Her Alien Protector

Lark didn’t want to spend any more time in his presence. It was bad enough that thoughts of him plagued her while she was making love. She refused to think about the fact that she’d pictured Raynor underneath her at least twice while she was rubbing against Ana. When Ana’s hands ceased massaging her back, Lark rose up to stare down at her.

“Am I too heavy?” She rolled away to lie beside her lover.

“Never.” Ana turned onto her side to stare at her. “I love the way you feel on top of me.”

“Good.” Lark pushed Ana’s curly hair away from her beautiful face. “Because I love being on top of you.”

“Sex with you is always amazing. Today was no exception. However, I can sense you’re troubled. What is bothering you?”

She should’ve known she couldn’t hide her distress from Ana. Succubi not only thrived off sexual energy, they also consumed anger, guilt, fear and any other emotion that could make your heart race. Lark sighed. It was time to share the news of their latest prisoner with Ana.

“We have a new prisoner and it’s not the Uranian we ordered.”

  Ana frowned. “No? Why not?”

“My sister decided we needed something different, something exotic.”

“Exciting, when do I get to train him or her?”

“I’m not sure you’ll want to mess with this one. He’s from the Kuiper Belt.”

She’d expected Ana to grow worried, perhaps even say she wanted nothing to do with a vampire. Her lover did the exact opposite. She sat up quickly and kissed Lark on the forehead.

“Finally, we have a vampire in our harem. It’s about time. I was wondering when one of their kind would be sent this way.”

  “You’re excited. Are you serious?”

“Yes, vampires are wonderful lovers, or so I’ve heard. I’ve never experienced one myself. I can’t wait to begin training this one. What is his name?”

Lark was speechless. Not only was she shocked by Ana’s acceptance of the vampire. She was also shocked by the possessiveness she was suddenly feeling toward… Raynor. She didn’t want Ana to train him. She didn’t want anyone touching her vampire.

  “Lark, what’s wrong?”

Lark blinked. “Huh, nothing, what are you talking about?”

“Your eyes were practically glowing just now. They only do that when you’re extremely angry or extremely aroused. Since you’ve just came, it has to be the former. What have I said to anger you?” Ana tilted her head to the side, her slanted eyes squinting as confusion flickered in their depths.

  “Nothing,” Lark lied.

“You’re a terrible liar, sweetie. Tell me what’s going on.”

Damn, dating a Succubus who could read your emotions was frustrating sometimes. Lark turned onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. “It’s this vampire. His name is Raynor.”

“Raynor, nice name. What has he done to upset you?”

“First of all he’s here. His mere presence is upsetting. And he killed Cochran.”

“What did Cochran do to him?”

“Why do you immediately assume it was Cochran’s fault?”

“Because Cochran is, well was, a malicious bastard. And because vampires may have a bad rep but they rarely harm others without reason, unless they’re hired to do so, or hungry. So, what did your guard do to Raynor?”

“He tried to force himself on him.”

  “And Raynor defended himself?”

  Lark nodded.

“What did you expect him to do?”

“He did the right thing. I know that. It’s just, I don’t know.” Lark closed her eyes.

“Do you want to know what I think?”

“No, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me anyway.”

“Damn right I am. I think you like this vampire.”

Lark’s eyes popped open. “What makes you think that?”

“I can sense your arousal awakening once more. And you’re not growing aroused for me.”

Lark opened her mouth to deny it.

“No,” Ana placed her finger over Lark’s parted lips. “Don’t deny it. I’m not mad. In fact, I think we should see if this vampire would like to have a threesome with the both of us.”

Lark pushed Ana’s hand away and rose from the bed. “Have you lost your mind?” She searched for her clothing.

“What’s wrong with having a threesome with a vampire? Just last month you said you were ready to experience a male.”

“You’re twisting my words around. I said I was ready to conquer all my fears so I can become a better leader of the military.”

“And one of those fears is having sex with a male. Trust me, you’re going to love it. You’re lucky you get to lose your virginity to a vampire. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

There were so many things wrong with what Ana was saying. She never should’ve told her of that particular fear. Naked, Lark walked across the room to the bathroom. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. Damn it, she was blushing. She never blushed.

“Lark, stop ignoring me and answer the question.”

She didn’t have an answer. Though she hadn’t stated that she was ready to lose her virginity, it was past time she did. She was sure her eldest sister had already lost hers. Even shy Lola had dated a male a few months ago. Surely she’d given up the goods.

It was time for Lark to get over this fear of losing her virginity. She was ready to see what it felt like to have a male inside of her. Was it really as horrible as Farah said or was Ana right when she said it was magical?

Lark didn’t know. What she did know was she was never having sex with Raynor. She needed to come up with a logical reason why she couldn’t have a threesome with Ana and the vampire.

One reason was that she didn’t want the vampire inside her body. There was nothing enticing about him. Okay, so that part was a lie. Ana would know she was telling a lie the moment those words left her mouth.

She could say she didn’t want to share Ana with the vampire. But that was a lie also. Both Lark and Ana understood that their relationship wasn’t permanent. One day they would both find mates.

