  Kitty Anne in Charge

Nick Dickles never believed in love at first sight, but things change the moment he lays eyes on Kitty Anne. Beautiful, funny, and crazy as the day is long, she’s an addiction he doesn’t want to be cured of. There is just one little problem—Lynn Anne, the mother-in-law from hell.

GD is on a mission. He has a kid to protect, a mystery to solve, and club to manage, but none of that matters when he first sees Kitty Anne. She’s his Venus, and he stands ready to worship her, though the harder job will be to keep her out of mischief.

Kitty Anne knows she’s in trouble the minute she catches a glimpse of GD. Fortunately for her, she loves trouble, but things spin completely out of control when Nick Dickles joins them. It’s two against one, but Kitty Anne is still in charge.

  Chapter One

  Tuesday, May 27th

George Davis sighed and cracked his head from side to side as he pointedly shifted in his seat. He tried to stretch out every muscle he could as he waited outside the Dothan library in his truck for the supposedly hot and totally psychotic librarian to come out.

That was how Aaron and Jacob had described Kitty Anne Allison.

Of course, if those two idiots were to be believed, the woman was not only nuts but also scary as hell, not that GD put any faith in those knuckleheads’ opinions. What the hell did they know about women anyway?

Not much as far as GD was concerned. Sure, the brothers were known to be weird. Very weird. That was a hell of a reputation to earn, given the things that went down at the Cattleman’s Club. Cattlemen, after all, were not known for their normalcy.

Apparently, Kitty Anne was, or at least that was what she wanted Cole and his cousins to believe. She’d sold them all a story about how she was just a good girl who happened to be engaged to a very boring guy and wanted one last hurrah before she settled down. Of course, that was a crock of shit.

It hadn’t taken GD more than two hours online to bust that barrel of lies right open. First off, there was no fiancé. Second off, Kitty Anne was apparently far from being a good girl. After all, a good girl wouldn’t be trying to lure Cole into paying her for sex.

  Not just sex.

Kinky, tie-a-man-to-the-bed sex, which GD didn’t object to on principal, but there was something more going on here. Kitty wasn’t just playing one role, but two, because she wasn’t a prostitute either. What she was was friends with Rachel Allen. Rachel had something going on with Hailey Mathews, who had a bone to pick with Cole.

Hailey and Cole were at war as far as GD could tell. It was a sweaty, twisted war that was either going to end with Cole in jail or with Hailey pregnant. GD’s money was on Cole. He, at least, had enough sense to figure that out before Kitty had gotten out the chains.

Instead, he’d sent his cousins in to check things out, but Aaron and Jacob weren’t half as stupid as Cole thought. They’d caught the scent of trouble and were not coming back for more. Fortunately, GD didn’t mind trouble…or being bound and at the mercy of a woman who knew how to make him beg. Just as long as a woman could take what she gave, she was free to have her fun. GD didn’t believe there should be any limits on that commodity.

That was just the way he lived his life, with a diehard conviction that every day should be enjoyed…at some point
. This was not his point. This was the point in the day when he wondered if he could have a more boring job. Watching people was only entertaining when there were people to watch.

Right then, Miss Kitty Anne Allison was a no-show.

Maybe it was time to go take a peek for himself and make sure she hadn’t given him the slip. That thought was laughable, but GD rolled with it, taking any excuse to stretch his legs. After all, this wasn’t a real case, and he wasn’t getting paid for his time. He might as well make the most of it and get some practice in doing something other than sitting on his ass.

So he spent the next half-hour creeping up on the library. Sticking to the thickest shadows, he moved silently through the night, avoiding the overhead, security cameras and the lights. GD finally reached the line of shrubs that ran down the back of the brightly colored building. He crawled behind them up to the door that he knew was locked but doubted was alarmed.

He was about to find out.

Keeping his big body tucked up behind the prickly bush that hedged the back entrance, GD allowed only his hands to creep into the light as he made short work of picking the outdated bolt on the library’s door. Then it was just a matter of holding his breath and opening it with slow caution.

  Thankfully no alarms sounded.

The hinges didn’t even squeak as he pulled the door open far enough to slip into a dark, narrow hall. It led down past several doors and out into the library’s lobby. The whole building was shrouded in shadows except for a strip of light coming from under the break room door. The clear peals of laughter leaked out into the hall, and GD paced steadily forward until he could make out the words that formed out of the murmurs.

“How very interesting, Mr. Jackson, but I think I have a better idea…What do you think? Too coy?...Too coy.”

There was only one voice doing all the asking and all the answering and only one woman GD could see as he eased back the door just enough to spy on the woman staring at herself in the mirror. He might have been struck by how crazy she was if he hadn’t gone plum dumb at the very sight of her.

  God but she was beautiful.

Kitty Anne’s picture really didn’t do her justice. While it had conveyed the strength of her features and the determined line of her jaw, it stopped short of actually capturing the spirit that animated her expression of annoyance with such a glow that he was instantly captivated. She was a Venus.

  His Venus.

  He’d found his one.

GD recognized that truth and accepted it without any hesitation. He’d always known this day would come. Of course, he’d been expecting it to come out at the club, because after all his Venus wouldn’t be perfect if she didn’t accept that he had certain sexual appetites that needed to be appeased. It didn’t hurt that most of the women out at the club were built like goddesses.

Not that GD was complaining about Kitty Anne’s packaging. She was definitely built right, even if she chose to dress as if she belonged in some Technicolor movie. GD eyed the bountiful curves of her breasts constrained behind a sweater tight enough to be indecent but with a collar and sleeves demure enough to be matronly.

The same could be said of her skirt. It was long enough to cover her knees but hit right at the perfect curve of her calf and stretched snugly over the luscious round rump of her ass. She looked both plush and firm, a natural vixen who managed to turn a grandma outfit into a sexy one.

