Eddie: Grime Doesn't Pay (The Brothers Grime Book 2)

Before heading down to the cabin, he slipped off his swim trunks and placed them on the deck to dry.
“Now that you mention it.” Dave stood and let his trunks slide down without taking his eyes off Gabe’s.
“God, You’re beautiful.” Gabe’s heart contracted with awe.
His voice hoarse, his face aflame, Dave surprised him by saying, “Thank you.”
It had taken time and patience to teach Dave how to accept a compliment—that it wasn’t unmanly to be beautiful or to be admired for it.
And Dave really was gorgeous. Classically handsome, with sharp features and a chiseled jaw, he had silky brown hair and brown eyes and a body that was sheer perfection.
Swimming, cycling, running, lifting, if it was a sport, Dave excelled in it. But he was most at home in the water, and his body bore the lean, cut muscles unique to swimmers. And he was heavily inked, which was also typical of the local beach boys. You couldn’t see those tattoos under the suits he wore to work, but Dave knew. As often as he could, he traced the patterns with his fingers and tongue.
“You’re beautiful too, G,” Dave said suddenly. “I never tell you that. I don’t. I’m not—”
“No worries.” Gabe started down the ladder. He shot Dave a longing glance. “Come and show me.”
Gabe stretched out as best he could in the cramped bunk. Dave lay down, half on top of him. He kissed Gabe along his neck, over his collar bone. He smoothed cold hands down his sides and along his flanks, giving him gooseflesh.
Gabe’s cock rose, answering eagerly. He reached out and grazed Dave’s with the backs of his knuckles, gratified to feel Dave twitch and fill as they squirmed into a more comfortable position.
Dave wiggled against him. “Mm. You’re shivering.”
“Water was fucking freezing.” Gabe said through gritted teeth.
“Poor cream puff,” Dave whispered next to his ear. “I’ve got you.”
“You gonna warm me up?” Gabe rubbed his hands over Dave’s strong back, down the ridges of his spine, to the dimples in his butt and squeezed.
Dave slipped a hand behind his neck and Gabe opened to him, let his lips part. He traced Dave’s mouth with his tongue and moved on to kiss whatever part of him he could reach.
Dave scraped his fingers softly over Gabe’s thigh and hooked his hand behind knee. Nudging Gabe’s legs apart, he fit himself between them, pulling first one leg around his hip and then the other.
Fully relaxed now that he was thawing, Gabe locked his ankles behind Dave’s thighs. They rocked happily against one another, fighting to find the best position for precome-slickened friction. Gabe tipped his head back, allowing Dave to press kisses against his throat. Dave nibbled his Adam’s apple, tickling him. He squirmed again.
He often grew submissive with Dave, but it wasn’t only about power. Sure, Dave liked control but he was pretty magnanimous when it came to the give and take. No. Things were changing between them. They had changed. And Gabe figured, why not be as vulnerable with his body as he was with his heart?
“Tickles.” He snorted, shrugging his shoulders defensively.
Dave lifted his head. “Want me to stop.”
“No.” With one word, he’d changed the tone.
Dave met his gaze solemnly, as though he knew how much Gabe wanted this—how long Gabe had waited for his chance at a serious fuck on the boat with him. He probably did know. Gabe wasn’t exactly adept at hiding his emotions.
“I want you.” Dave’s words were laced with sadness. “You probably think—”
“I don’t want to think.” Gabe hurried to shut him up before he could spoil the moment with honesty. God. Gabe couldn’t bear that. He was rebound guy, but if Dave said it, or worse, tried to reassure him, it would crush him.
Dave’s gaze narrowed. “No. I need to say this. I’m focused on you. Right now, I’m here with you, and this is exactly where I want to be.”
“Okay.” Gabe’s heart gave a lurch of happiness. It didn't last because he couldn't trust it. He should be glad Dave was giving him this time—this chance to see if they fit together. But he didn’t feel relieved by the words.
Turned out, Dave wasn’t the only one with issues.
Mouth dry, Gabe added, “Lube and condoms are—”
“I know where they are, Gabe.” Dave shot him a wicked smile and leaned over to reach into the drawers under the bunk. He came up with the goods and lifted himself up on one elbow as he used the lube to work Gabe open. “You’re tight.”
Gabe shivered while those clever fingers circled and tapped and pushed inside him. He let go, giving himself to the pleasure of his skillful lover. He leaned into the sweet knowledgeable pressure and the orgasm building within.
“Oh, stop.” He groaned when Dave found his sweet spot. “I want you inside me when I come.”
“You ready?” Dave held himself still above him.
“More than.” Gabe searched Dave’s eyes, which were boyish still. Every time with Dave forced him to surrender to the obvious. He loved Dave with everything he had. Maybe it wouldn’t be enough in the long run, but right now, he had to fight to keep from throwing the words down like a challenge between them.
“Go,” he urged.
Once Dave slipped inside him, all he could think about was Dave’s cock in his ass. His mouth would be occupied with better things than confessions.
Dave stared, as if trying to memorize his face. He didn’t move. “When I think that all this time, you’ve been right here, and I’ve been so blind…”
Gabe gave a sharp gasp of surprise as Dave breached all his defenses at once. He clenched his teeth against the truth, but the words swelled inside him—I love you. I love you. I love you.
They rocked as gently as the boat, sizzling with need, and long after they spent their passion, they kissed and kissed until the sun slid from the sky.
The stars came out, one by one.
A crescent moon winked down at them.
Gabe couldn’t picture a more beautiful date, or a more considerate lover. He couldn’t imagine a better sail. It was truly the finest day of his whole life.
And then…
And then it became the worst.