Lark’s mate might even be a male, which meant she really needed to conquer her fear. She could just tell Ana the truth. That she was scared of the way Raynor made her feel. But she didn’t want to admit that to herself.

She definitely wasn’t ready to admit it to Ana. Her lover entered the bathroom, naked. They stared at each other in the mirror. Lovely Ana, what if she grew jealous if Lark began to desire this vampire more than she desired her?

Lark wasn’t willing to lose her best friend over one night with a vampire. A threesome was out of the question. And she didn’t have to give an answer as to why. It was, because it was. And that was that.

“I don’t want him to be my first.”

“You’re scared of him, aren’t you?” Ana asked. “No point in lying. I sense your fear.”

Defeated, Lark nodded. She was afraid of him. He was a killer. She had a planet to protect. Any Venusian in their right mind would be afraid of Raynor.

“I also sense that you want him.”

Again Lark nodded. There was no point in trying to hide her feelings from Ana.

“To feel fear and desire is normal. We all feel fear. We all feel desire. You have to learn to control both. Never let your fears consume you, likewise, never let desires of the flesh make you do things you know you shouldn’t. Tonight I will be training the new concubines. This Raynor is a new concubine. Bring him to the harem. Watch how he interacts with others. You may be surprised to learn that vampires aren’t as vicious as you think.”

  “He hasn’t been enhanced yet.”

Ana laughed. “He probably doesn’t need to be. His fangs can bring you to an orgasm by themselves. Unenhanced, he will still be the most requested concubine in the harem.”

There was that flicker of anger again. The thought of others enjoying him, waning after waning was depressing. She needed to control her emotio
ns. These feelings she had for Raynor were illogical and unwanted. Again, she attempted to push them aside.

“He has to be enhanced. All of the concubines have to. It’s our policy,” Lark reminded Ana. “But, I will bring him to the harem tonight. I will let him watch you train the concubines from one of the Seclusion Rooms. He will observe how much pleasure the enhanced prisoners can provide. Hopefully that will make him understand how important the enhancements are.”

Ana nodded. “As you wish. I’m sure together we can convince him to let Lola enhance him.”

  “No threesome,” Lark reminded her.

“No threesome, just observation.” Ana winked at her. “Join me in the shower love. Let me pleasure you. We don’t want you aroused and horny while you’re trapped in the Seclusion Room with a sexy vampire. There’s no telling where you may let him stick those pointy fangs.” Ana laughed.

  “This isn’t funny.”

“I’m serious. Vampires can smell your arousal. It makes them thirsty. If he smells you like this he’ll want to fuck you just as much as I do.”

Well damn. She definitely didn’t want Raynor to know she desired him. How embarrassing that would be.

“Come.” Ana held her hand out. “Let me lick that sweet body until you come all over my tongue. When I’m done with you, you’ll be too weak to think of sexing that vampire.”

Lark took Ana’s hand and let her lead her into the shower. They made love as water flowed over their naked bodies. Afterwards they lay side by side on Lark’s large bed and talked of how they would convince Raynor to let them enhance him.

As they talked, Lark felt herself growing aroused once more. How was she going to make it through tonight if the mere thought of Raynor made her flesh weep? Maybe another round with Ana would do the trick.

It had to, because Lark didn’t know what else to do.

Sleeping with Raynor was not an option.

So why did she suddenly feel guilty for sleeping with Ana?

  Chapter Five

  The Interrogation Room

Raynor Batiste was close to his breaking point.

He could smell her. Her scent made his fangs protrude from his gums. Her aroma wasn’t the only smell permeating the air. She was with someone. Their scents were mingling, which could only mean one thing.

  Lark was having sex.

A low growl built up in his chest. He held it in, refusing to give in to the darkness inside of him. If he went down that road, he would destroy this whole building, thus causing Lark to dislike him more than she already did.

Raynor took a deep breath, reigning in his anger. He could feel the darkness rising, could see its shadow hovering over him, trying to pull away, to be free. Not today beast. Another few deep breaths calmed him down somewhat and he was able to force the darkness back into its resting spot.

He would not show Lark the evil that lurked beneath the façade. Before coming here, he’d known winning her over wouldn’t be easy. Her sister had mentioned Lark’s female lover.

According to her sister, the pair weren’t in love, they were just experimenting, whatever the hell that meant. Still, knowing she was with anyone other than him was upsetting.

It was taking all his strength and will power to sit still and not tear this world apart to claim Lark. She belonged to him. She just didn’t know it yet. She was the only reason he was on this hot as Hades planet. Lark was his mate.

  Lark was his mate.

The darkness quieted somewhat. That knowledge was still new to them. It still blew his mind. He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that he had a life partner, a life partner who was sexy as hell and feisty.

After existing for over five hundred years, traveling to hundreds of worlds and still finding no one who was compatible with him, he’d come to believe he would never have a partner, someone to share eternity with, someone to share his beast with.

He’d started to believe he was too damaged to deserve a mate, too screwed in the head to take care of someone. With the reckless way he lived, perhaps fate thought him too treacherous for a better half.

