Forbidden Steps: A Stepbrother Romance

He saw her as the woman she was. Not damaged. Not desperate for protection and love.

  Strong. Beautiful. And whole.

Agreeing to marry him didn’t scare her as much as the question she had for him the day he returned. Waiting just past security with Steph, she jumped to her feet when she spotted him, running to him, laughing and crying when he lifted her up in his arms.

  “Stay with me.”

He grinned, spinning her around and around until she was dizzy. “Always!”

“No, I mean today!” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I’m pretty sure you’ll drive me nuts at first. I may throw things at you. Maybe yell a little. But I don’t want to wait until we’re married to make it our home. I’m good alone. But I don’t want to be anymore.”

“Just the two of us?” His brow creased, as though he was afraid he shouldn’t have asked that. “You know I don’t mind if you want… I wasn’t expecting anything.”

“Unless you absolutely need Colin and Steph around…” Maybe she was the only one who’d seen what they had as something separate. She chewed at the inside of her cheek and shook her head. They might have started together, but things had changed. “No. Colin’s had you for long enough. I’m feeling selfish right now. Just the two of us. For at least a week or so.”

“Mmm, I like the sound of that.” He took her hand, snatching up his rucksack and canting his head in Colin’s direction before leading her to the exit. “I can share. But later. Much, much later.”

  Epilogue

The noisy clatter of children running up and down the stairs was driving Steph insane, but she wouldn’t complain too much. She spent a lot of time at work and rarely got to see her nieces and nephews. Considering her relationship with her stepsister and brother-in-law, one would figure the family would be very close, but sometimes months went by before she saw any of them.

With how much Ashley’s oldest sons looked like Colin, it was hard not to wonder if there was some animosity there. Of course, the men always acted like old buddies whenever they were together, but maybe…

The scent of grilled meat filled the room as Colin and Joey came in from the patio. After a quick glance around the kitchen, Colin spotted her, winked, then pressed Joey against the fridge.

“Just think. If you get that place down the block, I can do this to you whenever the hell I want.” Colin let out a low growl and kissed Joey, while rubbing his hand over the swell under the zipper of Joey’s work pants.

Joey laughed and pushed Colin away. “We’ll see. I love all the kids, but they make having grownup fun difficult.”

“Was Ashley aware that you have twins in your family? After the second set, I figured she’d have you neutered.”

“Ha! I think you can share some of the blame there, buddy.” Joey opened the fridge, pulling out three beers, then putting one back when Steph shook her head. “I love having a big family though. My parents are the only ones that stopped at two. I’m surprised you and Steph did the same.”

“We’re trying for another. Not sure we could handle five like you and Ashley, but…three’s a good number.” Colin took a few long gulps from his beer. “Part of why we asked you over, actually.”

Joey choked on his beer. “Seriously? Dude, seven kids in the house? Not happening.”

The front door opened and Steph winced as her mother called her name and all the kids came storming down the stairs to show her some love. Joey’s eyes narrowed. He’d taken Ashley’s side in distancing from her mother, but neither of them had really given the woman a chance. She’d changed in the past five years. At first, when Colin and Steph had gotten married, she’d been embarrassed and kept her distance. When she’d gotten sick, her outlook on life had changed. She’d given up all her pretenses and was proud of being a grandmother. Her new husband was a good man, and between them both, Steph’s son and daughter had the family she’d always wanted for them.

She wanted the same for Ashley and her kids, but she wasn’t sure how to bring up the subject.

This family dinner was a good start though. After being estranged from her mother for years, Ashley had agreed to come. Probably with some prodding from Joey, but all that mattered was that she was here.

Steph led the way to the living room, smiling as her son, Jaden, and her daughter, Melanie, settled at either side of her stepmother on the sofa. Jaden introduced his cousins to their grandmother.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all.” Grace held up an overloaded shopping bag. “I brought gifts!”

The kids cheered, instantly accepting her. Grace flashed Steph a brilliant smile, but it faded a little as she looked past Steph and the men.

