The Story of DeLano Trevino Page 20

“Ssssh,” Solai soothed rubbing her back. “Take deep breaths. You gotta breathe Nik.”

  “I-I’m t-trying,” she choked out.

Tears filled both the friends’ eyes watching Anika practically fall apart in front of them. The weight of her situation was weighing her down, and they felt the pressure as well. When she finally stabilized her breathing and wiped her face, she sat with a pained look marring her face. The almost inaudible words she spoke next made Neicey and Solai drop their heads.

“He said he may be doing a year. He’s going to miss the birth of his son,” she whispered in disbelief.

As they tried consoling her, the only thing Anika could think about was how life was so unfair. She had tons of questions to ask him but couldn’t even formulate a sentence after that blow to the chest. A year on a fucking misdemeanor charge? She grimaced just thinking about the time and how Lano would miss out on the birth of his son. Had Samia’s life not already been taken, she was most definitely going to put a hit out on her.

Ultimately, she was the reason why he was in jail, to begin with. Had Lano not gon’ over her crib, that crooked ass cop wouldn’t have been able to plant the gun on him. Anika knew one thing, Seth had better tighten the fuck up, because though she was sad, and her feelings were hurt, she needed her man home right fucking now. There was no way she was bringing his seed into this world without his father being present. Whatever magic tricks Seth had to pull up out of his ass, Anika was going to volunteer to buy him some lube to pull them out. Lano missing his son, his legacy, enter the world was not an option.
