“You ready?” Damien called out softly.
Spinning around to look at him, a beaming grin crossed his face. The snow that was falling, gently landing on his head and shoulders. “You look beautiful Aine.” He muttered, taking a step forward and offering me his hand.
A clean, pressed tuxedo complimented his figure, and his hair combed back. The nicest I had ever seen him look. Different from the rugged look I had grown to love.
“I’m ready.” I muttered, giggling a little at how formal he was acting, taking his offered hand.
Starting to walk back to the car, Damien stood still, causing me to jerk backward. Looking at him from behind my shoulder, he gave me a serious look.
“There is one last gift I’d like to give you. Before we go.” He muttered softly.
Curiously, I turned around to face him, tilting my head. “Ok?” I asked hesitantly.
Taking a few steps closer to me, Damien smiled, placing his hand on the side of my face.
“Aine. You are the most incredible woman to have ever lived. Your bravery and strength knows no bounds. You fight with the heart of a warrior, and you love with a passion that cannot be compared. There is no other woman in this world that I would rather call my daughter, and no one better for my son than you. You deserve a fresh start.”
I smiled sheepishly, lowering my eyes to the ground. Glimpsing the lace fabric that pooled around my feet. Matching the pure color of the snow that covered the ground.
“If anything good could come from what I am, and what I can do, this would be it.” He muttered.
Suddenly my entire body burned. A scorching fire from within that was both painful but also peaceful. Damien continued to look at me with pride, his eyes lighting up as the heat under my skin grew, until finally it stopped.
Dropping his hand, he smiled at me in a way I couldn’t quite understand.
“So, this is the real you?” He muttered under his breath.

Nervously I fixed my tie, standing there in front of what was left of my pack. Patiently waiting. I cleared my throat as the music played and the sight of Aine, being escorted by my father, coming up the aisle.
There had been nothing that I was surer of until now.
With a wide grin, I watched as my father kissed Aine on the cheek and lowered her veil again. Handing her over to me. Proudly, I offered her my arm, and lead her up to the front where the officiant stood.
A warm feeling filled me, realizing what I was about to do. Then, by the instruction of the officiant, I grabbed the hem of her veil and lifted it from her face, and what I saw, I didn’t expect.
My eyes grew wide as I took in the face of my mate, my bride. Her skin soft and void of all marks. Her freckles covering her face with a deep peppering, undisturbed on her skin. Her eyes glittering with a deep red color, completely unscathed by scars.
She smiled at me nervously as I looked over her arms and chest. They were all gone. Every mark, every scar except the mark I selfishly placed on her before. Her skin was soft, all the marring gone, like it was never there. Looking back up to her face, I touched it.
For the very first time, I looked upon that beautiful face of hers, and saw it for the beauty it once was. Turning to look at my father who stood by my side, he winked at me.
Closing my eyes for a minute, letting a tear escape, I looked back to her.
“You are radiant.” I muttered softly. “And you are more beautiful than I ever imagined.”
Chewing her lower lip, she peered at me. Her eyes showing no anger, no hatred. No sign of bloodlust, nor fear. She was but a woman. One was who was perfect beyond all, and I was proud to say she was mine.
