The Reaver Chronicles: Raziel
Page 21
“Together, we would be fucking unstoppable!” He roared. This sexual attraction was really getting on my nerves, I just wanted to fuck him and then kill him. The darkness was really messing with my emotions, I could tell he was feeling the same.
The rage had built up so damn far that I couldn't even control myself, and I threw a black fireball instantly at Raphaels chest. He materialized out of the way and retaliated with the same attack. I materialized from the path of the fireball as well.
From the corner of my eye I saw Roman, Raziel and Alpha Drake scatter to a different side of the arena, knowing that they were no match for us consumed in the darkness.
I raised my hand up and created a thunderstorm much like the one I had created previously. It seemed my darkness loved to make the playing field challenging. Rain started pouring from the sky as if it were being poured from buckets, while lightning and thunder crashed around us. I of course wasn’t getting wet at all, magic and all.
Raphael wasn’t so lucky, he was drenched and for some reason the sight of him with water rolling off his form in waves seemed to make him more attractive to me, which in turn pissed me off, angering my mark, and feeding the darkness.
It was as if 2 gods were battling. The sound of our attacks clashing with the thunder caused all the wolves from the pack to come running to the arena to watch. We were all over the arena throwing fireballs and using magic to block and materialize out of the way.
We took our battle to the ground, I snapped and produced a staff with a black obsidian orb with black flames rising from it. The same staff I saw in my vision, then pointed the staff at the ground and raised an army of the dead.
About 20 demons writhing in darkness emerged, and I could see the look of horror on Raphael’s face. I had been playing with the darkness longer than he had, that was apparent.
Each Demon headed Raphaels way. Some throwing black fireballs, some shooting black fire from their mouths, others with staves that resembled mine throwing various magic spells towards him. He was throwing fireballs and using magic against them, taking them out one by one.
Everytime about half of my army would die, I would just point my staff and raise another army to replace them doubling my army numbers every time. The demons sauntered towards him in a mess of thunder and pouring rain with only lightning as their guide.
They were surrounding him, overwhelming him. I could hear Raziel yelling for us to stop, I know this is his brother and he still cares about him but this was not his fight. Suddenly Raphael threw his hands down and out to the sides, causing an extreme burst of energy to ripple through the arena, destroying my entire undead army and blasting demon remnants all over hell.
I, of course, used my hand to create a shield to block any of that shit getting on me. No way I was about to ruin this perfect outfit. If the darkness taught me anything, it’s always be confident and presentable.
What better time than now? I thought about just creating another army, but what's the fun in letting them fight my battles? I snapped my fingers and materialized a gold set of double bladed fans. These were my go to weapon, I had practiced extensively in training with similar fans and I was very comfortable with them.
“Rayne, why don’t we quit the silly games.. Join me my queen” Raphael purred and he held his hand out to me. The darkness wanted me to take his hand, it was pushing me to and I wanted to as well which in turn pissed me off more, but this was my chance.
I grabbed his hand making him think I was conceding to him, but instead used it to steady myself, and with my other hand I flung my fans open and sliced right through his chest and abdomen. He fell to the ground in a crumpled mess before the darkness healed the wounds and he got back up to his feet.
The darkness was not happy at my disobeying their wants, but I didn't care.
I was here for one thing, and that was to make Raphael fucking pay for what he did.
Chapter 56
He didn’t even really have his bearings back before I threw both fans at him, hoping to connect with flesh once again. He materialized out of the way but only a second too late as one of my fans sliced into his calf muscle, then like a boomerang flung right back into my hands.
The darkness healed him instantly once more. Suddenly to my surprise Raphael made a closed fist and flung my fans straight out of my hands and to him. He then hit them with a black fireball in mid air, shattering them where he stood, sending blades and pieces of gold flying through the air.
Now he was upping his game, it’s about time, I thought as I slammed my hand downwards and produced a black bull whip that was covered in black flames. I flung the whip at Raphael wrapping the end around his throat and yanking him down into the ground.
I freed my whip from his neck with a hard jerk and went to hit him with another round but he rolled out of the way just as my whip smashed the ground where his head once was, sending dirt and grass flying.
I spun the whip around my head like a lasso and sent it reeling forward into his torso, but he materialized back a foot and I missed. I sent the whip hurtling at him one more time and this time he grabbed it mid-air and yanked it towards him, hard.
The force sent me hurtling straight into his arms just as a huge clap of thunder crashed in the sky around us, followed by lightning that lit up the whole arena and we were the centerpiece.
The darkness was reeling at the fact that we were in such close proximity. As much as I fought, I couldn’t seem to get out of his grasp. It was like the darkness was a magnet, binding us together once we touched. Raphael was still soaking wet, and the rain hadn’t let up which made him even that much more appealing.
