The Hidden Revelations: First Light Page 41

  “Morning,” I said politely.

I always admired the way it looked like they thought a-like, it was as if they were made for each other. Hopefully Sam and I would be like them too one day.

  “Good morning,” Sam replied.

“We are leaving for work now. We will be home later tonight,” Peter said.

Him and Summer walked past us to the garage door and we waved goodbye.

“Do you think you can handle Rosetta coming around here?” Sam asked, sweeping my fringe back again.

I looked at him and put my hands on his shoulders. “As long as you're here.”

He smiled at me lovingly and put both his hands on either sides of my neck. “Always,” he simply answered, his thumbs stroking the sides of my neck.

  22. Apologies

We arrived at school just before the bell rang thanks to Elane. She couldnt find her jumper anywhere and demanded we all help her look for it. We eventually found it in her school bag and we were almost late, but she did say sorry for causing everybody a hassle.

“Sam, Rosetta's in my first class,” I whispered to him in panic, grabbing his arm.

“It's okay, she has been moved and someone else took her spot,” he said excitedly.

  “Who?” I asked mystified.

We had reached K block for my maths class and I was nearly at the door.

“Just wait and see,” he said teasingly.

“What do you mean?” I asked, stopping and looking at him.

He smiled slyly and gestured for me to enter the classroom with his hands. I looked at him dubiously but pulled the door open and entered the heated classroom with him following me inside.

“Where do you sit?” he asked me inquisitively.

“Um, over there,” I answered, pointing to the two desks Rosetta and I usually sat at.

“Go and sit down,” he said in my ear, making Goosebumps appear on my neck.

I nodded and watched Mr. Henrys pass me as I went over to my seat. Sam went right up to Mr. Henrys desk and showed him a slip of paper. I couldn't hear what they were saying but I had a feeling Sam traded with Rosetta.

I saw Mr. Henrys nod his head and Sam walked over to me with a smirk on his face. I looked at him in stunned silence and he sat down, pulling his book out before looking at me.

“What?” he whispered, trying to hold back a smile with his eyes on mine.

“How did you get into my class? I thought it was too late to change,” I whispered back.

Mr. Henrys had just started writing on the board so we had a little time to talk while his back was to us.

“It is, but Rosetta and I traded Math and English classes,” he whispered, looking back and fourth between the teacher and me.

“You are incredible,” I whispered, shaking my head slowly in admiration.

He smiled at me warmly and it made my heart miss a beat, he was gorgeous in every aspect of him.

Through math it was pretty much the same except I had something there to waste my attention on; Sam. He was actually sort of distracting, but then again he would help me with class work so we would both get it done.

After math, Sam walked me to my English class where I saw James just walk into the classroom.

“I'll see you after class,” I said, my tone dropping slightly.

He smirked at me and leaned forwards, kissing me gently. “Definitely,” he guaranteed when he pulled back.

He let me go and started walking towards his class, smiling at me. I took one last look at him before I turned away and walked into my class. I walked into the classroom and walked over to James and Megan, who were to much of my surprise, talking.

“Hey James,” I said, kissing his head and mussing his very short hair.

Well you couldnt really muss James hair because he had a crew cut, which undeniable suited his straight cut features, but I could always pretend

“Hey Lays,” he said, going back to his conversation with Megan.

“Hey Megan,” I greeted her while taking my seat in between the two.

  “Hey,” she said.

“What are you guys talking about?” I asked, pulling my book out.

“What would be a good present to get a female or male,” James explained.

“Cool, but it does depend on what that guy or girl likes,” I mentioned to them.

“True,” they both said, nodding their heads in agreement.

I smiled and Mr. Stern walked into the classroom with a fat pile of textbooks on a trolley.

“Alright class, today we will be starting our new subject on Australian outlaws,” he said, making the class groan in synchronization.

English flew by and soon enough Sam was waiting for me outside my English class. As soon as I stepped out the door he wrapped me in a hug, kissing my cheek.

“See ya Lays,” Megan said with a wave, walking off to her next class.

  “Bye,” I called after her.

James was standing next to us and grinning hugely.

“What are you grinning at?” I asked with a smile.

“Nothing, I'll see you later Lays. See you Sam,” he rushed out, kissing my cheek and punching Sams shoulder.

Sam punched him back and smiled at his brother before he took off his way.

“You ready to attend law studies?” Sam asked.

I groaned and rolled my eyes. Why did today have to be half way through the year. All of my subjects except English, Math and gym had changed. Instead of Spanish I now had Law studies. I use to have Biology, now I have physics, and lucky I handed in all my assignments two weeks ago or I would have failed miserably in every one of my subjects.

We got to B block where our new law studies class was, and fortunately for me, Sam was in three out of five of my classes now, including my Math, law studies and physics. It was pure luck that we got most of the same classes, but I think Sam might have swindled them somehow.

I pulled Sam into the classroom and over to some empty seats to sit down. I pulled his smooth hand into my lap and held it tightly. It was sort of nerve racking, starting a new subject, but I was really interested in Law. I was also terribly curious to see who was in my new classes, besides Sam.

