"Vin," Caeli hesitated and looked up to face him, "what are we going to do with the book? Eventually, someone will come looking for it again. Jaddah was wise not to tell us about it and to keep it out of our house all those years ago. I would prefer if it were not stashed in our closet any longer than necessary."
The Book of Elements was the only thing they carried away with them from the site. Everything else, they left for the authorities to sort out.
"I don't know yet. Part of me wants to destroy it, and another part of me feels that it has a greater purpose yet to be served. I'm not ready to consider it yet. I'm sure we have some time to figure it out. Speaking of time," Vin glanced up at the now empty window, "I think it's time for us to return to our own home."
Vin and Caeli turned and walked arm in arm up the dock.
