He waved while flashing a million-dollar smile with a set of perfectly straight teeth in my direction. How did I never notice those before? As we parted ways I jogged the rest of the way to my house."Don't even think about it Rayne" Wynters internal dialogue made me blush. "I'm not, Jesus!" I huffed. "You don't want Eric #2..." She said with an exasperated sigh. "Ugh, don't remind me Wynter, I was there." I said, a sadness in my voice as I recalled Mr. Kane licking the blood off his fangs with a shudder. "You think I wasn't? I just don't want it to happen again ok" she said with concern in her words.

Yea, she's probably right I thought, but it's just lunch. No big deal. I arrived at the diner perfectly on time, Roman was already there waiting. We got seated and he ordered some sort of junk food, a big hamburger with fries. I ordered an avocado salad. It's not like we had to worry about what we ate, our wolf genes would devour anything we ate  anyways. We were basically all muscle and even if we didn't work out we still had a muscular build. So I could have eaten a greasy Hamburger, I just wasn't in the mood.

We spent lunch  talking about training, how things were with the pack, Alpha Drake, all kinds of topics. It was nice to just have someone there to talk to. It made me realize how much I missed normal human interaction. Once we were done with lunch we were about to part ways,  "I'll see you tonight at Patrol?" He questioned. “You're patrolling the East quarter?“ I asked. "Yes ma'am, six to midnight!" He chirped. "Oh, then I guess I'll see you there!“ I replied with a wave and we headed our separate ways. That was strange... He knew I would be there, but how would he know? I just barely got put on the extra patrol Duty when I got in trouble??

I usually patrol the west quarter, never the east. Winter was whining in the back of my mind, something wasn't right.. Something was strange about Roman. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I was determined to find out what it was.

  Chapter 14

Training had kicked my ass, I definitely needed a nap before patrol tonight or there was no way I was going to stay awake. I jumped into bed, pulled the covers up over my head and I felt like as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.

I found myself standing in front of what looked like a medieval castle. That would be the only way to explain this extraordinary place. It was massive, sitting on acres and acres of land. The whole thing looked like something out of a horror movie, yet it was intriguing to say the least.

The mansion was solid black with gold accents, There were peaks and pillars all over, with gold gargoyle statues positioned everywhere I looked. The windows that were visible were bigger than I've ever seen in any home, if that's what you could call this exquisite place.

There were Trails past the gate leading in all different directions. I could see that they went into areas of space with flowing greenery and boundless gardens.

I saw a beautiful pond with water the same color of turquoise as the well and stream that littered my childhood. It was a vast maze of incredible stature.

As I stood at the gates of the home trying to take in the scenery, they opened on their own, and my curiosity of course was always getting the best of me, so I decided to walk in.

I couldn't hear Wynter which I thought was really strange, usually she's in my mind trying to stop me from doing dumb shit, but I was too in awe to worry about it.

I walked down the long gravel pathway, resisting the urge to explore outside first. I came upon a set of huge black and gold double doors. I knocked, but no one answered, so I just opened the door and decided to go inside.

It opened up into a giant foyer, there was a spiral staircase in the middle with a huge black and gold crystal chandelier above my head. The sight took my breath away, it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen.

I had three options, I could either go forward up the spiral staircase, to the left into an unknown hallway, or to the right into another unknown hallway. I decided to just go forward and up the spiral staircase.

As I got almost to the top I turned into the most breathtaking view of the city through the enormous window above the front door. The sun was setting, casting an orange and purple glow across the city.

We must have been up high, somewhere up on a peak of some sort above the city. I thought it was strange that I had never been up here before or noticed it. Why wouldn't I have seen a mansion like this sitting on top of a peak that can see the whole city?? When I'm in the city looking up I should have been able to see it was as massive as it was.

I got to the top of the stairs and there was just one single hallway that just went straight forward, for what seemed like forever. As I'm walking down the hallway, I noticed there were doors that branched off to the left, doors that branched off to the right, every so often another door. They were all closed and I resisted the urge to open them trying to stay focused at the task at hand.

But what was the task? My mind seemed cloudy but also clear. At the very end of the hallway there was one set of beautiful giant gold double doors with the word "Raziel" carved towards the top in large black letters spanning the width of both doors.

They looked to me as if they were actually made of real gold and probably heavy. I really wanted to knock but I also just wanted to walk in. I felt like maybe I shouldn't even be here, I felt like something was different, strange, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I wasn't even sure where I was or even how I had gotten here, but I didn't feel like I should be afraid. It was the strangest feeling.

I reached out to Wynter again, forgetting she wasn't there, no response. I felt a twinge of fear but pushed it out of my mind figuring she would be back. I decided I was going to open the double doors and they started to open slowly on their own, as if they had heard my thoughts.