I watched as people walked in and took a seat somewhere, but I didn't really know many of them except for Jason Barnes who waved to me, and Renee Evans; Venessas twin sister who wore a headscarf as well.

I always respected the Evans sisters because they believed in their religion, and with that they wore their headscarfs and covered their skin no matter what anybody thought. I knew that only their own family and girls were allowed to see their skin and hair, boys outside of immediate family weren't. I also knew that when they get married, thats when they can take them off permanently if they want.

My eyes trailed over to Sam and he was looking forward towards the board, the sun was glinting off his eyes beautifully. I was entranced by him, his personality was the best part of him, it was what made him himself. I would follow him to the ends of the earth and back, I would follow him anywhere, anytime. He was my life and that was never going to change.

“You okay?” Sam whispered to me, bringing me out of my reverie.

I hadnt noticed he caught me staring at him. How embarrassing.

“Ah, yeah... just daydreaming,” I said, blinking and turning away from his stare.

I saw him smile from the corner of my eye and I nudged him softly, making sure I didn't move my torso too much.

Our new teacher walked in and class begun.

We walked to lunch slowly, grabbing food from the canteen and walking to our table.

“Do you want to know something?” I asked as we were walking towards our table.

  “Sure,” he simply answered.

“I think I love you,” I said, kissing his warm smooth cheek.

He smiled and squeezed my hand. “You deserve better,” he mumbled.

I sighed. There was no point arguing with him now, he would just get agitated and that could go bad for
the both of us. We sat down and Jane and Hunter were already involved in a conversation, so I had no choice but to stay quiet. I picked at my food restlessly, staring at it without seeing it. Sometimes I thought about what would have happened if Adam had never left or if I had chosen not to carry on with my life. Would I have ever met these wonderful people I know now?

I looked around me and to the faces that have helped me so much, they were there for me and still are. My eyes rested on Sam, he was drawing in his book skilfully. How could he ever think I could do better than him, he was perfect and it was… I guess it was sort of a miracle I found him. He is my pair, my combinare.

Everyone was laughing and talking at our small table, seeing all their faces made me happy, but most importantly, Sams made me feel full of joy and comfort, knowing I wasn't alone anymore.

He looked over at me, meeting my thoughtful expression curiously. His face softened up and he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me into his side. I put my arms around his waist and let my head rest against his rock hard chest. I really needed him, he was my oxygen, he was what mainly kept my heart beating. I loved him with my whole heart.

“All this will be over soon,” he murmured into my ear.

I was tired of all this fighting and especially because either Sam or myself kept getting hurt. It was more than annoying, it was frustrating beyond belief. We were both targets for danger more than anybody else, it was unbelievable.

“I hope so,” I said back.

He rubbed my back soothingly and I felt his lips against my cheek. I smiled slightly and looked around the cafeteria, spotting Rosetta. She was sitting at my old table and talking to Megan. I hope she knows that Supernatural people are a secret and to not tell anybody.

“I'm here,” Sam whispered in my ear, following my gaze.

“I know you are,” I said, not meeting his stare but keeping my eyes on her.

The bell finally rung and Sam and I were heading off to our new physics class in H block. We walked in the cold wind, the weather was getting abnormally cold and I didnt think it was natural, it just didnt seem right. We walked into the class and took a table in the middle row. Once again I looked around me, and this time I saw a few people I knew including Liz Palmer, Lily Reighner and Ria Kliner. I actually liked Rias name, her real name was actually Rianna, Ria was just her nick name.

Our new teacher walked in who I presumed was Mr. Nix. He was a middle aged man with red hair and was very short but he looked nice enough.

“Good morning, you must be my new yr. 10 physics class. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Mr. Nix, your teacher for the rest of the year,” he said, walking up to the front of the class. “Alright, I'll take attendance and we'll get started” he told the class.

We started studying the physics of plants and the nutrients in them and what that can do in medicines. It was pretty interesting, mainly because Sam would explain to me in English what we would have to do, making it easier for me. It seemed like Sam knew all this stuff off by heart, but then again he has probably had a lot of time to study it. He was so smart, and strong, and I really had to stop thinking about him, I thought to myself in a rush.

Sam walked me to the gym after physics had finished, and this time instead of leaving me to walk in alone, he walked me inside this time. He held me closely and asked me where I have to meet for class, like he was scoping out the place or something.

“Over there,” I said, pointing to my classes section of the gym.

His eyes scanned the gym and I had a feeling that he was looking for Sylar, but he didn't seem to be around thank god.

“You're going to be late for class,” I said, claiming his attention by reaching my hand to the side of his face.

“Alright, it seems to be safe,” he said, his eyes searching around again.

He looked at me and grabbed my shoulders. “If anything happens, if Sylar comes, go to the teacher straight away and act sick so you get sent to the office.”

I nodded earnest and he looked at me concerned.

“Okay, see you after class,” he said quietly, smoothing his hands down my hair and kissing my forehead.

He walked out the gym doors quickly and as he left I saw Fredric enter, so I went to sit down with him until class started.

