“I-I’m s-sorry!” I sobbed as I walked over him and out the door.
“Kara!” Gabriel screamed weakly. “You’re Controlled! Fight it!”
I couldn’t fight it. It was impossible. My legs kept moving toward the black car parked outside.
I slid inside. As soon as I did, Emma’s words tore through both of our minds.
“Felicity is buying me time, feigning she saw Elias to distract your protectors. They took off, so it’s just you and me. Everything I am saying to you, you will forget I was the one who said it, but you will still do as I tell you. You may remember once you have completed what I want fully, just for my own personal gratification. You will stay as quiet as possible as you hallucinate a trail of blood into the forest. In the woods, images of your loved ones will torment you. Follow the trail of blood until you reach what you think is a dead Gabriel. After all of that, have Gabriel come to your home when you are ready to see him. This is very important. It must be your free will; you must want Gabriel more than anything else. When he is most vulnerable, stab him near his heart multiple times to make him weak from blood loss. Do not kill him. Elias’s lackeys will know when Gabriel enters your home, and they will have your guards either killed or incapacitated, so no one will hinder you. Leave your house, and go left down the street until you see a black Convertible, and then get inside.”
Cold horror filled me. Were Thomas and Inola dead? What had I done?
I tried to open the car door, but I was locked inside. My breath hitched as my gaze went to the rearview mirror. Silver eyes stared back at me.
“Are you ready to die, little hummingbird?”
