I mashed it up against my teeth. I coughed, desperately praying I wouldn't hurl the contents of my stomach onto Nick's lap.

  Nick laughed. "Are you okay?"

My stomach finally settled as I glared at him through my tearing eyes. "That was awful. It tasted nasty."

"You did a great job. The next one won't taste quite so bad."

Wiping my watery eyes, I protested, "No way. I'd rather drink gasoline."

Nick waved off my protest. "You'll be throwing them down like a pro in no time."

Our eyes locked as his finger brushed away a drop of lime juice running down my chin. The air between us seemed to crackle with tension.

My head was already beginning to feel the affects of the tequila shot. There was no way I was going to do another. "No more tequila. Maybe this time you can show me how to do a body shot. I've never done one of those before either."

Oh Jeeze. Where did that come from?

Nick looked as uncomfortable as I felt. Trying to cover my embarrassment, before he could answer, I blurted out, "I'm just kidding!"

He laughed weakly, but I could see him shifting in his seat. I had to be careful, especially now that all this alcohol was loosening my inhibitions.

Nick was looking around, probably trying to escape. "Why don't you round up your friend? We're going to head out soon."

I glanced over at Claire, still having a good time by the bar. Hopefully I could drag her away. "Nick, can you ask Rosie to get me tickets and passes for your next show? It's at the Arts Center and Philly is pretty close. You don’t mind seeing me again so soon, do you?"

He didn’t seem super enthusiastic. "Sure. Just two again?"

I smiled at him. "Yeah, two is good. Thanks so much. I wonder if Rob will even want to come?"

Nick returned his focus to me. "Rob's your boyfriend?"

"Well, my sort of boyfriend." I laughed. "I think I'm going to dump him soon."

Nick looked surprised. "You're a real heartbreaker, huh?"

Strangely, the tequila was bringing me a moment of clarity. I really should ditch Rob. I knew it wasn't working between us. "Better yet, I'll dump him before the show and bring one of my girlfriends with me. Then I can really have fun."

Nick looked at me questioningly. "Why do you want to dump him?"

Because he's not you. "There's no spark between us. You know- the excitement you feel when you're near that special person. The way your stomach flutters and your heart beats crazily. The way you get so…" My voice trailed off as I stopped myself from saying anything more humiliating.

Nick was watching me intently. "What if you feel that spark with someone who is totally wrong for you?"

My stomach did a little flip flop. And it wasn't from the tequila this time.

  Chapter Two

Nick looked inside the black SUV. He glanced with envy at Tyler who was already occupying the third row seats with three giggling girls. His cock had been hard all night and he knew he was going to have to behave with his stepsister in tow. And it didn't help that he had been noticing her body all night. He had been avoiding this pull of attraction he felt toward her the last few times he had seen her, but tonight it was just overpowering.

He shook his head and quickly counted the people left. "I don't know if we're all going to fit in there."

The front seats were already overstuffed with the driver and his friends. Six people would have to fit in the second row.

Tommy, their drummer, hopped into the SUV. "We'll have to do laps. Julia, get that sweet ass of yours over here."

Alex followed Julia in and then Nick sat in the last open seat. Nick watched Allison climb up and then smile at Alex. She sat on his lap and then even wiggled her hips on his lap as she settled in. Nick felt a flash of jealousy. He tried to tell himself that it wasn't jealousy at all; that it was just protectiveness.

He turned to give Alex a warning look and almost laughed. For some reason, Alex looked nervous. Good thing too, because he would be real pissed if Alex laid a hand on her. Luckily, his friend seemed to be sober and smart enough to understand.

But it turned out that he didn't have to worry about Alex. It was Allison. She leaned back against Alex and whispered something in his ear. Something that made Alex squirm.

He couldn't help himself. Just as Claire was attempting to squeeze into the car, Nick grabbed Allison's wrist and pulled her off of Alex's lap and onto his own. Claire immediately pushed past his legs and landed on Alex's open lap. Poor Alex. Claire was pretty cute, but she was a talker. And she started chattering Alex's ear off the minute she sat down.

Allison shifted in his lap and turned to him, almost pouting. "What was that for?"

Nick put his hands on her hips, trying to still their wiggling. "Don't you have a boyfriend?"

She finally stopped moving. Unfortunately, her ass had slid up perfectly against him. He could already feel his cock tightening against it. "I'm dumping him, remember? Besides, who cares if I flirt with Alex? I think he might find me a little bit attractive too."

She was exasperating. "Of course he finds you attractive. Any man would. But that doesn't mean you have to lead him on."

Immediately, he felt her tense in his lap. She sounded defensive as she replied angrily, "I'm not leading him on."

Nick glanced around the car to see if anyone had overheard them, but they all seemed busy. What the hell was he doing with Allison? His emotions were all over the place. He was confusing himself and he was obviously confusing Allison. She was short-circuiting his brain and giving him a boner at the same time. He needed to put some space between them. For his own good.

