Kent: I had a great time last night. If I promise not to be an idiot will you go out with me again? There’s a slam poetry night at the coffee shop on campus this weekend. I’d love for you to come.
A smile spreads across my face and I can’t help giggling a little. He can’t be serious with this poetry stuff. But Kent is just so adorably sweet and geeky in the most endearing way, so maybe he actually does go to poetry nights. Despite everything Zeke said this morning about him not understanding my worth, I can’t help thinking about how nice and refreshingly different he is and my fingers are typing out a reply without thought.
Me: I take promises seriously.
His reply comes through almost immediately.
Kent: Me too. Is that a yes?
Me: Yes.
