The Wolf Wore Plaid

He leaned down to kiss her and she eagerly kissed him back. He loved the feel of her hot lips against his mouth, the way she speared him with her tongue, and pressed her body against his.

His cock would have been standing at attention if he’d been undressed. Instead, it was straining for release, feeling her pressed against it, making him even harder. He groaned as he wrapped his arms around her and held her tight, wanting to keep her like this forever.

He nuzzled her face and she nipped at his ear as if she were a wolf in play, only in a sexy way this time. When they’d played as wolves and he’d pinned her down, he’d been turned on and had thought about the afterward—here, like this with her. He had planned on playing it by ear, but he was glad she had taken charge and made it clear this was just what she had wanted, too, as she wrapped her arms tighter around him and pressed harder against his body.

He groaned and ran his hands through her long, silky hair. “Beautiful.”

“Hmm.” She kissed his bare chest and licked a rigid nipple, sending an electric shock straight through to his groin.

His cock jumped and she rubbed her lithe body against him. She wasn’t making it easy for him to slowly seduce her the way he wanted to. He was ready to rip off her clothes and take her right then and there.

He pulled off her wool shirt and tossed it aside, then leaned down to kiss her throat, his tongue laving a path to a breast, taking hold of the edge of the lacy cup of her bra and pulling it down with his teeth.

She moaned and arched her back, the connection between her pelvis and his cock making him stifle another groan.

He laved her dusky nipple with his tongue and then pulled at the taut peak with his lips. She grasped his shoulders and held on as if she were going to collapse at any second. He smiled and let go of her nipple, then reached back to unfasten her bra. He pulled the straps down her arms, and once the bra slid to the floor, he cupped her creamy breasts in his hands and gently kneaded them.

Her skin was soft and kissable. He caressed her skin with his lips, loving the feel of it against his mouth.

Back to kissing her enticing mouth, he felt the heat building in his blood, their hearts pumping hard.

She smelled of the piney woods and the fresh breeze from their wolf run, of lavender, woman, and sexy wolf. Her musky scent was an aphrodisiac and their pheromones were spinning out of control. This had never happened with him with any other woman he’d dated. Heather made him want to go further than he’d ever gone before with a she-wolf.

She ran her hands over his biceps, feeling them, squeezing, rubbing her body against his arousal again, telling him she was interested in every bit of him. Not just the kissing.

She reached down and began to unfasten his belt, and then his jeans. He did the same with hers, unfastening and then pulling the button from the buttonhole. He realized both of them were wearing their hiking shoes. That wouldn’t do.

He took hold of her shoulders and sat her on his bed. Man, he’d never thought he would be sleeping with her tonight. He leaned down and untied one of her shoes and pulled it off, and then the other. He slipped off her wool socks next and massaged her left foot and she leaned back against the bed, hands in her hair, and purred.

He was thinking of the night she gave him a massage. Now he got to reciprocate. Except he didn’t have her lavender lotion to use. He switched to the other foot and gave it the same gentle massage before sliding his hands up her jeans and pulling down the zipper, then slipping them off her hips and pulling them the rest of the way clear.

He quickly dispensed with his boots, socks, and jeans, then slid his boxer briefs off.

Looking appreciatively at him, she smiled, waiting for him to get on with business. He was certainly ready to oblige but he hesitated, wanting to make sure.

She reached her hands up to him. That was all the encouragement he needed.

He pulled off her panties and tossed them to the floor and joined her in the bed.

He began kissing her mouth, his naked body pressing against hers. She was hot and moving against him, her touching him making him starved for her. Their lips caressed and pressed, her hands running over his bare back and settling on his arse. He groaned with the need to take this all the way.

Then he moved her with her back to him so he could ply her feminine core with his strokes. Hooking her heel over his leg, he began running his fingers over her slick clit, her body thrumming with desire, her wetness telling him she was ready for his penetration, if they were going for a mating.

She was pressing her buttocks against his rigid cock, making him desperate to bring her to climax.

He leaned down to kiss her naked neck, and she angled her body so she could capture his mouth in another sizzling kiss. Tongues teased each other and then she sucked on his tongue, making his cock jerk against her buttocks. Vixen.

Dipping his finger into her wet sheath, he stroked her clit faster, his mouth still fused with hers, and this time he managed to suck on her tongue. She cast him a wicked smile, her eyes heavy-lidded, filled with lust.

He kissed her again, enjoying the feel of her soft, moist lips pressing against his, and then she arched her back against his body. He knew she was ready to come, and he kept stroking, harder now, coaxing the climax out of her.

He was enthralled with her and already thinking of where this could lead. A mating, if everything worked out, and the she-wolf who had always captured his imagination would be his very own wolf for all time.

But he also kissed her deeply as she let out a muffled cry. He didn’t want everyone in the castle to hear her cry of exultation, though the stone walls were thick so they helped to soundproof the rooms, and the solid oak doors did too. But with their wolf hearing…he didn’t want her to feel embarrassed.