She fit Jacob and Aaron’s description to a T, looking just like a sex kitten all wrapped up in a lethally pure packaging. The woman obviously practiced her craft, which was just what she was doing right then as she turned back toward the TV glowing with the image of an old black-and-white movie.

GD didn’t recognize it, but he could tell enough to know the movie wasn’t that old. It was a noir film, one of those overwrought, overacted, highly styled movies that only crazy people watched in dark break rooms after work. Of course there was crazy good and crazy bad. He had a sense he knew which one Kitty Anne was.

“You can do this, Kitty Anne. Take a deep breath,” she instructed herself as she paused the movie and turned back to her reflection. “Just look him in the eye…and smile…no teeth?”

She glanced back at the TV screen and studied the close-up of a brunette wearing long gloves and an evening gown.

“No teeth,” Kitty Anne answered herself with a shake of her head and turned back to smile at her reflection, checking several more times as she perfected a slight curl of the lips that held the same sense of wicked innocence that the actress on the TV conveyed.

“Smile. No teeth. Deep breath, lift the chest and say, ‘How very interesting, Mr. Jackson, but I think I have a better idea.’ Oh yeah.” Kitty Anne nodded, breaking out of her whisky-honeyed voice to smirk at her reflection. “That is it. Mr. Cole Jackson is going to be drooling in his sippy cup.”

GD highly doubted it but couldn’t help but admire the sudden display of spunk and attitude. He appreciated that it must have taken a lot of training and practice to become the kind of Venus Kitty Anne had clearly modeled herself into. It was also clear that she was as crazy and nuts as Aaron and Jacob had sworn.

  * * * *

Kitty Anne sighed as she clicked off the TV and rolled the ancient media station back into the corner. It had gathered dust there for years before she’d gotten hired several months back. She had a whole bunch of old tapes and no VCR to watch them on. More importantly, she didn’t have the money to buy a VCR.

  That was all right.

Kitty Anne enjoyed holding her movie nights at the library after everybody had gone home. Tonight, though, wasn’t about entertainment. She’d needed to practice and get herself ready for the big show that would be going down in a couple of days. The big show… Kitty Anne smiled as she glanced back at her reflection, not daring to admit, even to herself, that she was a little unnerved by the scheme she’d gotten herself involved in this time.

  She could end up arrested…again.

Of course, Kitty Anne had never regretted anything she’d done and wouldn’t this time either. It didn’t matter how crazy the scheme was, she was doing this for Rachel, who happened to be her best friend and, pretty much, her only real friend. There really wasn’t anything Kitty Anne wouldn’t do for her, including getting arrested.

Hell, Rachel would bail her out, and in the process, Kitty Anne might actually make some new friends. After all, this time it wasn’t either Rachel or Kitty Anne who had come up with their master plan. That honor belonged to the notorious Patton Jones.

Kitty Anne had liked Patton almost from the first moment she’d met her, feeling a strange kind of kinship with her almost from the start. Perhaps that was because Patton was just doing what she was doing to protect her best friend, Hailey. That was where the details got convoluted, and Kitty Anne’s attention span had clocked out.

It didn’t matter. She didn’t need to know the rhyme or reason behind the master plan. She just needed to know her role, and she knew it well. If she got arrested in the end, then Kitty Anne would go down smiling and having fun. That was what really counted. After all, life could be so boring.

Everyday waking up and going to the same job, doing the same thing, having the same conversations with the same people, Kitty Anne had been living the same day over and over again. Was it any wonder that it had driven her insane?

  She needed a break.

She needed a laugh. Cole and his two bungling cousins were definitely good for that. Aaron and Jacob, the cousins, they were so adorably innocent, blushing at any mention of her dominating them. That was definitely not their kink.

Cole, on the other hand, seemed to be nothing but full of perversions. Having spent enough time around enough players, Kitty Anne knew enough to recognize one on sight. Handsome, with smooth moves and quick comebacks, Cole was used to the women of the world bowing before his neatly polished boots. He was vain, arrogant, and Kitty Anne couldn’t figure out for the life of her why Hailey was in love with the man.

&nbs
p; There was no denying that she was in love with the man, even if she had basically hired Kitty Anne to seduce and humiliate him. So, really, Kitty Anne had to figure she wasn’t the truly screwed-up one in the group, which was unusual, given her background. This time, though, she was among her own kind, which was just why Kitty Anne wouldn’t back down.

She was going to lure Cole to a motel that operated as a known brothel. There she was going to seduce him into letting her tie him to the bed. Then she was going to take pictures, abandon him, and call the cops. Given Cole was expecting to pay for the pleasure of her company, he’d have enough cash to get taken down with everybody else.

In the end, Hailey would have her proof that Cole was a wanderer. Cole would be utterly disgraced, and Rachel would have a front-page exclusive that included pictures. That was the plan, but deep in her gut, Kitty Anne knew this was going to backfire all over her.

That was sort of what made the whole thing worth doing. There was nothing Kitty Anne loved more than trouble. One thing trouble was not was boring. There was nothing that Kitty Anne hated more in the world than being bored. So she’d done her best to scare off Cole’s cousins, which hadn’t been hard. Now she had a meeting with the man himself.

Cole had agreed to meet Kitty Anne for cocktails at the sleaziest dive she dared to enter, which was pretty damn sleazy, given Kitty Anne wasn’t afraid of much. They’d see if the same could be said of Cole. If he played it cool, he’d meet her gaze and hold it. Kitty Anne knew that moment of silence would be her friend and prod him into taking the lead.

He’d have a come-on, and she’d counter. She’d remember to breathe deep, hold his gaze, and smile with no teeth as she purred over her words.
