“If I break it, I can’t use it.”

I sat up, fighting against the pain that still burned in my chest and pulled her to me, panting and sweating like I was running a fucking marathon. “Shut the fuck up and fuck me hard. I need you.”

“You should have asked a few weeks ago,” she panted.

“I would have if I’d have thought you would actually be ready. But now that I know you are, you’ll be here more often, sucking my cock and finding out all the ways that we fit together.”

“Work,” she panted. “I still have to work.”

“You can fit me in on your lunch break.”

I rolled her over, falling off the couch with her and landing on the floor. I started fucking her hard, clenching my eyes shut, praying that I didn’t come yet. I still wanted so much more from her.

“Not when we start working together. Cap will-”

“Fuck Cap. I’ll talk to him.”

“No,” she said so suddenly that I stopped moving. Staring into her eyes, I tried to figure out where her head was at. “If you want to fuck, this stays between us. Nobody else can know.”

I stared at her for a moment, sure I had heard her wrong, but the truth of her words was written all over her face. “For now.”

And that’s all I would give her. Now that I had her, I had to start figuring out a way to make her mine. Forever.

  CHAPTER TEN

  Florrie

  Two years ago…

He slammed into me from behind as I gripped onto the counter in the bathroom. We were in here under the pretense that he was cleaning my wounds. Craig was on guard duty. It was so fucking wrong. We had a client in the other room sleeping and we were supposed to be monitoring the safe house. But when Alec brought me in here to clean me up after we barely escaped a shootout, something carnal took over, and here I was, bent over the counter and still dripping blood.

“Why the fuck did you do that?” Alec growled as he pushed inside me.

  “I was doing my job.”

  “You distracted the shooter.”

“So, he didn’t fucking shoot you. I thought that was pretty clear.”

He pushed down between my shoulder blades, holding me in place, and started fucking me so hard my hips were sore from where they were hitting the counter.

“You shouldn’t have done that. You should have done what I told you to.”

“But then you’d be dead,” I panted. When I saw the men going after him when his cover was blown, I couldn’t follow his orders. He was my teammate and my lover. There was no way I could walk away.

“You left yourself exposed. You were fucking shot.”

  “It was a graze.”

“How the hell was I supposed to know that?” He gripped my hair and pulled me back so he could look at my face. “I saw you go down and all I could think about was getting to you. I can’t fucking stand the thought of you not being safe.”

“Then you need to learn to trust me,” I said calmly, trying to soothe the beast inside. Somehow, in the past year, I had gone from lustful to needing Alec so bad I could hardly breathe. Only Alec had gone from lustful to downright possessive. He watched my every move like the ground would swallow me up if I didn’t follow in the same steps as him. Whenever he could get me alone, he fucked me harder, proving to me exactly who I belonged to. And I did belong to him. His eyes trapped me and held me to him. All he had to do was look at me and I couldn’t resist anything he wanted.

The hard part was keeping it quiet. Over the past year, Alec had gotten more and more attached to me, and if I was honest, I had started to get attached to him also. I just didn’t want it interfering at work. We still had a job to do and I just couldn’t see how we could make it work if this turned into more than fucking. Or worse, if everyone knew that we were fucking. That led to questions and one very uncomfortable confrontation with Craig.

“Florence,” he growled and I bit at the hand that was moving around my neck.

  “Don’t call me that.”

  “It’s fucking beautiful.”

  “I hate it.”

He gripped my hips and thrust so hard that the cabinet on the walls rattled. His hand slipped around to my face and he covered my mouth just before his other hand slipped to my front and his fingers pinched my clit. I let out a scream so loud and dirty that I knew we would attract attention.

His cum spilled down my legs as he pulled out, but I didn’t have time to clean up before I heard the footsteps pounding down the hall. Alec flicked the lock on the door just seconds before Craig stood outside the bathroom door.

“Are you okay?” he shouted through the door.

“Fine,” I shouted, trying to sound normal. “This asshole just pressed too hard on my wound.”

“Be careful, Alec. Fuck, she was shot trying to save your ass.”

Alec growled as he stared me down, but I just shrugged him off. He leaned in, caging me between his arms as he pushed me back against the counter. “Tell him,” he said in deep voice against my ear. “Just fucking tell him.”

“No.” I stared him down, refusing to give in. “Nobody needs to know.”

  “Why the fuck not?”

“Because, you’re already getting too possessive. If you could display that in the open, I would get taken off my team. There’s no way Cap will let us work together if your assholery comes out.”

He slid his hand around my neck, cupping the back of my head in his hands. His hot breath skimmed across my face and his erection dug into my stomach. “You haven’t seen anything yet. You’re mine, Florrie. One of these days, we won’t be able to hide it anymore.”

“It won’t last anyway,” I said irritatedly. There was no way we could continue like this, and there was no way Cap would let us work on the same team if we were fucking. “We’ll get sick of each other or one of us will want out for some reason.”

“I’ll never want out,” he said fiercely. “You’re mine.”

“I’m not yours. I’m a woman you fuck.” His eyes darkened and his grip on my neck tightened. “You know this can’t go anywhere. At some point, we’ll have to walk away or risk our jobs.”

“You’re so willing to walk away from me?”

My gaze flicked down so he couldn’t see the truth in my eyes. “Eventually, but not yet. Not unless you push me.” I looked back into his eyes and steeled myself against his anger. “And if you think you can go behind my back and tell Cap, I’ll walk away and you won’t ever see me again. You won’t even get a goodbye.”

He stepped back, giving me my space, then turned and walked out of the bathroom, leaving me to clean up my own cuts. I shook off the nerves racing through me. I couldn’t give in. I wouldn’t. He was too strong, too powerful compared to me. He would crush me like a bug if I gave him the chance. My heart just couldn’t take it.

“Hey, I thought Alec was cleaning you up?” Craig asked as he stared at my cut up arm.

“Yeah,” I snorted. “You know he sucks at medical shit. Here,” I said, tossing him the first aid kit. “Just patch me up so I can get back on duty.”

“She needs to rest.” I looked up to see Alec standing in the doorway glaring at me.

“If I needed to rest, then why were you such an asshole in here?”

“Yeah,” Craig chimed in, not understanding what I was really saying. “You didn’t even clean her up.”

“She’s out the rest of the night. You and I will take the rest of the watch.”

  “I’m-”

“I don’t give a shit. I’m the team leader and I say you need to sit it out the rest of the night. Besides, we’re in a safe house and we’re monitoring everything.”

He turned and walked away, leaving me even more pissed than before. This was why I couldn’t be more with him. He was already walking all over me.