She relaxed in his arms for a minute, her smile telling him she was well pleased with the way she was feeling. And he was glad about that. Then she rolled over and began to stroke his full-blown cock, while kissing his chest. She switched her attention to licking his nipples, and red-hot need shot straight to his cock. He kissed the top of her head, and she moved up to kiss his mouth again, her hand firm on his arousal, giving him just the right amount of pressure and speed, and he groaned with the action.

If he’d had any doubts about them going this far, they had flown out the castle window.

She moved her sweet mouth to one of his nipples again, and that time she suckled, and he came in a volcanic explosion. He’d known he was near the end, but man, that pushed him right over.

She continued to milk him to the end, his hand stroking her back, feeling hotly satiated. He hoped she wouldn’t want to leave him tonight, though he would understand if she wanted to keep up appearances, should anyone know what they were up to. But he wanted to hold her close all night long.

“Be right back,” he said, leaving the bed to take a shower. He kissed her real quick, then headed into the bathroom. But she needed to clean up, too, he figured, and she soon joined him.

Hell, this was one damn great way to shower, he thought, as he soaped her all up and she reciprocated.

Ohmigod, Enrick was such a keeper! Heather wasn’t sure if this was a one-shot deal, staying with him like this for now in his chamber, or if he wanted to do this for longer on a sort of trial basis. But she was sure ready to do it every night, as long as things worked out between them. She hoped not too many in their packs would learn about it and that any who did wouldn’t share with the rest of his pack and hers. She knew Lana wouldn’t say a word, not wanting to divulge Heather’s secret.

Heather could imagine her brothers giving Enrick fits for not just mating her first. She knew they really liked him as a friend and were eager to have him join the family if Enrick mated her. But she and he had to be sure about this.

Right now, she was in heaven, still feeling the heat wafting through
her, the tingle of climax still making her feel special and wanted and beautiful. She had imagined how this would be between them, but never like this. Never this real, or hot, or exquisite. And the shower? That extended the pleasure all over again.

He turned off the shower and then they were out of it, drying their hair, her concentration on him drying the rest of his beautifully toned body. He smiled to see her interest. She kissed his chest and hurried back to the bed and climbed under the quilts, ready to dream about one sexy Highland wolf. Minus his kilt.

“I’m glad you’re still here.” Enrick set his towel aside and climbed under the covers with her.

He pulled her against his body, and she was glad, though she didn’t expect to be wrapped up in his arms all night long. This was a nice way to end the lovely time she’d had with Enrick today.

He was stroking her arm when she said, “I’ll need to leave early in the morning.”

He glanced down at her, a smile playing on his lips.

“Not to hide what we’re doing, for heaven’s sake, or I would leave now.”

He tightened his hold on her almost imperceptibly, but she loved how he was showing he didn’t want her to go.

“I didn’t think to bring a change of clothes.”

“Ah,” he said, and kissed the top of her head. “We will wake early, then, and you can change in your bedroom. Then what? Do you want to meet me in the great hall for breakfast, or I can pick you up at your chamber?”

She wanted to tell him to pick her up from her chamber—they were courting, after all. But she didn’t want him to feel like he had to be with her every second of the day when they were free.

“I’ll meet you downstairs so you don’t have to wait for me.”

  He smiled again.

“Not to let on that we had been together.”

  His smile broadened. The rogue.

She closed her eyes. “It would just take you out of your way, and you might as well save a seat for me in the great hall.”

  “Aye, I will do that.”

  Chapter 13

Even if Heather didn’t want to sound like she was trying to cover up that they had been together in his chamber all night, Enrick was sure she was feeling a little self-conscious. It was understandable because they didn’t have the privacy they might have if they weren’t living in a castle with a pack of wolves.

Everyone was interested in learning if a wolf couple would end up mating. It kept the circle of life going for the lupus garous.

He would have liked to escort her to the great hall, to prove to everyone they were “together.” But he understood her reasoning and that was fine with him too.

What he hadn’t expected was to wake this morning, still cuddling Heather and find the light was streaming in through a separation of the curtains hanging over the window. Och, they were late!

He didn’t want to alarm Heather, but he needed to make sure security was in place and they hadn’t had any more breaches into their domain. He didn’t think Heather had anything to do for the film shoot this morning, at least that he could recall. But they were so late, they’d even missed breakfast!

They would have to rush down and try to grab something to eat.

“Hey, sleepyhead,” he said, kissing her forehead.

She slowly opened her eyes and smiled up at him. That was enough of a reward to get him through whatever missions he had to do for the day.

Then she frowned and looked in the direction of the window. Her hand shoved at his chest as she tried to scramble out of bed. He stifled the urge to laugh because he was in as much of a rush to get out of bed and dress as she was, once she was out of his arms and began throwing on her clothes.

“You should have woken me.” She frowned at him as she jerked her wool shirt over her head, dispensing with her bra, and shoved her legs into her jeans, not putting on her panties.

“I just woke up myself, lass.” He was pulling on his long shirt, trying to get dressed as fast as she was.

