Song of Leira

by Gillian Bronte Adams

At long last she could seek peace.

The Song had led her through the unknown in the darkest places beneath the earth. It could lead her forth through the unknown in the sunlit lands as well. For now, she was content to bask in the stillness that welled within her soul. Stirred by the voice of the Master Singer, resonating in her ears: Behold, I am doing a new thing.

And her heart sang in answer.

  Acknowledgments

Honestly, writing this book was (to borrow a phrase from dear old Amos) boggswoggling hard! It would never have been completed without the consumption of oceans of coffee, the back-saving efforts of my ridiculously comfortable writing chair, and the sustaining grace of prayer. It is a difficult thing to come to the end of a well-loved tale. But I think it was more than that too. Art is often more expressive than we realize. I wrote the previous book in this series, Songkeeper, during the uphill struggle of recovery following a traumatic accident. And if Songkeeper was my soul crying into the darkness for my Father to speak as I journeyed through the desert, Song of Leira became the answer that was whispered back to me over the next year and a half through Scripture, music, faithful friends, and those glorious mirrors of truth: books.

  Peace. Be still.

So to the One who calls me daughter and renews my heart, thank you.

To all the songwriters and authors whose works I have loved and who have inspired me with the echoes of eternity woven into their stories, thank you.

To my editor, Steve Laube, a thousand thanks for bearing with me through trials and success, for encouraging me in my moments of doubt, and for your brilliant sense of Story that enables you to wield such an expert blade to hone and improve my manuscripts.

To my family, the truth speakers in my life, thank you for standing with me, around me, and behind me. For bearing me up when I stumble and cheering me on when I grow weary, for believing in me when I struggle to believe in myself.

And to you fiercely beloved readers who have waited so impatiently for this last installment, sending notes threatening begging me not to hurt Birdie, Amos, and Ky, thank you for reading these books and reminding me that these characters I have loved no longer belong to me alone! You guys are #BetterthantheUnderground!

  About the Author

Gillian Bronte Adams is a sword-wielding, horse-riding, wander-loving fantasy author, rarely found without a coffee in hand and rumored to pack books before clothes when she hits the road. Working in youth ministry left her with a passion for journeying alongside children and teens. (It also enhanced her love of coffee.) Now, she writes novels that follow outcast characters down broken roads, through epic battles, and onward to adventure. And at the end of a long day of typing, she can be found saddling her wild thing and riding off into the sunset, seeking adventures of her own (and more coffee).
