And Then You Fall (Crested Butte Series) Page 28

by Heather A Buchman

He hit the play button and watched her fly around the barrels, as if she’d been born to do it. Mark panned over to the timer Renie held in her hand. Seventeen-three. Ben was alone in his hotel room, but he jumped up and down and danced around anyway. One more week and he’d be home and they’d celebrate together.

Ben was in the stands on December 15, when Olivia Rice came in fourth place in Barrel Racing at the National Rodeo Finals. He knew next year his wife would win, he could feel it in his bones.

The CB Rice concert at the Mandalay Bay complex taking place later that night was sold out, as every other show on their tour had been.

They met backstage right before he went on. “I can’t wait to get you home baby.”

“We’re not getting out of bed until Christmas,” Liv answered.

  “The only thing is . . .”

“What? What could there possibly be Ben?”

“I kind of miss your old kitchen.”

  “Then we’ll remodel ours.”

“I doubt Billy Patterson appreciates what he got when he bought your place. Do you think he even knows how to cook?”

“Doubt it, but I’m sure he’ll find a pretty little cowgirl to do it for him.”

  About this Book

  The Author

I write because I love it. My books are filled with things that bring me joy: music, wine, skiing, kids, artists and cowboys. Not always in that order. Pretty simple really.

I’ve always been creative. My husband and I have owned a marketing firm for many years, where I am a copywriter and designer; I’ve edited and designed two hundred books for a small press publisher; and in my spare time, I became certified as an executive sommelier.

I’m an east coast girl, who spent half her life on the west coast. But now my husband, our two boys and I happily call Colorado home.

  The Music

The character of Ben Rice and the band, CB Rice, are fictional—figments of my imagination. However, certain songs and lyrics used in this book are not. GB Leighton has graciously given permission for their use. For more information, or to download the songs featured in this book, please visit gbleighton.com.