“Hello, mother.” Ashley stopped by Colin’s side, inhaling slowly as he gave her hand a little squeeze. She offered him a fleeting smile before moving in close to Joey. “It’s nice to see you.”

Grace went still, then pulled away from the children as she stood. “I won’t ask you to give me another chance. Not yet. But you’re here, so maybe…maybe I can make up for the mistakes I made. I love you and I’m so proud of you. If that’s the only thing you ever want to hear from me again, I understand.”

Ashley’s lips quivered. She crossed the room, a sob breaking out before she fell into her mother’s arms. “I missed you. I’m sorry it took me so long to admit it.”

“Don’t be sorry. If it wasn’t for your brother and sister, I don’t know what would have happened to you. I was too self-centered to be the mother you needed.” Grace kissed her daughter’s cheek. “Maybe I can be now.”

  “I’d like that.”

They had dinner and everyone spent the night. Ashley and Joey were here for the week, shopping for houses in the area since Joey had taken a position at Colin’s repair shop, but without a babysitter, nothing would come of it.

By the end of the week, Ashley decided her mother could manage with the kids for one night. Steph wasn’t sure if she was more nervous, or excited. When she tucked Melanie in, she couldn’t help but be grateful that her daughter looked a lot like her. Because if anyone looked hard enough, they could see that Colin wasn’t her father.

Melanie would be three in a few months. Her conception marked the last time Steph had slept with anyone besides her husband.

Colin loved both their children, but she could tell he missed the excitement of sharing a bed with Ashley and Joey. The last time they’d all been together, Colin and Joey had been more…affectionate toward one another. Since then, there’d been a lot of teasing. She’d caught text messages between the two that made Colin groping him in the kitchen nothing more than expected.

Still, after all this time, were Ashley and Joey even the same wild couple that used to consider Steph and Colin an extension of their relationship? With kids, and jobs, and all the rest, kinky, uninhibited sex was a low priority.

The familiarity of being longtime lovers had faded. What if it was awkward and uncomfortable? What if nothing happened at all?

After splurging on a beautiful suite for the night, hopefully it wouldn’t be too disappointing.

You have Colin. Even if they don’t feel like fooling around, he’s still a fucking stud. The night won’t be wasted.

She smiled at the thought. Being a responsible adult limited their play time as much as anyone else, but every moment alone was well spent. If nothing else, Joey and Ashley could watch. Maybe take some notes.

But the second Colin opened the door, it was Ashley he reached for, not Steph. Wasting no time, he claimed her lips, holding her against the wall and tugging at the buttons of her plain, blue dress shirt.

Steph wasn’t jealous. Actually, seeing them together after so long had her wet and ready in seconds. She looked over at Joey, who was shutting the door after sliding the ‘Do not disturb’ tag into the key slot.

He gave Ashley and Colin a passing glance before striding right up to Steph and lifting her up in his arms. His kiss was unexpectedly sweet, and she wasn’t sure how to respond to the ten
derness.

Until he caught her off-guard by pushing her to her knees. Her mouth watered as he lowered the zipper of his jeans, pulling out his cock and bringing it to her lips as if expecting her to suck him off was the most natural thing in the world.

All her worries faded away as she took him in her mouth. His grip on her hair as he fucked her mouth, the taste of him on her tongue while she heard Colin’s low growl of pleasure in the background, had her core tightening with desire. This was exactly what she’d wanted.

  What she needed.

She bobbed her head until her jaw was sore, saliva slicking his length and spilling past her lips. They’d been apart for so long, she expected hard and fast to start, but he held back. With his fists pressed to his bare thighs, he panted, groaning in a way that made her sure he would finally come.

Instead, he jerked away from her and dropped to his knees. Gathering her face in his hand, he let out a breathless laugh. “I need more than your mouth, love. Fuck, I missed you.”