I stepped inside and was met with a room much like the doors, literally Gold Everywhere. If anything wasn't solid gold it was accented gold.

There was a four-poster bed in the middle back of the room that had gold accents all on the posters. The frame, headboard and footboard were solid gold. The sheets were gold silk, the comforter was black with gold accents.

There were two nightstands one on each side black with gold accents which really brought out the black in the comforter. On one of the nightstands there was a gold hand statue resembling what I figured to be the hand of midas. Fitting, I thought with a chuckle.

The rug in front of the bed was black with gold strewn throughout. The curtains around the room were all black with gold swirls, the walls were black and adorned with gold paintings and painted animal skulls, it made a nice accent on the solid black walls, and a part of me wondered if they were actually painted with real gold.

In the right hand corner of the room there was a fireplace and a black velvet victorian style chaise lounge with gold accents and a gold blanket draped over the back.

There was a fire going in the fireplace burning golden flames? I wasn't sure how that was possible but it did match the room.

There was a gold pool table with black accents on the opposite side of the room, gold and black pool sticks hung on the wall behind it neatly. To the side of the pool sticks was a full bar stocked with everything you could ever want. Of course it was gold and black just like everything else in the room.

I noticed a decanter full of some sort of gold liquid, I'm assuming alcohol but I don't know what would be that color? Four cups were neatly surrounding it atop an octagon mirror.

Everything in this room was perfect, it all seemed to have a place, nothing seemed out of place and it was the most enchanting sight I had ever seen. I was so in awe of the beauty of this room I did not want to leave. I wanted to go touch everything but knowing how curiosity gets me in trouble I refrained. Instead I committed this room to memory, every single inch of it.

Then the strangest thing happened. I felt something familiar, like I was being surrounded by liquid gold... I turned my head and locked eyes with the beautiful, dangerous, Mr Kane.

I gasped as I saw his molten gold eyes. "Mr. Kane!" I exhaled a mixture of excitem
ent and fear rushing through me.

  Chapter 15

  (Mr. Kane)

Anthony brought me a whole stack of books, everything that he could find, every piece of literature known to the underworld about dream walking. I had spent hours pouring over every book, committing everything I read to memory. I didn't want to miss a single thing.

There had to be a way I could help Rayne. I was so exhausted after the day I had and all of this reading, I hadn't even realized that I had fallen into a deep sleep.

The next thing I know I'm dream walking, nothing new to a Reaver though, no big deal. I'm dreamwalking my own dream, I'm in my room where I had originally fallen asleep, when I heard a noise. How could there be something unexpected here? I control my own dreams...

I wanted to let it play out so I hid just behind the drapes as Rayne walked into my room. I was so surprised to see her, my heart skipped a beat or maybe two and Nero started going crazy at the aspect of her in our bedroom. Even if it was a dream bedroom, still.

She was wearing a cut off Hoodie that was black with a pair of black yoga pants and combat boots that we're not all the way zipped up. Her hair, pin straight like normal, fell down to her sides. Even in this state she was breathtakingly beautiful.

I watched as her face lit up when she took in the site. I would definitely think it's safe to say that I prefer gold and she was right though when she had said she thought everything was made of pure gold, because it was, all the way down to the stitching in the rug.

Even though I knew that this was just a dream I couldn't help but revel in the fact that she was this near. What she didn't know though is that when you dream walk you are actually there. Your spirit leaves your body in a physical form to dreamwalk and her physical form was standing here now.

If you want to dreamwalk you have to concentrate on the person who's dream you want to infiltrate, that creates a sort of link between the two of you and your physical form can use that link to find the dream. It's something you must practice and is difficult to master.

How she found my dream without even knowing she found it, is something I would like to know. I couldn't help but smile when I realized she had to have been thinking of me when she fell asleep, and I loved that thought.

I decided it was now or never so I reluctantly stepped out from behind the drapes and materialized right next to her. She heard me, turned her head, and we locked eyes.

"Mr. Kane'' she said with a tone of extreme surprise. I took a moment to take in her expression and searched her beautiful platinum eyes for any signs of fear. What I saw instead was overwhelming excitement. Might be selfish of me, but I couldn't wake her yet. I fully planned on taking full advantage of the time I had with her while she wasn't feeling her usual emotions regarding me.

“Mr. K-'' I put my finger to her lips," You may call me Raziel" I purred. "Raziel'' she purred back, hearing her say my first name ignited a fire that ravaged my entire being. I had to fight Nero and resist the urge to take her here and now. I pushed him from my mind and focused all my attention back to her.