Raphael used his finger to trace the Gold crescent moon mark on my face, shooting pleasure and a severe burning sensation through my body. It was as if the darkness could override the mark, he then flung his wrist and closed his palm and Raziel’s mark on my face completely shattered, removing itself in shards of gold fury.
He then brushed my lips with his thumb sending a fury of pleasure coursing through my body thanks to the darkness. “My god, I just want to take you right here, right now” Raphael purred into my ear, sending chills down my spine. I wanted to give in, say yes, let him have his way.
Without my mark, I was vulnerable, and I knew it. I had to get away, darkness or not. As much as I wanted to be right exactly where I was, with Raphael, in the darkness, a bigger part of me wanted to get the fuck away from him.
The anger and resentment I was holding was still very much there, and as much as the darkness’s pull was trying to push us together, I knew deep down that wasn’t real. It was just the darkness, toying with me.
I reached my hand out, summoning my flaming staff I had discarded earlier in place of my fans. It came flying from the arena floor and into my hand. I hit it into the ground as hard as I could and it sent a shockwave that sent Raphael flying back and everyone else in the area stumbling to keep their feet on the ground.
It sounded like a plane crashed into the arena, the boom was so loud. Raphael regained his composure, “Rayne, join me or I will start killing those you love!” Raphael spat. He was definitely getting pissed, and tired of the games.
It was clear we weren’t going anywhere, neither of us could overpower the other no matter what tricks we used. The darkness was just too powerful, there would be no winner here.
“You wouldn’t fucking dare” I spat back. Hoping that he was bluffing, well he wasn’t. He rose into the sky and immediately turned to Alpha Drake, Raziel and Roman, and released double black fireballs that seemed bigger than the others he had been using to begin with. I had no time to even think about it, Alpha Drake and Raziel dove out of the way, but Roman wasn’t an experienced fighter and it was too late for him to safely move.
I materialized directly in front of Roman, taking the full brunt of both fireballs straight into my chest.
The impact was like being hit head on by a semi truck. I heard the loudest cracking noise, as if something were shattering
or breaking, loud enough to hurt my ears. I could hear the screams of the wolves in the crowd as the sheer impact sent me hurtling straight into the ground, I'm not even sure how far.
It took my breath away and blasting through layers of dirt sending pieces of the ground flying above me.
Raziel screaming, “Ryane, no!!!” Was the last thing I remember.
(Raziel)
I was helpless in the fight against Rayne and Raphael. The darkness was just too strong, too overpowering for my powers. It was no use even trying to intervene. Rayne and Raphael needed to battle this one out, and honestly they looked like exquisite mages, battling from the underground. It was magnificent and terrifying all at the same time.
Rayne looked like a dark goddess. Once she had let the darkness in, a whirlwind of black smoke enveloped her being, and when she emerged she was dressed in a solid black dress that was long with slits up both sides to mid thigh. The top was sleeveless and low cut, accentuating her perfect cleavage in an extremely flattering way.
She had a crown that looked as if it were made from the darkness itself. She had on black makeup, a perfect smokey eye with winged liner and her solid black eyes seemed to complete the look.
She was always perfection, but something about her in this form had me reeling. Something about the dark, the control, had me wanting so much more.
As we watched the fight, she was so graceful in her every move. Dodging and weaving his attacks, and retaliating with her own. The commotion caused the pack wolves to come running, and everyone took seats in the arena to watch this unfold.
What a terrible idea I thought, but who was I to tell them no? Focusing back on the battle, I was extremely surprised when Rayne raised an army of the dead or were those demons? Either way, That was something only a Necromancer could do, and they had been gone for years and years.
I don’t believe they are extinct, but in hiding maybe? Raphaels fault of course, causing the great war. You don’t mess with the Necromancers, but that's another story. I had almost thought Raphael was going to be overwhelmed by the demons, “Rayne, Raphael, Stop this nonsense!” I shouted out. Yes my brother had done unthinkable things, and deserved everything he was about to get, but he was still my brother and I couldn’t just stand there and let him die.
But then he sent a shockwave, one that i’ve seen Rayne send multiple times, and destroyed her army. It was a fair fight again. The battle was so intense, weapons were involved, and destroyed.
Rayne ended up with a bullwhip that was on fire, and I thought Raphael was done for a couple of times. When he grabbed the end and pulled her into his arms, fury riddled through me.
I knew this was about love, and his feelings for her, but it never made it any easier to see them like this. It seemed as if she couldn't get away, even though she was trying.
