MOTY (The Lady Kingpin Series Book 1) Page 22

by J Hoffman

Natalee ran to her phone, but instead of calling the emergency hotline, she called Liz.

“Someone is at my house!” She yelled into the microphone.

  “What?” Liz grumbled.

“Someone just showed up at my house!”

  “For what?”

  “MOTY!” Natalee yelled again

“Oh shit,” Liz gasped. “We just hit a whole ‘nother level, Natty.”

  Acknowledgements

I want to thank those in my life who have taken the time to encourage me through this process. It isn’t easy, dealing with me, and those who do deserve praise.

My husband, George Hoffman IV, has been my sounding board on this journey. Although he isn’t a writer, he has a lot of amazing ideas, suggestions, and quite the eye for detail. He always encourages me to test my boundaries, strive for my goals, and dream big. Even on my worst days, he loves me, and I love him. I always tell him I feel like I’m not doing enough by just being a wife and mother and he always tells me that raising our children to be active members of society is the hardest job in the world, and I’m doing great. I appreciate him for everything he does for me, our family, and to ensure that I get to pursue the only career I’ve ever truly wanted. I love you, sexy hubband man. Thank you for being you.

My six-year-old daughter, Joplin. I know you thought it was going to be all fun and games when I asked you to design the coffee mug for the cover of my book, and I know that it wasn’t. Mommy is picky, demanding, and all-around a nuisance when she wants something done a certain way. I’m glad we did have that time to spend together, and I’m glad that you did agree to help Mommy with such an important part of this process. You did an amazing job, and I am so proud of you. I love you, beautiful.

My mother, Jeanette Rowe. We have our ups and downs, our ins and outs, our laughs and fights, but nothing compares to the fact that this is ultimately because of you. I remember you telling me that you always wanted to be a writer, but that you preferred poetry. If not a writer, you wanted to be a teacher. I can’t bring myself to teach, but writing has been in my soul since I could lift a pencil, and you know that. You taught me that there is always a way to conquer our fears and let our badassery take hold. You might make me crazy, but I love you, and I thank you for constantly harassing me to let you read my book. I probably wouldn’t have finished it if I didn’t want to prove to you that I could do this so badly. Happy Mother’s Day – May 12, 2019

My friends: Ashley, Breann, Bubbles, Corina, Jennifer (and Jennifer’s amazing mother, Deborah), author Perryen Livingston, and the ladies from my group chat: Eva, Leanne, and Samantha. All of you amazing ladies have had such an impact on me finally going through with this. Between whining about how hard it is to write a book, helping me pick names and scenes, and sending you a thousand different pictures for the cover, I thank you for sticking it out. I thank you for letting me slack off for my own mental health, and I thank you for asking me how it’s going when I was slacking off too much. Here it is. Finally.

  About the Author

J Hoffman lives in Colorado with her husband, George. They have been married since 2014 and relocated from Ohio in 2018. Together, they have five children. Four girls, and one boy. They don’t have any pets, but they did hatch a Triop and since growing full size, it’s a little scary looking, but keeps J company while she writes (or stares blankly at the screen). His name is Pom.

There were only three things J wanted to accomplish in her life, and she knew them as a child: become a wife, a mother, and an author. She spent most of her adolescent years visiting her best friend’s aunt and longing for the lifestyle she lives. Said aunt is a best-selling author who frequently travels the world to accept awards and perform book signings. One day, J hopes to do the same.

J loves books, but not as much as she loves food. She loves to cook, bake and try new recipes. Her favorite recipe is roast beef au jus, but she can never cook it because no one else in the house likes it. It’s easier to never make it than it is to convince them to eat it.
