"Oh." The memory came back to Elena, of Static's quote from that newspaper article. Of course she wasn't the only one who felt remorse for hurting someone.

"I'm not saying I think you'll hit that point, but even if you did, that's okay. Again, it'd worry me a hell of a lot more if you didn't feel bad about it at all."

"I'm definitely not planning to quit already," Elena said. "I can do it. It's just, heavy in ways I wasn't fully prepared for." She leaned in and kissed Lacy gently. "But then again, joining the group also gave me an opportunity I wasn't expecting."

"Oh, you didn't join just to get close to a sexy female superhero?" Lacy laughed before pecking Elena's cheek.

"No, but I'm so glad that I found one anyway."

Lacy kept giggling, so Elena pulled her in close to muffle her with kisses. Her tensions and thoughts melted away as Lacy held her tight and kissed her back. Elena's complicated thoughts and feelings on being a superhero would still be there when she woke up, but so would the city of LA with not a single life lost and, just as importantly, Lacy would still be there, too.