Then he completely shattered my mark, the only thing keeping her safe from his advances. My heart sank, he was going to remark here right here, right now, and with the pull from the darkness she wouldn’t be able to resist.
I was about to lose the only woman I had ever loved, and I was fucking helpless.
Chapter 57
I watched in horror and I knew there was nothing I could do. Especially with the darkness, they would be unstoppable together. Then to my surprise Rayne summoned her staff, and slammed it into the ground, hard. It knocked me straight off my feet with a sound that was so loud it almost hurt my ears, and sent Raphael flying across the arena away from her.
Relief swept through me, “good girl” I said out loud, more to myself than anyone. Raphael came back and it looked like they were talking now, but then he turned our way and I knew he was getting tired of the games. We locked eyes just as he sent two giant black fireballs hurtling our way.
Myself and Alpha Drake dove out of the way, but Roman didn’t move. He was in shock, and there was no way I was getting to him in time. That’s when I saw Rayne materialize herself directly in front of him, taking the full brunt of both fireballs straight to her chest.
The impact was loud, so loud. As soon as the fireballs hit her, she went hurtling into the ground in a mess of dirt and grass.
Raphael on the other side did the exact same thing, but went hurtling through the air. It was as if he was hit by the fireballs too.
“Rayne, No!!!” I screamed above the cries of the wolves in the arena. As soon as she was hit the thunderstorm cleared, as if her magic was useless if she wasn’t alive.
Pain shot through my chest almost knocking me to my knees in grief. I couldn't lose her! I would make whatever deal was necessary to bring her back, I didn’t care!
I tried to materialize to Rayne, but I was blocked. I could hear Romans cries behind me, and I turned to lock eyes with Alpha Drake. His face was solem, un moving like always, but his ocean blue eyes told another story.
Suddenly the familiar chill to the bone feeling made its way snaking through the arena. I could see the shadows writhing and slithering from everywhere and nowhere all at once.
The arena darkened with shadows, and I could see the slimy slithery tendrils going deep into the earth where Rayne once stood.
The wolves were uncomfortable and I could hear their chatter, most of them had never seen the shadows before.
I looked across the arena and I could see Raphael stirring on the ground, but he was the least of my worries at this point.
After a few minutes the shadows emerged holding a lifeless Rayne in their grasp. I tried to materialize to her and was blocked again. I went to run her way, and I couldn't even move. It was as if my feet were secured firmly to the ground with heavy chains forbidding me to move.
I was once again helpless and had to sit in agony and watch as tears flowed down my face. I fell to my knees as the shadows were writhing and seething, levitating Raynes body in the air.
“A sacrifice was given, an innocent life wasss saved, a selflesss act provided, by someone extremely brave. A life for a life wasss given, but a life wasss never the price, a debt must be repaid, shadowsss can sometimesss be nice.” The shadows slithered. Their voices echoing and reverberating through the air and into my soul.
“Come back to the world of the living, Rayne. Come back to usss now!” The shadows shouted in a multitude of voices. Their words shook me to the core dancing over my skin like shards of ice.
Suddenly Rayne was engulfed in a white light so bright it hurt my eyes to look at. The white light surrounding her exploded outwards and was then absorbed out of the air into her body.
The shadows slowly brought her down and set her on the ground lightly. I was then finally able to move, I materialized to Rayne instantly and took her into my arms.
The shadows were writhing and pulsing around us casting their familiar chill to the bone across everyone in the arena.
“Rayne, c’mon darling, wake up” I pleaded. I knew the shadows had brought her back to life, but it was always something with the shadows, knowing my luck she would be alive but in a deep sleep for the rest of her life.
She was beautiful though, she looked so peaceful lying almost lifeless in my arms, unlike the past few months with her internal battle going on. She slowly started to stir and her eyes slowly fluttered open.
I gasped when I saw her beautiful Platinum eyes looking back at me. The darkness, it was gone, completely! No black smoke, no solid black eyes. “Are you ok?!” I asked her, worry filling my words.
“Raziel, I’m fine” She stammered, catching her breath. I brought her to my chest and held her tightly. “What is your price?” I asked the shadows. I knew they would want something, they always want something.
“She hasss paid the price, a life for a life, a selflesss act. We owed her thisss time.” They slithered. “And the darkness?” I asked. “It isss destroyed. The darknesss cannot survive its own magic, thisss isss why the pull of the darknesss to itself isss so strong. When Raphael used the darknesss and hit Rayne with it, she died, but the darknesss also wasss destroyed, shattered into piecesss and
dissipated into the earth.” They echoed.
And without letting us ask another question they slithered back into everything and nothing from which they came, taking their icy chill to the bone cold with them.
