I’m stunned listening to him. This isn’t the same man that has been making my life hell. It’s almost as if he cares. I have no idea if it’s a cover or what, but I appreciate the words, nonetheless.

  “How is Harper?” Dom asks.

I kick him in the ribs as hard as I can, over and over. “Don’t ever ask about her again. You have no right to know shit,” I yell.

Kace at some point came back into the room and pulls me back. “Hey, get that shit under control. This is what Brooks wants,” he whispers.

Fuck. He’s right. That asshole didn’t mean anything he said. He’s trying to play on the only thing that gets me to lose my shit...Harper. He thinks I’ll kill Dom, so he won’t have to answer to us this time. Well fuck him. Fuck them both.

I push Kace away and kick Dom one more time. I’m breathing heavily as I point my gun at his head. “You’ve been to Kingsley’s lake house; you know where it is. I want the location. I want you to tell us who the informant is, and who the fuck is sending Harper the threaten notes. Tell me and I’ll walk out of this room. Don’t tell me and I will give you a gunshot wound that will slowly and painfully kill you. You decide Dom. Are you a fucking man or a fucking coward?”

“I don’t know about a fucking lake house or an informant. Kingsley does shit without my knowledge. Any notes to Harper had nothing to do with us, I swear it,” he shouts.

“I told you he wouldn’t give us shit,” Porter says.

I want to end him, put a bullet between his eyes, but I don’t. Not yet. I won’t give Brooks the satisfaction. Instead I turn to face them all. “Now what?”

“Let’s give him some time to think,” Enzo says.

I leave him on his back and walk out of the room. Everyone follows as Enzo locks the door with a key. As I pass the room Harper is in, my pulse picks up. We need to figure this out quickly because I don’t want him this close to her. Even if he can’t get to her, he’s still too close. She doesn’t need her shitty past staring her in the face.

When we get around the table, I greedily take the joint Riley offers. I’m so pissed, but it’s not because I expected to get anything out of Dom. It’s because I can’t stop thinking of all the shit that was done to my girl because of him and her father. I hope he’s suffering in there.

“He’s not going to tell us anything,” I say, hitting the joint.

“No, he’s not, but I’m sure Kingsley is well aware we have him. We’ll wait and see,” Brooks says.

I take another hit of the joint and pass it back to Riley. As I exhale, I say, “No, fuck that. We aren’t sitting around and waiting. We need to find that lake house.”

“I agree with Z. Waiting around gives Kingsley the upper hand,” Porter says.

We all look at Brooks, waiting on him to lead us in a direction. He leans back in his chair, running his hand through his hair. “We find the lake house. Dom can suffer for a while, but Z is the one who will go in and kill him. He deserves to finish what was started with that asshole.”

“Alex, get to work on finding that house. Zane, maybe you can see if there is anything Harper can remember that will help,” Enzo says.

I nod, placing my palms on the table. “Yeah, I’ll talk to her.” I glance between Brooks and Enzo. “I wanted to talk to you.” I look around the table. “Everyone, actually.”

  “What?” Brooks snaps.

I turn my head to him. I want to ask him what the fuck his problem is, but I don’t, instead I ask what I’ve been thinking about. “We’ve had the building for Souls Two for months now. It’s just sitting, taking our money. What would you think about letting Harper design it and get it up and running? Letting her run Souls Two?”

Everyone looks around, gaging to see what to say at this point. I don’t think it’s a big deal. She knows what she’s doing and how to make money. They’d be fucking idiots to say no.

“Do we vote on this?” Alex asks.

Brooks looks at me and I honestly can’t tell if he’s pissed or shocked. He sighs and looks at Enzo, before looking around the table. “Let’s vote.”

  Fuck.

Porter, Riley, Alex, Kace, and of course, me, are all yesses. It comes down to Enzo and Brooks. Enzo grins and says yes.

Brooks nods, “Yes, but we need to approve plans before they are done. She’ll also only use the guys who we trust for construction.”

I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face. “Absolutely,” I say. “I have one more thing.”