I sat in the passenger seat of the Hummer on our way home from school with Sam driving. Gym was fine, nothing out of the ordinary thank god, though I did keep a look out, and so did Fredric. Every time I looked around, or at Fredric, he was either looking around or staring at me, which I was grateful for. I wasn't worrying about that though, I was stressing about Rosetta coming over. I knew I would be safe now that she is a good being, so I should be fine, but I was having troubles reassuring myself. I could feel the burns on my back flare up and I started wincing internally. This wasnt good.

“You will be okay. If I didn't think it was safe I would not let her be even 100 metres near you,” Sam reassured me.

He rested one of his hands on mine and left his other hand on the steering wheel as we cruised in fourth gear.

“I know. I'm fine, really,” I reassured him with a weak smile.

Why was this so hard for me, maybe it was the fact that she had tried to kill me once and might attempt it again. I don't know, maybe I was just being human by fearing someone who tried to kill me twice on the same occasion. I couldn't stop my mind from over-reacting.

The big gates to the Archer property opened and Sam drove the Hummer up the driveway, stopping in front of the garage door and turning the ignition off. It was cold today, colder than usual, so cold I could see my breath fogging up the window and it was the afternoon already.

“I'll be with you,” Sam said, turning towards me.

I nodded and jumped out of the Hummer, putting my jumper on. I still felt cold with it on so I put my arms around myself, then walked around to Sam.

“It's so cold,” I said, chafing my hands against my arms.

He unzipped his jacket and wavered me over. I instantly attached to his warmth under his jacket, feeling he only had that jacket on over his uniform shirt. I felt him zip the zipper up and now we were both wearing his jacket. His arms were in the sleeves around my body and my arms were around his waist. We stood still, waiting for my body to heat up, and I secretly didnt want to move away from his feverishly warm body. After a couple of minutes I started feeling a bit warmer so I told Sam let's go. He let me put my feet on top of his shoes and he walked us both inside as we shared his jacket still. I was backwards basically, but Sam was walking forwards as I tightened my arms around his waist. We made our way into the warm house slowly, and I was looking around myself cautiously, still suspicious of Rosetta.

“Jane, Elane, James,” Sam called out, unzipping the jacket so I could get out now we were in the warm house.

“In the ballroom,” Elane shouted normally.

I looked around me in horror as I climbed off his shoes. This was it, I was very nervous and edgy but I could do this. Sam pulled me forward, holding me tightly for reassurance and security. We walked through the kitchen and towards the ballroom. I saw the door was ajar and I took a deep breath to calm myself. I was literally shaking in my shoes, I shouldnt have been, but I was.

We walked through the door and I saw there were eight evenly spaced chairs around the room, making up a perfect circle. It was like an intervention. I saw Rosetta and my breath caught, so I looked away from her and saw Jane and Elane sitting next to each other, and then Fredric and Hunter. I walked over to a chair without a word, letting go of Sams hand and sitting down. Sam moved a chair next to me using his ability without leaving my side and sat down, his eyes hard on Rosetta. I guess he was still wary about her just like I was. He had more of a reason to hate her than me. She tried to kill him and his family in their own home, then he accidentally almost killed me, and his day at school was probably interrupted. It did comfort me though, knowing that I had people here for me if anything were to go wrong.

  I heard a cra
sh and looked in the direction of the noise, my heart pumping. I was ready to spring out of that chair for any reason, my muscles were already bunched. Sam grabbed my hand in an instant and I looked back at him in panic.

“It's just James,” he reassured me in a murmur, and in response my muscles relaxed a little.

James walked in the next minute with a hard frustrated look on his face, cussing silently under his breath, and sat down in a chair next to Rosetta. I could hear him cuss so clearly, even though he was doing it under his breath, it was that quiet in the ballroom.

I looked around me and it was getting to an awkward silence stage so I looked at the floor.

“Well… this is…” Jane was struggling for words so James helped her out.

  “Awkward.”

She glowered at James but looked back at us. “Right, well maybe we should leave Rosetta and Lays alone for a bit,” she suggested.

I looked at Sam in worry and he had his head in the direction of Jane. He was glaring at her murderously.

“Sam,” Elane spoke. “We shall all be in the next room, she will be okay,” she reassured him.

He turned his head back to face me and took my face in his hands. He leaned in and pressed his warm full lips to mine very sweetly, again and again.

“She is not dying,” Jane said annoyed, walking out the ballroom doors.

“Shut up Jane,” I murmured before kissing him back.

He smiled my favourite breathtaking smile and kissed me once more before getting up and reluctantly leaving the room. The door closed with a soft click and now it was just Rosetta and I left, face-to-face.

  “So…” I said slowly.

“Umm, I just wanted to tell you I'm so sorry,” Rosetta said, looking down at the ground ashamed.

“I know,” I said, avoiding eye contact.

“I just don't know what was running through my head. I guess I just wanted to be the most powerful at the time. I could hear the whole mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most powerful of them all voice going through my head.”

“Rosetta, seriously it's okay. You don't know what I have been through since you left,” I said, mind blown just re-thinking the past seven months.