Every decade the darkness grew stronger, more violent, wanting to be shared. Then it happened. He caught her scent and his whole world changed. How had one such as him gotten so lucky? His Lark was perfect.

Her red and white uniform clung to all the right places on her form. Even in his wildest imaginings, he hadn’t been able to conjure up a mate as lovely or as fierce as Lark Valdese.

  And she was a warrior.

It was evident from the way she moved and the way she talked. On his way here, he’d been plagued with fears that his mate would be spoiled and selfish because of all the luxuries her planet had to offer.

Though he would’ve accepted his fate, he wouldn’t have been happy to have a weak mate. The curse he carried within would’ve lashed out at her, breaking her mind and spirit. No, the weak weren’t meant to mate with his kind. The curse kept that from happening.

And to think, he never would’ve found her if her sister’s spaceship hadn’t crashed on his planet a few moonrises ago. The sisters carried a similar scent. Yet, he’d known Luna wasn’t his. Her scent was enticing, but he didn’t crave it. Yet, the necklace she wore held the scent he craved.

The necklace was silver and held a crescent moon that encased a circular image of their galaxy. As he’d pretended to help Luna’s shady looking pilot repair her ship, he asked the ruler of Venus questions about her special piece of jewelry: where had she gotten it from? How did she know the female she’d gotten it from?

Too trusting for her own good, Luna had told him the necklace belonged to one of her sisters. Apparently so did the bracelet she wore. She confessed to stealing items that belonged to them every time she left her home world.

It was her way of feeling connected to her family, even when they were apart. She swore she always returned the missing pieces when she arrived back on her planet. Raynor had told her he found her theft admirable. He’d also asked her what her sister’s name was and Luna had responded without hesitating: Lark.

  Lark.

Hearing her name had filled him with a warmth he’d never felt before. Raynor vowed then and there that he would find this Lark and claim her for his own, even though Luna told him Lark would rather have him dead than in her bed.

Apparently Lark didn’t trust males, and definitely wouldn’t trust a male vampire. An incident in his mate’s past had made her leery toward the opposite sex. Luna wouldn’t share the details of the event, but she’d told him it would take charm and a lot of luck for him to win over her sister.

  Raynor had neither.

He’d never been charming, though he was trying to smile more in Lark’s presence and so far he’d only killed one being. That was an improvement. As for luck, luck had never been associated with his kind. They were the unlucky ones, the cursed, the darkness other worlds feared.

To some, they were monsters who beget more monsters. Sighing, Raynor reached into his pocket and retrieved the necklace. Bringing it to his nose, he inhaled. His mate. The necklace still smelled of her. He wanted to see her again, wanted her with him, now.

All of this waiting and pretending he was here to be part of a harem, was driving him mad. He wasn’t accustomed to sitting idly. He definitely wasn’t accustomed to being locked up. If he could handle things his way, he would break these irritating handcuffs and seek out the female who belonged to him.

He would snatch her away from her lover, steal the first spaceship he found and return with her to his home planet, Qoaran. The only thing keeping him from doing that was the vow he’d made to her sister. A vampire’s vow was sacred.

Raynor promised to live here and accept Lark as she was, which meant he had to spend his eternity on this hot ass planet. There was no other option. According to Luna, Venusians couldn’t survive without the sun.

On Qoaran, there was no sun, only coldness and a darkness that could be felt all the way to the bone. Raynor loved it
. But Lark wouldn’t survive one moonrise there even with the darkness shared between them. Therefore he had to live here.

Once he had Lark in his arms, he was sure he would be able to get over how hot it was here. Now he had to figure out how to get Lark with him. She wanted to enhance him. He was content with having one cock between his legs.

He didn’t need another one. But he would pretend to go along with this enhancement idea, if it would lead to him spending more time in her presence. Time together was the only way to establish the mating bond.

No matter how hard she fought it, she wouldn’t be able to resist him. He belonged to her. Her body would be drawn to his, the same way he was drawn to her. This union was something he’d dreamed of since puberty. For vampires, mating was revered.

They saved themselves for the one who was made for them, wanting to belong to that being only, mind, heart and body. It took years of conditioning to get one’s body in line with that plan. However, it was worth it, or so he’d been told.

According to his mated brethren, the wait made them appreciate their life partner more. It was said that once a vampire found his mate, he became stronger. This extra strength was the Cosmos’ gift to them so they could protect their mate.

Raynor was already strong, and didn’t feel stronger. Perhaps it was because he had yet to claim Lark. However, he did feel appreciative. That part of the legend was true. He’d been waiting for this female for centuries. He appreciated every hair on her head.

He appreciated the way her eyes glowed red. He appreciated the way her uniform fit her. He appreciated the fact that she wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind. He appreciated how luscious her lips looked, especially after she licked them.

He would show her how much he appreciated her the next time they were alone. Raynor shifted in his seat. With her, he would be able to explore the desires he’d sustained from his whole life. Finally, he would be able to have an orgasm.