"Is this your room? Is this your house?" She asked in awe. "Yes darling, this is my home." I stated. "Is it to your liking?" I questioned, never caring what anyone thought before, but hoping she would say yes.

"It's incredible, and it's so... You. With the gold and all." she smiled as she said that last part. I realized that I did always wear something gold, she must have noticed. "It is, how would you say? My color after all." I smirked.

Suddenly I felt her hand touching my arm, it sent sparks of lightning through my body re-igniting the fire she had instilled just moments prior.

I turned to face her and I could see she had a dreamy sort of look in her eyes. It was different than her usual hardened protective glare. Her hand moved up my arm and into my chest, she was tracing my muscles with her fingers sending small shocks of pleasure to my core.

I was fighting to keep Nero under control at her every advance. I hadn't even realized I wasn't wearing a shirt... Wait, why wasn't I wearing a shirt? I know I had one on? It wasn't until we suddenly materialized onto the bed, her straddling me that I realized she was manipulating my dream!

She took my shirt off, she put us on the bed and while I loved where this was going I couldn't rightfully allow it to continue knowing she wasn't aware it wasn't truly real.

I sat up with her still on my lap, cupped her face with my hands and looked deep into her eyes. I was looking for any sign of her not wanting this, or fighting it. There was none, just a hunger that I had never seen. I pressed my lips gently against hers, she reciprocated my kiss. I lingered, taking in every agonizingly pleasurable second.

Her lips tasted like coconut and candy. I never wanted to leave her embrace. ”Rayne, wake up." I whispered against her lips, sending Nero and I straight into withdrawal.

I knew she was awake when she disappeared from my arms. I sat there for a moment, remembering how her lips felt against mine and internally kicking myself. I knew it was time though, she had to wake up.

I was secretly hoping that maybe she would start to change the way she thinks and feels for me if we could have more meetings like this, and for the first time I thought maybe her dream walking wasn't so bad.

  Chapter 16

  (Rayne)

I woke up suddenly before my alarm, sitting up confused about my recent dream. It had felt so real, I touched my lips as the feeling of his kiss was lingering. Wynter had dreamt with me as well, while she wasn't there in my dream for some reason she remembers it all.

She was howling about Mr. K- Raziel. Was that really his name? It was a beautiful name, it rolled off my lips so effortlessly. Something had me hoping it was his name. I fought the urge to mind link him and ask, he told me if I needed him he would be there. Asking his name is hardly a need, I decided I wouldn't bother him just in case.

In any normal situation the thought of him would have sent a spike of fear through my chest. But for some reason I found myself almost missing him, I blamed the dream.

Wynters approval was prevalent in her howls. “Maybe we should get to know him?“ Wynter stated with a pout. That thought made me nervous and excited. Maybe, I thought, as I got ready and headed off to patrol.

Patrol was slow, like always. We watch the grounds, and make sure there aren't any threats. There usually aren't, no other pack dares go against Alpha Drake due to his reputation.

He wouldn't hesitate for a second to kill another alpha and absorb his entire pack, or just slaughter them all. Due to that we have a lot of free time on patrol. It's nice when we patrol because I can let Wynter loose.

Our wolves love to have free reign once in a while, they are cooped up in our heads inside 90 percent of the time anyways. We communicate through our mind link in our wolf form. Tonight it was Roman and I, patrolling the east quarter.

Roman's wolf was bigger than mine, dark brown long fur and scruffy. My wolf was more petite, platinum silver fur a medium length, and my fur shimmered in the sun. At least my moms did, if my fur was anything like hers then mine does too.

I got a lot of attributes from my mom, including her platinum silver eyes. But where my platinum hair came from I couldn't tell you, my mom was blonde. "Did you hear that Alpha Drake plans to make a trip to The Edge this weekend?" Roman said through our mind link.

I hadn't heard but if that is his plan then you know it's going to be packed. "Are you going?“ I asked Roman, "Damn straight I am, we never get to go, so you can bet your sweet ass that I'll be there. What about you?“ He questioned back. "I'll think about it," I replied.

Truth is, I really wanted to go since I had never been, this was the first time since I turned 19 that Alpha Drake was actually going. It was the first time I had the chance to go without disobeying my Alpha.

My dream popped back into my Mind. Ugh, Alpha Drake was insufferable to say the least. I had felt lucky that he had left me alone the last little while, but I know he was gone on business too so that's probably the o
nly reason he hasn't tormented me. It would be easy to keep my distance I'm sure.

I was still deciding but Wynter was already going over outfits for us so she had her mind made up.

After patrol I normally would have gone to bed but since I napped earlier I was wide awake. My mind was racing between going to The Edge and thinking about Raziel or whatever his name was.
