I took it from him. Slowly, I lifted the lid. Amelia’s necklace.
The black diamond eyes glistened as I rubbed my fingers along the pendant, as if they were trying to tell me of the dangers it had seen when she had still been wearing it. The chain was broken, as if it had been ripped off her neck.
I had once done this same thing with Tarun’s brother’s ring. He had sent me a message that only I would understand.
I fell to my knees, letting the box fall to the floor. My hands covered my eyes as I let out a howl of agony. The pain cut me deep through my heart. I felt like I was bleeding out on the floor.
I pulled my hands from my eyes and stared vacantly, my vision blurring as moisture rolled down my face. Nothing mattered anymore. She was dead, and now I was dead too.
Thank you so much for reading POWER! I had a great time creating Shyam and Amelia’s story. It was exciting for me to feature a heroine that worked in the tech field which is fairly male-dominated. I loved exploring each character and seeing how they developed at lovers and partners.