"I'm sorry, Allie." He could only see her face briefly as car headlights flashed by, sporadically lighting it, as they sped down the road. And what he saw made his stomach clench. Tears. He had really upset her.

Nick grabbed her shoulders and pulled her back against his chest. "Hey, I didn't mean to upset you. I was just being an overprotective jerk."

He put his arms around her and her rigid body seemed to melt against him as she turned her face into his neck. Jesus. He was glad that he was wearing jeans; hopefully she couldn't feel his throbbing cock through the thick denim.

His body was humming with energy as she laid snuggly against him. And his mind was busy trying to ignore the forbidden thoughts that kept popping into his head. But he couldn't deny what he felt. Allison had called it a spark. To him it was more like a five-ton atom bomb. Why did he have to feel it with the one woman in the whole world who was off limits to him?

Allison looked up at him and smiled. "You smell like lime."

Her smile made his heart melt. "Very sexy isn't it?"

She was staring at his lips. "Very."

Oh, Fuck. He wanted her so badly that it ached.

Luckily, just then they arrived at the bar. They all spilled out of the car and Allison went off ahea
d, arms linked with her friend, Claire.

Nick caught up to Alex. "Alex, wait up."

Alex turned to him. "You look miserable man. Is your sister crimping your style tonight?"

Nick shrugged. "Something like that. Look, I think she likes you. Could you just do me a favor and keep away from her? She's been drinking a lot and- "

Alex held up his hand. "Yeah, no problem. You don't have to worry about me."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I know it's stupid. She's an adult and she manages to take care of herself every other day of the year. It's just that I can't stand to see sleazy guys all over her. Not that I think you're sleazy or anything."

Alex laughed. "Gee, thanks. I'm glad I don't have a little sister. It must be hard. Especially with one who's smoking hot like that-" Alex stopped talking abruptly, belatedly realizing what he had said.

Nick sighed. "Yeah, don't remind me."

They entered the bar and Nick immediately spotted Allison and Claire getting drinks at the bar, talking to three horny looking guys. By the time he reached them, they were all doing shots together. Nick waited until they were done and then stepped in.

He needed to get Allison away from the bar area. And away from those three guys. "Allison, let's go find Tommy and Tyler."

Allison smiled at the guys, "I'll be right back."

As they walked away Nick heard one of the guys ask, "Is that her boyfriend?"

Claire responded, "Worse. It's her brother."

When they pulled out of hearing range, Allison turned toward him. "First, it's Alex and now it's these guys. I'm beginning to suspect you don't want me to have any fun at all."

His mind searched for a good excuse that she would buy, but more importantly, that would keep her away from those predatory guys. "Well, I never get to see you. I thought we were going to hang out tonight."

Allison's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "You want to hang out together? With me, instead of with all your adoring fans?"

"Hey! I thought you were one of my adoring fans?"

She hesitated for a moment. "Well, of course. I am your biggest fan. I have been forever."

"You're right. You've probably been to the most Cold Fusion concerts of anyone - if you count the early days. You know, you're the only person in my family who's ever come to a concert of mine. Even now, when the band's huge, no one has ever come to support me." Nick felt old resentments bubbling up.

Allison almost sounded embarrassed for him as she mumbled an excuse, "It's just not their thing."

Nick shook his head in disgust. "Yeah. I've heard it over and over again -how irresponsible I am. Not going to college. Playing in a rock band. Not making something more of my life. They still make me feel useless."

"Nick, you followed your dream and look where it's gotten you. You're a huge success. You should be proud of your accomplishments." She looked so earnest staring up at him.

He needed to tone it down. Why was he even revealing his feelings of inadequacy to her? It was so stupid. He was mad at himself that he ever let it bother him in the first place. He had proven to them all that they were wrong, hadn't he?

He tried to brush off his anger and lighten the mood. "I didn't mean to sound so bitter. I am proud of my achievements. Now let's go get some more drinks and have some fun."

A few hours later, Allison had had several more rounds and was getting less steady on her feet and her friend was looking like she was ready to head home. He'd ended up having a great time just joking and hanging out with Allie and her friend, much more than he had originally expected.

Best of all, Nick had managed to successfully keep all the men away from her. And if his sister left now, he would still have time to find a hot woman to quench his growing needs. Being around Allison had left him horny as hell.

Several girls had been sending him signals all night, but despite the fact that they looked more than ready to please, he doubted it would lead to anything amazing. It would just be a way to vent his frustrations, because he didn't feel any answering spark of interest.

Dammit. Why had Allison brought up all that 'spark' business? He knew exactly what she was talking about. He had felt it before a few times, and once you felt it, it was as addictive as a hard-core drug. And if you felt it for the wrong person, it could be destructive and harmful, because of the sheer power it held over you.