“Fucking hell, what now?” Brooks sighs.

I laugh and cross my arms. “I think we should start letting Finn sit in with us. He proved today he’s got balls I didn’t think he did.”

“Yeah, that kid really put his dick on the line today,” Kace says.

“He almost hit Z,” Riley says, laughing.

We all laugh, enjoying a moment of something good.

“Alright, let’s allow him to sit in next time. He did prove his dedication to Shattered Souls today. Now, get the fuck out of here. Alex get to work. Z, talk to Harper. Let’s see what we can come up with in the next couple hours,” Brooks says.

  “What about Dom?” Kace asks.

“We’ll have Finn watch over him,” Enzo says.

I walk out of the room in a good mood, probably for the first time in months.

Harper and Ivy are sitting at a table when we walk out. I raise a curious eyebrow as I stride over. “What’s going on?” I ask, looking between them.

Harper peeks up at me, sighing. “The walls aren’t soundproof, Z. All that shit is scaring Ivy. You guys need to remember she’s here.”

Fuck. I didn’t even consider Ivy. I scrub my face and pull out a chair. I turn it around and straddle it, resting my arms on the back. “It’s not a big deal. Just pressing for some needed information.”

Ivy gives a sickening laugh. “You know, every time I think I’m wrong about you guys, you do something to prove I’m right. You said you were good guys. You said you didn’t hurt people. You said I had the wrong idea about the club.” She leans over the table, staring right into my eyes. “I never should’ve gone against my instincts.”

She’s gonna be a problem. I glance at Harper and she lifts her shoulder. I look around for Kace, hoping he can calm her down, but he’s gone. My attention lands back on Ivy and I say, “I told you we don’t hurt the people we care about. We protect and defend the people we love. Sometimes there needs to be a show of force to get the point across. I won’t apologize for the things I do, because it’s all for Harper. I will die if that’s what it takes to make sure she’s safe. If other’s need to die to ensure her safety, fuck it. I hold no guilt for that.”

She shakes her head looking between me and Harper. “You have no problem with that?” she asks Harper.

“You’re seeing it from a different point of view, Ivy. This is the kind of shit I grew up with. It’s part of this life. So no, I don’t have a problem with it. It’s survival, sweetheart,” Harper explains.

I reach out and grab her hand, squeezing it. She looks at me and I give her a wink. She’s fucking perfect.

“Killing people is never the solution,” Ivy hisses.

“When it’s kill or be killed, it’s the only solution,” I say, titling my head.

She sits quietly for a minute, thinking I imagine. I take the moment to talk to Harper. “We need to talk,” I say, smiling.

She lifts an eyebrow and laughs. “A smile, this is something new.”

I laugh with her and Ivy groans. “I’ll never understand this. How can you guys just sit here talking like everything is fine?”

“What do you want us to do?” I ask.

“I don’t know,” she says, covering her face with her hands. She drops her hands to grab a cigarette. Once it’s lit, she bites her bottom lip. “Has Kace killed anyone?”

“Would it make a difference if he did?” I ask.

She takes a long drag and looks up at the cei
ling. “I don’t know,” she whispers.

“It’s not my place to talk about what Kace has or hasn’t done. I can only tell you guys so many times to talk to each other. This life isn’t for everyone, Ivy, but if you want to be with Kace, you’re gonna need to learn how to accept it. He’s as much as part of this club as I am, as any of us are. He’ll never put you in a situation you don’t want to be in, which is probably why he hasn’t done anything. He sees the way you react to everything. This is the life, sweetheart. It’s messy, it’s hard, and it’s fucked up. Things aren’t as simple as they are for others. We do things other people probably wouldn’t, but that’s just how it is. But, if you want to be with Kace, I can promise you that he’ll never let anything bad happen to you.”

Ivy looks at Harper and a tear runs down her cheek. “I don’t know what to do.”

Harper grabs her hand. I feel bad for Ivy, but it’s not something we can help with. It’s actually starting to piss me off that they are avoiding the situation. They either want to be together or not.

