Bourne Bodyguards: The Complete Series (Books 1-4) Page 13

Wyatt laughed and reached over to squeeze my thigh in a way that still made me tremble. “Glad the universe got your message, my moon. It just wouldn’t be the same playing flag football in the rain.”

The men of BPS loved to get together and play football during our annual picnic. They always swore it would be the touch variety, but none of them could help themselves it seemed, and they always turned to tackling, as we all cheered them on from the sidelines.

Wyatt was still in amazing shape, and even though neither of us believed in violence, I had to admit that seeing him running around shirtless and roughing up his friends always gave me a thrill.

I had to shake my head to clear away the thoughts of my husband’s chiseled body glinting in the sun. We’d just pulled into the parking lot and I could see we were the last to arrive.

Finn and Rowan jumped out of the car and ran off hollering with delight at the sight of their friends. I handed Wyatt the bag of food and we followed our sons.

The whole Bourne Protective Services family greeted us with smiles and hugs. We’d been meeting like this for a picnic and a football game on the first official day of summer since right after Wyatt and I got married.

I started unpacking the food we’d brought and laying it out with the rest of the goodies. A soft breeze blew my hair back from my face and I took a moment to look around me in wonder.

Seeing my closest friends with their husbands and children filled me with a contented joy I never would have believed I’d be able to find at one point in my life.

I had a feeling Lily, Blair, and Amelia would say the same thing. It was the men of BPS we had to thank, and not just for saving us all at one time or another.

The four incredible men standing around and watching their children play were also responsible for bringing us unconditional love and peaceful bliss.

Of course, if they’d been asked, the men of BPS would probably say it was us women that had saved them, and if that wasn’t true love, I didn’t know what was.

I gave a happy sigh and went to join them all in a perfect day full of laughter and love, reveling in the knowledge that it was just one of many more to come.
