“It’s in your hand, where it always stays.”

Hera laughed and walked over to her husband. “I’m not sure I’m in the mood for you to be all romantic and doting again quite yet.”

He pulled her into his arms and kissed her soundly. Their hearts beat together as she responded to his kiss. His desire was reflected in her eyes as the kiss ended. “Then you better get in the mood. I’m staying home for a long time when I get back.”

She rubbed against him. “The reception you get when you come home depends on how well you do this little errand.”

“You’ll see.” Zeus laughed and headed for the door, imagining all the delicious things he was going to do to Hera when he returned.

  * * * *

Layla ran to the door as whoever was outside knocked for the third time. “I’m coming.” She threw the door open and stopped, staring at the man standing on her porch.

“Colin. What do you want?” She wanted to slam the door in his face, but he looked like he’d probably break it down if she did so.

He was unshaven, his suit was wrinkled, and he smelled awful. Liquor, skipped baths, and gods knew what else. His eyes were red and puffy, his skin disgustingly pale, and he looked like he hadn’t been eating. His once strong body slumped against the doorframe, and he seemed ready to vomit on her shoes.

“What’s happened to you?” She wanted to be hard and cruel, but he looked so pitiful she had to feel sorry for him.

“You left me. You really left me, and I realized what a jerk I’d been to you for so many months.” He reached for her, but stumbled into the door instead.

“Colin, I’m sorry this has upset you, but I’m not alone. I know that sounds cruel, but it’s true. I’d rather you just leave. If you need me to call someone, I can. You don’t look well at all.”

“You never loved me, did you? Do you even know what love is?”

Layla sighed. “Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. I wouldn’t expect you to understand.”

Colin leaned against the wall and looked up the stairs. “So where is he? Is he going to kick me out?”

“No, but you really should leave. We have nothing to say to one another. I’m glad you realized that you’ve made mistakes, but you should use that knowledge in a new relationship. There’s no chance for us.” She didn’t think of Poseidon as the jealous type, but how would he react if he knew Colin was the one she’d left recently? Would he hurt him for having hurt her? She didn’t want to take any chances with an encounter between them. If Colin was really drunk, he might say or do anything.

“But I love you. How can you turn me away? We were going to get married, some day, and have a real life together. Children, everything.” He pulled her close. “How can you say it all meant nothing?”

As his arms tightened around her, she panicked. She knew Poseidon was upstairs, but in the back of her mind she remembered the rumor about Colin beating up a call girl. She found herself believing it. “Let go, please.”

“You gonna get your new friend?” He let her go and yelled up the stairs. “Hey, lover boy! I’m about to run off with your girl. You better come stop me!”

Layla closed her eyes, wondering what was going to happen. She hoped a tidal wave wasn’t about to rip through her house.

Nothing happened. In her mind, Layla called out to Poseidon, but she felt only emptiness. She heard nothing upstairs either. A cold shiver moved up her back as Colin touched her shoulder.

“So where is he?” he challenged.

“I don’t know.” She didn’t like the lecherous grin on his face.

“Still want me to leave? All my money, all the things I could give you? I’ll be good to you. This has woken me up, baby. Give me another chance. Can you really walk away from me?”

She stood her ground. “Yes. You never loved me, and I never loved you. I’ve seen love in a man’s eyes, and I see none in yours. You just want me because I walked away first.”

“It seems your new boyfriend has walked away as well.” He sneered.

“If he isn’t here, he has a damn good reason. When he finds out you were here, you’re going to regret it.”

“Am I? Won’t he get jealous? Suspicious?”

She shook her head. “We were meant to be together. Nothing could ever tear us apart. I love him, with all my heart, and nothing could ever change that.” She took a deep breath. It felt good to say the words, more for herself than for Colin. They had been in her heart all along, and she knew she would have found her way to Poseidon no matter what path her life might have taken.

Colin began to laugh, but the funny thing was that he looked happy. Very happy. Before she could pull away, he took her hand and spun her around, then took her in his arms and elegantly dipped her as though they’d been gliding around a ballroom, not arguing.

She wasn’t looking up at Colin. She was looking up into the stunning gray eyes of an incredible man with long, blond hair. Before she could speak, he kissed her soundly. His hands roamed her curves as his kiss took her breath away. Then he brought her back to an upright position and smiled at her, giving her a hearty squeeze.

“I must say, I’m more than glad to grant my brother’s request and welcome you into the fold. I only hope he’s willing to share.”

She felt herself being whisked out of the man’s arms, and then she heard Poseidon say, “Don’t count on it.”

Layla’s head was still spinning, but she knew Poseidon’s arms were wrapped around her and that the crowd in her front hall wasn’t an illusion. Hera stood between the gorgeous man and a smiling woman with long, blonde hair. “So, I get to meet the whole family?” she ventured. “Does this mean I’m in?”

“It certainly does,” Poseidon said. “This, as you might have guessed, is my brother Zeus. And this is Aphrodite.”

Zeus smiled at Layla. “A pleasure, I assure you.” He winked at her, but she noticed his fingers twined with Hera’s, her body pressed to his back. Even though he’d just kissed her, he seemed to belong by the side of the beautiful, dark-haired goddess, just as she belonged by Poseidon’s side.

Aphrodite rolled her eyes. “I knew he’d work in kissing you somehow, but Hera will punish him deliciously for it.” She shoved her way between Poseidon and Layla so she could hug her. “You’re going to love us, I promise. There is never a dull moment.”