When he tugged her pale pink cashmere sweater over her head, she quickly moved to help him out, undoing her skirt and dropping it to the floor. She hadn’t bothered with panties, so by the time he laid her on her back on the floor, she was completely naked.

He was only wearing a black t-shirt as he moved to lay his body over hers. He was jerked up to his knees by Colin, who knelt behind him.

“You know what the price is for fucking my wife, Joey.” He sucked on the side of Joey’s neck. “Are you ready to pay?”

Pressing his eyes shut, Joey nodded and let Colin remove his t-shirt. One hand on the back of his neck, Colin forced Joey to lean over Steph. Joey’s whole body tensed as Colin pressed against him.

Ashley stepped up to his side, still so beautiful, even though her body had changed after carrying her babies. Her lush curves had Steph wishing she was closer, but Ashley’s focus was on Colin.

“Try not to break my husband, bro.” She handed Colin a bottle of lube. “My fantasy doesn’t involve him refusing to ever let you touch him again.”

“Your fantasy?” Steph stared at her little stepsister, not sure she knew the woman anymore. Over the years, she’d come to see Ashley as more reserved. The dirty fucking of the first time they’d all been together had been a one-time thing. Since then it had been more of a swap. Still fun, but nothing extreme.

They’d all settled down. Sex was great, alone or together, but she’d assumed they’d just switch up partners in a new way. She’d be with each of the men, then her sister. The men would experiment a little, and that would be it.

With a girlish giggle that made the tiny hairs on Steph’s arms rise, Ashley nodded. “They’re both mine, Steph. I can have them whenever I want, but seeing them together? With you?” Ashley ran her hand down Colin’s bare back. “I’ve never wanted anything more.”

Steph didn’t have a chance to work out how she felt about her stepsister’s words. As Colin slid into Joey’s body, he pushed Joey into her. The deep, rough penetration had her digging her nails into Joey’s shoulders. She kissed him as he trembled, either from pain or pleasure. Likely a little of both.

Sitting by her head, Ashley smoothed her hand over Steph’s cheek. As Steph gasped at a deep thrust, Ashley leaned down to kiss her. Then whispered. “Thank you.”

Those two words made Steph’s throat tighten, and she held Ashley’s hand as the pleasure blurred her vision. She’d wanted to take care of Ashley. Give her everything she deserved and more. Keep her happy and safe.

Success meant she would continue to give it to her. Forever.

And if the idea didn’t scare Steph a bit, it wouldn’t be as thrilling. They were a family without boundaries. Sharing their bodies. And their love.

All good things must come to an end.

But this wasn’t good. This was wicked.

  The End

  Game Misconduct

  THE DARTMOUTH COBRAS #1

The game has always cast a shadow over Oriana Delgado’s life. She should hate the game. But she doesn’t. The passion and the energy of the sport are part of her. But so is the urge to drop the role of the Dartmouth Cobra owner’s ‘good daughter’ and find a less . . .conventional one.

Playmaker Max Perron never expected a woman to accept him and his twisted desires. Oriana came close, but he wasn’t surprised when she walked away. A girl like her needs normal. Which he can’t give her. He’s too much of a team player, and not just on the ice.

But then Oriana’s father goes too far in trying to control her and she decides to use exposure as blackmail. Just the implication of her spending the night with the Cobras’ finest should get her father to back off.

Turns out a team player is exactly what she needs.

“Ms Sommerland takes us on an extremely incredible journey as we watch Oriana’s master her own sexuality. She comes to realize that there is more out there that she craves and desires, than she has ever realized.” Rhayne —Guilty Pleasures

If you’re a fan of hardcore BDSM, then this book is going to top your list of must reads!” Silla Beaumont —Just Erotic Romance

  About the Author

Tell you about me? Hmm, well, there’s not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order of course! Lol! When I’m not writing—which isn’t often—I’m usually watching a game or a car show while networking. Going out with my kids is my only downtime. I get to clear my head and forget everything.

As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I’d get extra cookies if I was quiet for a while—that’s how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author.

I hope one day to prove her right.
