Beatrice snorted. “Even if you’d texted me, I might not have been able to answer it, under the circumstances. Besides, it ended up working out well. I went inside to wait because it was so hot outside that I couldn’t wait in the car. Then Trixie and I started talking, and she threw out that statement about ‘tacky art,’ which got me thinking about all the other clues.   Meadow finished chewing her muffin and said, “At least peace is restored in Dappled Hills again. And here we are eating breakfast together again, just like normal.”

“Except that Ramsay had to leave us,” said Wyatt.

Meadow waved her hand in the air. “Yes, but this part, getting Trixie booked and whatnot, won’t take as long as investigating murders. He’ll be back home later today, reading a book and sipping a glass of wine with Boris lying at his feet.”

Beatrice and Wyatt looked at each other.

“Actually, that sounds like an amazing idea,” said Beatrice slowly.

Wyatt said, “We could bring our own wine. And our own books.”

“And your own corgi!” said Meadow. “It’s a plan.”