“You need to talk to Kace. I’ve told you a hundred times already. I’ve also told you that it isn’t always like this,” Harper says.

As if he heard his name, Kace comes out from the back. “What’s up?” he asks, looking around at us.

“Ivy is shaken up by what’s going on back there,” I say, lifting my chin toward the back where Dom is.

“Shit,” he says, running his hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, Ivy.”

  “Yeah,” she says.

“How about you two talk, because I need to talk to Harper.” I grab her hand and stand up. “We’ll be back.”

Harper and I walk away, leaving them to figure their shit out. When we get into my room, I lock the door behind us.

“That’s a fucking mess,” she says, sitting down in the chair.

“It’s their mess, don’t worry about it,” I say, leaning against the dresser. “I want to talk to you about some things.”

  “What things?” she asks.

“The club and I would like it if you would get Souls Two up and running.” Her eyes widen as I talk. “It’s just sitting there costing us money and we’d like to start making money.”

She slowly stands up and steps in front of me. “Shattered Souls wants me in charge of getting Souls Two going?”

I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her to me. “Yes, but you need to use our contractors and of course make sure everything is approved by us. You’ll be in charge though, during the renovation and when it’s open. We want you to run it.”

“Zane is this for real?” she whispers, grabbing onto my shirt. Her blue eyes search mine, looking to find the truth.

I trail my hands up her back, sinking my fingers into her hair. I tilt her head back and press a soft kiss to her full lips. “It’s real, babe,” I whisper against her.

She slams her lips to mine and I tighten my hold on her hair, deepening the kiss. I slowly back her up until her legs hit the bed. We both crash to it, lips still connected. Like two horny kids, we grind against each other, while our tongues explore the other’s mouth. My dick is begging to be freed from the confines of my pants, so I break the kiss. Her deep blue eyes collide with mine. They are heated and begging for more.

I pull off her shirt, loving she doesn’t fight it anymore. Her scar is every bit as sexy as she is. She pulls off my shirt, dropping it on the floor. Her hands trail down my chest to my abs and she unbuttons my jeans. I help her get them off, kicking them off the bed. I do the same to her, lightly trailing my fingers down to her jeans. She lifts her hips as I pull them down. I lift her to sit, as I remove her bra next. Her hard-pink nipples are begging for my attention. I lean forward sucking one into my mouth. She moans when I pinch the other, twisting it between my fingers. Her hand slinks between us, palming my hard cock. I moan against her nipple, biting down on it. I pull back, letting it pop out of my mouth.

  “Fuck, Harper,” I breathe out.

I quickly remove my boxers as well as her panties. My fingers slip between her legs, feeling how wet she is. After they are coated in her wetness, I rub small circles on her clit.

“Oh Zane, please,” she moans out as her head drops back.

I pinch her clit, whispering, “Please what, babe?” She rubs her pussy against my hand, and it takes all my control not to slam into her. “I fucking love when you beg me.” She lets out a soft whimper, pressing harder against my hand. I move my hand and grab onto her waist. I turn so my back is against the headboard and she’s straddling me. I grab a hold of her hair, pulling it so her head goes back. My tongue drags up her neck and I bite her ear. “Beg me, Harper. Beg me for what you want.”

Her nails dig into my shoulders as she rocks her hips. “Please, Zane. I need you to fuck me,” she cries out.

I grip her hips and slam my rock-hard cock into her. We both cry out as we begin to move. My fingers dig into her ass, helping her keep the fast pace. Her heavy tits are bouncing, her rigid nipples beckoning for me. My teeth scrape against one, causing her to scream out. As she rides my dick, I worship her tits. Her tight pussy is squeezing me, trying to pull my orgasm from me.

I slip a hand between us, rubbing her clit. “Fuck,” she cries out.

Her eyes are closed, but I can’t take mine off of her. The way her body moves against mine, her silky skin beginning to glisten with sweat. The way her mouth is slightly open as the sounds of her pleasure surround us. The way her essence coats my cock, more and more with every thrust. She’s perfection. She takes my breath away. She’s mine.