He had felt that same palpable energy in the presence of Allison and it was becoming worrisome. He wasn't sure, but maybe she had felt the same about him; he had noticed little signs from her the last few times they were together. It was absolutely terrifying and yet insanely enthralling.

With Allison, he seemed drawn to her like a moth drawn to a deadly flame. Because, despite what he felt, she was the wrong person. If he screwed up, it would eventually lead to pain and devastation for both of them.

He was leaning up against the wall, nursing his beer while struggling with his thoughts, when Allison walked up to him.

"Claire's in line for the ladies' room, and she wants to leave as soon as she's done."

He checked his watch. "Yeah. It's getting pretty late."

She smiled at him. "So I guess I'll say my goodbyes now. But I'm totally coming to your show at the Arts Center tomorrow night. Make sure you don't forget to talk to Rosie."

"Don't worry, I already have a reminder set in my phone," he reassured her.

She moved towards him for a hug. "Thanks for hanging out tonight. It was a lot of fun."

He held his breath as he returned her embrace. He ignored the feel of her breasts crushed up against his chest. The fruity smell of her shampoo as her head leaned against his shoulder. The feel of her soft body molded perfectly against his own.

He didn't want to let go, but he had to, before she felt his throbbing cock twitching against her stomach. He let go, but she didn't back away. Instead, her hands slipped up his back as she gazed up at him. Warning bells started squawking in his head, but he seemed powerless to heed them.

He couldn't look away. She was putting him under a spell as she stared at him with a vulnerability shining in her eyes. Her lips parted softly as he remained frozen, unable to break the spell. Her lips drew closer as her body pressed into his fiery heat.

His heart sped up in anticipation. When her lips touched his, he was lost. The taste of her unleashed a long repressed lust that had been building between them. All rational thought was absent as his mouth devoured hers in his all-consuming passion; his tongue entwining with hers as he plundered her mouth ruthlessly.

She was making little moaning noises in her throat as she clung tightly to him and it caused his loins to clench with desperate need. Before he could stop them, his hands slipped down her back and clenched her ass, pressing her firmly against his hard erection. Her groan of awareness pierced straight through him. He was on the edge of losing control of the very last shred of sanity left to him. He had to stop this madness.

He tore his lips away from her mouth and took a deep breath trying to calm his raging libido. His hands quickly left her ass and landed on her hips, gently setting her apart from his body. He needed some space so that he could recover his senses.

A thousand thoughts ran through his head. What did he say to her now? He had kissed her like he wanted her. Desperately. And he did. But, it was a huge mistake. The kiss showed him that they would be explosive together, and he knew that her passionate response was genuine. Now that he knew, she was even more dangerous to his sanity. Regret pulsed through him. He needed to keep her at arm's length, physically and emotionally.

"You've definitely had too much to drink tonight."

He saw the jolt of hurt flash across her face, but treating her kiss just as a drunken impulse was the best thing for both of them.

Nick watched her as he leaned back casually against the wall, his face a mask of indifference. Allison looked everywhere but at him as she tried to compose herself.

She finally took a quick glance at him. "Okay. Bye. I guess I'll see
you tomorrow night."

She didn't even wait for a reply, but scampered off towards the rest room looking for her friend. Nick debated whether he should go after her. He felt like a dick, but what he did was really the best thing. Now that Allison probably hated him, he needed to work her out of his mind, for good.

  Chapter Three

I stood wrapped in a fluffy bath towel in front of my tiny closet wondering what to wear to the Cold Fusion concert that night. After our late night of partying in D.C. with Nick and the band, Claire and I had overslept. We hadn't woken up till after noon and then the quick lunch Claire insisted on, took much longer than I expected. Catching the Metro, walking to the restaurant, eating outside and then getting back to Claire's apartment ended up taking hours to accomplish.

On my drive back to Philadelphia, I called a friend to see if she'd go to the concert at the Arts Center with me. Luckily, she dropped her plans and decided to join me for the night. We wouldn't get to do any tailgating, but if I hurried we would catch all of Cold Fusion's set. My hair and makeup were finished; I just needed to decide on something to wear.

I grabbed my favorite go-to summer top, a black and white patterned crisscross tank top. The thick black straps left the top half of my back mostly exposed and I could go braless with the built in support. I knew that it looked sexy as hell without being obvious. The question was should I downplay it with casual shorts or go all out with a mini-skirt? I decided to compromise with a flirty black skirt that fell just above my knee.

On my long drive home, I had thought a lot about the night before with Nick. Nick's comment after our kiss had left me shaken. My first reaction had been to turn tail and run, but I wasn't one to run scared for long.

Yeah, I had gotten a little bit drunk and let emotions overtake my brain. I had played with fire and had gotten burned as a result. Usually, kissing was just a pleasant experience for me. When Alex kissed me, I had felt a stirring of something more sensual. But kissing Nick had blown me away. It had left me dizzy and lightheaded and aching to be with him in the most intimate of ways.
