I shook my head. “You know this.”

  “Tell me.”

“Auntie Sarah was named after my Momma.”

  “My Great Grams?”

“Yes, Nikki. Your Great Grams. I never knew her. She died when I was a baby. But see that picture over there? That’s a picture of your Great Grams with your Gigi.”

“I know Gigi.” Nikki nodded seriously.

“Yes, you do. Gigi is my Grams.”

“What happened next?” She was insistent about this story. Needing to hear it to the very end.

“And they lived happily ever after.” Jack’s voice came from the doorway. Nikki giggled and ran to be picked up. Jack picked her up and swung her around. “Princess Nikki, don’t you know this story by heart?”

“Yup, Papa. But Grams tells it so good. It’s my favorite.” Nikki was so serious.

“Did Grams tell you how much I loved her and how I couldn’t wait for her to move home to be with me and your Momma?”

Nikki nodded. “She says all the time how much you love her. Grams says you are her reason for living.”

  Jack smiled. “And she’s mine.”
