“No I’ve got all that covered. I mean the Karma Life plan. What we were talking to Dirk and Kurt about earlier. Now we know Junior isn’t going to make a surprise entrance like Lola here. Shall we arrange the tour for beginning or end of March and get a month or two in at Solimar in January before that?”

“Do we have to decide now? I’m booked in for Monday. Let’s get through the weekend and then we can agree on the details.”

“Okay Angel.” He leant in to kiss her.

Jonny was desperate to get back to the warmth of the white island that they had their second home on. The winters were too long in England for him and they had both agreed it was better for Lola’s asthma if they went back to the warm climate as soon as they could.

Jonny would do anything for his daughter and he had surprised even himself at how he managed to love her as much as he loved her mother. Eliza had been his everything, and that hadn’t changed. Just somehow his beautiful daughter was as well.

“It’s just now the new single is doing so well, I think Jim Bob was keen to get some dates out there. Strike whilst the iron is hot, so to speak.”

She rolled her eyes. She wasn’t really feeling it. Seeing anything past the latter stages of pregnancy and a demanding toddler were difficult right now. She’d definitely entered that tetchy last few days where nothing Jonny could say or do would be right.

Although she was mightily proud of their last release. Taking inspiration from the flamenco music played at their wedding reception, Jonny and Kurt had immersed themselves in the traditional Spanish guitar sound and come up with a huge hit. One they had entitled “Gypsy Girl,” after Jonny and Eliza’s daughter.

The single had lead to a whole album of acoustic guitar influenced songs. Kurt running with the vibe as much as Jonny.

They were at the point with Karma Life where they could experiment with their sound and not lose fans. Avid fans that were happy to grow with them.

But right now she needed to focus on the birth of their son. They’d had a few scares along the way, and the doctor had ordered that she rest in bed for the later stages, and not wanting a repeat of the premature ending to her last pregnancy, she pretty much did as she was told.

Junior, as they decided to officially call him in the end, came into the world in a more relaxed fashion than his elder sister and life with two children quickly became a natural norm.

Sure they had family around them for support and hired help in Ibiza. Both of which made it a hundred times easier. His mother and father had now moved into their London home too. It was big enough for them not to get on top of each other and the on tap babysitting was a welcome bonus.

It also helped with their privacy, strangely enough. For Jonny his children’s anonymity was sacred. Sure they had famous parents who had to tolerate a certain amount of media coverage but the way the paparazzi had become so intrusive in the last few years was too much as far as Jonny was concerned. Especially when it came to his children.

He used to think it was funny escaping through service doors at restaurants and night clubs and wearing a baseball cap as a disguise to go shopping, but it had got out of hand now.

The paps were constantly camped outside their London home in Primrose Hill, much to the distaste of their neighbours. On one hand they would boast about having Jonny and Eliza from Karma Life living in their neighbourhood on the other complain about having no on street parking. “Should have bought houses with bigger drives to park their precious Porches.” His mother would retort when she came in furious for having received another earful from a neighbour.

The blackened out windows on the family Range Rover meant the reporters never knew whether it was Jonny and Eliza or his mother and father entering their high walled, electric gated fortress. Having his family live in the six bedroomed house year around was a stroke of genius Jonny thought. He liked giving the paps the run around. Added a little humour to the crappy hounding they had to endure.

They had only done a couple of one off fund raising gigs since Lola had been born. Eliza was a little traumatized by the birth, Jonny too if he was being honest. They spent a good few months getting to grips with parenthood. An alien concept for both of them, not really having been around children much themselves.

Dirk and Kurt were cool with lying low for a while, but recently the concept of a tour had been talked about more and more. Eliza needed to be fully on board with it though. Karma Life was nothing without her.

Jonny knew she would come around to the idea. Eventually. She still needed to be Eliza, his Angel. Tied at home with two children all day, every day would never suit her free spirited nature.

  ***

They boarded their private jet to fly back to their holiday home on Ibiza. Ibiza gave them that escape. Their villa was totally private. Locals didn’t seem to care what they did for a living, and whilst reporters did visit the party island they never hung around. All the celeb visitors stayed in gated villas and attended exclusive private parties and sunbathed on secluded beaches. It just wasn’t worth the editor’s budget to send them there for a fleeting image.

He stopped at the top of the stairs, as was customary for Jonny, and breathed in the air. That Ibizan summer air that instantly relaxed him.

Then he turned to pick up the tetchy toddler that he affectionately called his gypsy girl. She was rubbing her eyes with one small fist and clenching her beloved floppy eared rabbit with the other.

She flung her sleepy face into his shoulder.

Their housekeeper come nanny was on the runway. She ran up to them, clip clopping across the tarmac in the clogs Eliza had brought her from Holland. She was desperate to get her hands on the children. Their surrogate mother.

“You okay, Angel?” He called back to Eliza.

“Yeah, just getting to grips with this sling. He’s not finished feeding.”

He laughed. “Tell him they’re mine and not to be so greedy.”

“Jonny! You’re too much.” She laid a playful punch on his arm.

“Yeah but that’s why you love me.” He put his hand behind her head and pulled her in to a kiss that he knew would get her worked up. Every time. “Just you wait ‘til we get home.” He whispered into her ear, sealing the promise with a nibble on her lobe. “How many children did you say you wanted?”

  “Actually I didn’t.”

“Okay good, we’ll go for a plane full then,” he laughed.

  “No. I mean. I didn’t want any.”

“Oh yeah, I remember now. No pets, no kids.” He laughed again.