“Sorry, I just planned to have a lot more time than this.” She grabbed the hair clip she’d had in her hair last night and hurried to pull her hair back.

“I’ll get us some breakfast while you’re changing in your—”

She raced out of his chamber, barefooted and with socks, bra, and panties shoved in her boots as she made a beeline for her chamber down the hallway.

He smiled and shut the door, then finished dressing. He thought of texting Maynard and seeing if he could whip them up a breakfast, but he knew the kitchen manager never fed anyone between meals. Unless it was Colleen. Not even Ian could change the crusty old Highlander’s mind at times. When the kitchen was closed, it was closed. If someone had to eat, they could make a meal for themselves, but they had to clean up after themselves too. Maynard had his reasons. Clansmen and women would traipse through there all day, if they had their way.

Enrick headed out of his room and strode down the stairs, intent on reaching the kitchen and making a meal, despite figuring he could have a fight on his hands with Maynard if he was still there.

To his surprise, Maynard was busy making breakfast. Maybe for himself? Maynard frowned at Enrick. “I probably shouldn’t say anything, but…”

“Then don’t,” Enrick said, heading for one of the fridges.

“Don’t bother. I’m making breakfast for the two of you. Next time, get up a wee bit earlier.”

Enrick smiled at the old cuss. “I owe you.”

  “Aye, that you do.”

Enrick knew Maynard had been frustrated with Heather and her pie shop and then taking over the kitchens for the film, so he was surprised the old wolf would do something so nice for her.

  “How did you—”

“Know? Heather texted me saying if you didn’t get breakfast you would faint during a battle scene, if you had to fight one today.”

Enrick knew that had to amuse the wolf. He smiled. “She said that, did she?”

“And I knew she would wilt if she didn’t have a good hearty breakfast to carry her through lunch. What were you thinking?” Maynard scrambled the eggs.

“We had a long run last night as wolves and—”

“Och, you were together last night.” Maynard waved his spatula at Enrick. “Don’t you go upsetting the lass after all she’s been through over Timothy.”

Enrick hadn’t intended to, but if they decided they weren’t meant to be together, he knew he would end up hurting her no matter how much he didn’t want to.

“Her brothers were in here asking about her. And about you. Wondering why they didn’t see the two of you at breakfast. They were afraid the two of you had a spat.”

“Well, we didn’t.” Enrick poured some coffee for himself.

“I know that. They shoulda figured where this was headed.”

  “It’s not—”

“Aye, I know that, or the lass would have mentioned it to me.”

Now that surprised Enrick. He hadn’t thought she and Maynard were getting along that well. Maybe things had changed between them when Maynard had been able to make the food for the scene in the new kitchen after the woman had sabotaged the food in the old one.

“She knows her stuff,” Maynard said, motioning to the kitchen. “And, out of the goodness of her heart, she shared a couple of her recipes that she uses to make her own meat pies, because they’re so popular at her shop. I’m not undercutting her business, mind you. But I’m making them for myself and Colleen, for Ian also if he wants.”

“And me?” Enrick asked, hearing footfalls hurrying in the direction of the kitchen. Heather’s light footsteps, he imagined.

“Not you. You buy them at her shop. Keep her in business.” Maynard served up the eggs, haddock, toast, and bowls of oatmeal. He smiled like a chipper young wolf when Heather walked into the kitchen looking flustered. “Morning, las
s. Sit yourself down and enjoy your breakfast.” Then he set the food out on the kitchen table the staff used, or family used if they could sneak into the kitchen and grab a bite when Maynard wasn’t around.

“Oh, thank you.” Heather gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “You are my hero.”

Maynard chuckled and raised a brow at Enrick.

He wanted to shake his head at Maynard, but instead he kissed Heather briefly because she didn’t appear to be in the mood for anything more. She was in too much of a hurry.

“Later,” Maynard said, and discreetly left the kitchen.

“Wasn’t it lovely of Maynard to do this for us?” Heather asked.

“It sure was.” Enrick wasn’t about to mention how shocked he was at this turn of events.

“We can’t do this anymore,” she said, waving her buttered toast at him, and then hurried to coat it with strawberry jam.

“I’ll set an alarm clock.” Enrick wanted her in his bed with him at night. They’d finally come this far, and he didn’t want to take a step back.

“Nay. We can’t let this happen again. Maynard was being kindhearted to make us a special breakfast just because we couldn’t drag ourselves out of bed this morning.”

“We can set our phone alarms too.” Enrick would do anything to keep up the status quo, for now.

She finished her tea. “It would have been bad enough if we’d been on time and our clansmen would be speculating what had gone on. But this? It’s a catastrophe.”

Enrick fought smiling because he knew she was upset about it, but to him, this was a natural order of things to come. It was inevitable after all they’d done yesterday and then last night that they would be so exhausted this morning that they accidentally slept in.

“You were supposed to be in charge of security.” She finished off her eggs.

“Aye, and I have people in place to take care of things. As soon as we’re done, I’ll check on it.”

“You are always so…” She paused, searching for a word.