“Oh Zane, I’m gonna come,” she screams.

I rub her clit harder and faster, as she rides me just as forcefully. “You feel so good, babe. Your tight cunt is squeezing me, begging for release. Let me feel you come on me,” I groan.

She cries out my name when I pinch her sensitive clit. Watching her come undone on top of me is the most powerful feeling. I do this to her. I make her body scream with pleasure, burn with desire, and rip apart from release. She does the same for me, giving her just as much power.

“Fuck,” I groan, as I feel my orgasm building. I pound into her a few more times, moaning her name as I come inside her.

I pull her against me, holding her tight. “I love you, Harper.”

  “I love you, Zane.”

  Harper

I’m still in disbelief. When Zane told me about running Souls Two it was shocking. I never expected that. I smile as I brush my wet hair. If anyone told me a year ago that I’d be running a strip club for the enemy, I would have died laughing. I would have told them they were crazy. Yet, here I am, getting ready to go look at the building that I will be turning into Souls Two. Zane has to stay here and handle business. Which I know means kill Dom. A part of me feels sorry for him, having known him most of my life. However, it quickly fades when I remember all the things, he’s done to me. He was in no way a gentle man. He took advantage of me and I had no options at that point. I had to let it all happen. The more I think back, the more I start to hope he is suffering like I did. He doesn’t deserve my thoughts.

I didn’t ask Zane if Dom told him anything, because I know he didn’t. He’s not going to give up my father or anything to do with the club. He’ll take it all to his grave. Which is how it should be. Anyone who rats, deserves worse than death. Dom will be gone by the time we get back and I’m glad. Having him here is making it hard to focus. He's a horrible memory of the past and I need it gone.

The door opening pulls me from my thoughts. “Hey baby,” I say, smiling at Zane.

“I gotta say, I love seeing that beautiful smile on your face, babe,” he says. He sits in the chair changing out of his sneakers and into boots.

I swallow watching him. “Let me go before you kill him, alright. I have enough bad memories of him, I don’t need another one.”

He stands, walking to me. His hands wrap around my face and he forces me to look up at him. “That was the plan, babe. I don’t want you here fo
r anything else and Ivy really needs to get the hell out of here. Finn and Riley are going with you.” He presses his strong lips to mine. “I hate that you know so much.”

I sigh and pull away. “Sometimes I do, too, but I’m not Ivy. I know what this life is, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And I sure as fuck wouldn’t have it with anyone other than you.”

He grins, wrapping his hand around the back of my neck. “I’m gonna make you so fucking happy.”

A smile spreads across my face, as my heart pounds in my chest. “You already do.”

He uses his hand to pull me closer, his blue eyes clear and confident. “There’s so much more.”

My body burns with desire at his words. There’s always more with him. More love, more comfort, more safety. He truly is my world. My heart literally beats because of him.

A knock on the door pops our bubble and he steps back. “Z, we’re waiting for Harper,” Riley says.

I nod and pull my hair up into a messy, wet bun. “Please be careful,” I say, pushing up on my toes to wrap my arms around his neck.

His protective arms envelope me, holding me tight. “Stay with Riley and Finn. Don’t give me something to worry about,” he whispers.

  “I promise,” I say.

I walk out of the room, glancing down the hall to where I know Dom is. I stop, feeling the overwhelming need to go in the room. To make him look me in the eye while I tell him what a disgusting human he is. I want to force answers out of him, make him regret everything he’s ever done to me, to hear him beg me to save him.

“Hey, don’t,” Zane yells. I jump and spin back around. He’s standing there with anger in his now dark eyes. He crosses his arms, shaking his head.

I blow out a breath, wrapping my arms around myself. “I just want to force him to tell me everything,” I say, avoiding eye contact.

“Fuck no. This is club business and you are definitely not going in there. I know it’s all fucked up because of your history, but lines cannot be crossed. This is the shit I take care of; you take care of getting Souls Two up and running. Now go,” he demands.
