“I’m set up, and I just saw the kids’ lights go out,” Rachel noted.

“Okay, we’re on our second round of hot tea with Granny Stanton over here,” Beth said.

“Alright, the plan is simple. Have the old lady call and get him over there to fix something, whatever, and then stall him while I get the kids out.”

  “Copy that.”

As Rachel waited for notification that the phone call was made, the familiar voice of Curtis Walker came over the ear bud comms, “What do you need me to do?”

Rachel instinctively grinned from ear to ear at the sound of his voice but shook it off to continue the illusion of professionalism.

“Couldn’t stay away, could you?” she asked with a hint of flirtatiousness.

  “No, I guess not.”

Without further hesitation, Rachel ordered, “Good, well, come meet up with me, and you can help me take the kids out. I’ll brief you in person.”

  “Alright, I’ll be right there.”