Layla let out a deep breath and almost laughed. In movies and books, Hera and Aphrodite were usually complete bitches, but these two powerful goddesses had accepted her immediately. She could almost feel her heart bursting with happiness as Poseidon took her hand. “I’m sure of that. But what does this mean? Doesn’t Poseidon have to pass some sort of test?”

Zeus shook his head and explained. “I wanted to find out if you really loved Poseidon, so I did a little snooping and dug up that little weasel Colin. He worked perfectly.”

Layla let that sink in. “That’s really all we have to do? I’m immortal now?”

“My word is law, so any challenge I set is acceptable, but you aren’t immortal just yet.”

She looked at Poseidon, then back at Zeus. She could tell Hera and Aphrodite were trying not to laugh, but she didn’t understand why. “What else do we have to do?”

Aphrodite answered, “You have to have sex again.” She turned to Zeus. “Am I right?”

Zeus nodded his head. “I guarantee that your climax will be most…invigorating.”

As Layla blushed, then laughed, Poseidon pointed their three visitors toward the door. “Okay, let’s stop teasing my bride. You three go play somewhere.”

Aphrodite raised her eyebrows. “I think I’ll leave the two lovebirds to themselves.” She smiled at Poseidon. “There are plenty of fish in the sea, even if you’re here now.”

Hera said, “Proteus is free tonight. I had to break things off for more pressing matters.”

As Zeus and Hera stared into each other’s eyes, Aphrodite waved to Layla and Poseidon. “I’m out of here. These two are about to go right to
it.” She snapped her fingers and disappeared.

Zeus put his arms around Hera, adding a little smack on her ass. “That’s exactly what we’re about to do. You don’t mind if we use your lair, do you, Poseidon? It’s been a long time since I chained this bad girl up.”

“Be my guests. Anything you desire. Just get out.” He shoved them through the door and closed it, turning back to a giggling Layla.

“You mean you don’t want to be with your loved ones at this happy moment?” she asked. She couldn’t wait to get him to bed, but she also couldn’t resist teasing him.

He swept her off her feet and started carrying her up the stairs. “I’m with the one I love most, and that’s all that matters. If I’m not mistaken, we have something very important to do, and I can hardly wait.”

She closed her eyes, picturing a wedding by the sea as their lips met and they fell onto the bed together. His mouth was all over her, and she sighed.

“So how invigorating is this climax going to be?” she asked.

He gazed up into her eyes. “Very invigorating.” The heat in his eyes warmed her entire body as he pressed closer, kissing her again.

Their tongues danced together, and Poseidon took his time, savoring their embrace. Layla felt something shifting around them, almost like a cool breeze rising off the waves. She ran her hands through his hair, and he groaned under her touch.

He kissed his way down her body, caressing her. He licked her breasts, and he didn’t bring his mouth straight down to her pussy as he usually did. He just kept touching her and kissing her.

She writhed beneath him, arching her hips upward. She wanted him to touch her so badly she shuddered when his breath fell on her wet core.

  “Yes, my love?” he asked.

  “I need you.”

He licked her pussy, once, and then came back up to kiss her lips. “As much as I need you?”

  “Yes,” she whispered.

He framed her face with his hands, and then entered her slowly. She forced her hips up to take him in. He slid his cock in as far as he could and continued to look into her eyes. His intensity took her breath away. Their hearts beat as one, and their breath mingled as he began to push in and out of her.

Layla felt everything around her, every particle of air, every speck of dust. She felt herself reaching out as the breeze around them became stronger. She could hear the sea in her ears, feel its power inside of her. His cock drove into her, and she felt her pussy grow even wetter and tighter. She wrapped her arms around his neck and held on as she felt everything dropping away from them.

Their lips were almost touching as her pussy began to tremble. She felt him thrust, and then he came. She cried out his name as she soared, riding out her release in his arms. The heat and tremors spread all over her body as her pussy tingled and throbbed with pleasure.

She’d barely caught her breath when she felt his cock hardening inside of her. He thrust, hitting high and deep inside her pussy and making her groan. She pushed him up and flipped him onto the bed, then mounted his cock. He felt amazing buried inside of her.

“Olympus’ newest goddess is certainly demanding,” he teased.

“You’d best get used to it. Now that I’m a goddess, I’ll be far more demanding.”

His hands moved up to her breasts. He pinched her nipples. “I’m looking forward to it.”

She tried to steady herself on top of him. “Does it always feel like this?”

“Like what?” He moved his hips upward.

She groaned. “Like you’re floating. Like you’re everywhere at once.” She lost words for a moment, then added, “Like you can have whatever you want.”

He smiled up at her. “Yes.”

She smiled back and began riding him. His cock felt bigger than it ever had before. She raised her eyebrows.

He put his hands on her hips and drove her down onto his cock. “Now I can’t hurt you. You can see what you’ve been missing.”

She laughed and rode him faster, taking his cock deeper each time. She felt her entire being spreading, then merging with him. They both moaned, and she leaned forward to kiss him. He bent his legs to keep thrusting into her, and soon they both came apart again, devouring each other’s moans.

After a long moment, Poseidon said, “It’s amazing.”

  “What is?”

“Now I’ve experienced two new things—falling in love and worshipping a goddess.”

Layla brought her lips to his again. She looked into Poseidon’s eyes, and the love shining there told her just how happy they were going to be.
