  12. Roll each ball in corn flakes, pressing gently to ensure cereal flakes stick to dough.

  13. Place dough ball in sugar-spice mixture and use teaspoon to sprinkle mixture on all sides.

  14. Position dough balls on prepared baking sheets.

  15. Bake for 14 to 17 minutes.

  16. Remove from oven and cool briefly on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.

  Maple Bacon Walnut Scones

  Ingredients

  2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  1/4 cup granulated sugar

  2-1/4 teaspoons baking powder

  6 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

  2 large eggs

  3 tablespoons maple sugar

  2 cups diced bacon and/or ham

  1 cup chopped walnuts

  Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).

  2. Prepare two baking sheets: lightly grease or line with parchment paper.

  3. Combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder and salt.

  4. Use pastry blender, fork or fingers to blend cubed butter into dry ingredients until mixture is coarse and crumbly.

  5. Whisk together eggs, cream and maple sugar in a separate bowl.

  6. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients; hold aside 2 tablespoons of the egg-cream mixture.

  7. Fold in diced bacon/ham and walnuts; mix until all ingredients are combined.

  8. On a floured surface, shape the dough into a circle (8- to 9-inches in diameter).

  9. Brush top of the dough with remaining egg-cream mixture.

  10. Divide dough into 14 wedges with cutter or knife.

  11. Arrange wedges evenly on prepared baking sheets.

  12. Bake for 20 minutes or until tester placed in center comes out clean.

  13. Cool on wire rack briefly before serving warm with butter, honey or other favorite condiments.
