B.D. Stepped out of the RV enraged. “Get those fuckers!” he screamed men ran in all directions grasping for weapons and fighting one another in the heavy smoke. Will had gone around the back of the RC feeling his way along its side trying to make his way back to the cars. A sound great louder and louder the closer he got. A familiar sound. It was a helicopter a UH60 Black Hawk helicopter to be exact. A bright light shown down on the camp and automatic gunfire rang out from above. Will dropped to his stomach and climbed under the RV. Due to the blades of the helicopter the smoke was beginning to clear. Men were falling all around and the gunfire didn’t stop until he saw no more movement at all. He could hear the helicopter landing near their rendezvous point and climbed out from under the RV. Through the clearing smoke he could see Dan and Anika being helped aboard. A soldier with an assault rifle stood by as the chopper continued to run. Anika hugged the pilot and wept. He could hear her say “Mom!” over and over. Dan collapsed into seat.
Will raised his hands in submission walking toward the craft “MY NAME IS CORPORAL WILL LANE OF THE UNITED STATES MARIN...” A hand covered his mouth. “Shut up!” B.D. said as he jammed the pistol in Will’s back. The soldier standing guard raised his weapon but there was no shot. B.D. Drug him back into the smoke, the two of them disappearing. “We’ve got to go” Said the pilot and the soldier climbed on the side as the Black Hawk took off. Dan struggled to get off but before he could they had already ascended too high.
Back on the ground Gordon crawled out from under his Red Honda. Entering the smoke he grabbed the rifle of a fallen man. B.D. was dragging Will onto the bus as he fought. He noticed Gordon coming his way, a look of determination on his face. “Oh good Gordy! Get his legs he said.” Unphased and showing uncharacteristic calm Gordon raised the rifle and put two rounds into B.D.’s skull. The man dropped his pistol and fell in a pile on the Bus steps. Will put his hands up. Gordon threw down the rifle and stuck out his hand. Will hesitated for a long time before he recognized Gordon wanted to shake. He shook his hand. Then without saying a work Gordon took him under his shoulder and helped him back to the red Honda then set off in the direction the helicopter had flown.
