Quests Volume One

"Unless we join the Genn," Myckim added. "They don't live far from here, and they helped us once already."
"Are there dwarves as well?" Sayla asked.
"There are both under the Central Massif," Winged Rakis answered. "But you don't want to live underground, do you?"
"No, I like sunshine. But I met such nice dwarves up north..."

Keenan noticed how Sayla was flushed with excitement in her father's presence. He felt awed at the sight of the two winged beings – he'd never seen a Sila from up close. He wondered if they'd allow him to study their wings, so he could give Sayla another pair.
The thought occurred to him that if there was a Sila who didn't really use her wings, they could cut them off and pass them to Sayla, but it didn't feel right. Even short-sighted, surely the Sila loved flying, so maiming her would mean killing her.
He wondered if he should talk to Winged Rakis about his daughter, ask him for her hand or something, but then he remembered what Sayla had said. Sila didn't marry, didn't need that piece of paper. If he told Winged Rakis that Sayla was his destiny, he'd have the Sila's blessing.
He liked the idea of a small, mixed village. He looked forward to meeting other members of the Magical Races who might help him with the construction of Sayla's wings.
He had heard the dwarves invented plenty of machinery, so he wouldn't have minded enlisting their help as well. Except apparently they didn't like Humans much, therefore he needed the intercession of the Sila or the Genn to actually make them listen to him.
As the day wore on, Keenan thought he should start taking notes. There were so many things to do... but then, he was barely twenty, he had a lifetime to accomplish them. And he knew Sayla would be with him every step of the way.

About the Author
Barbara G.Tarn had an intense life in the Middle Ages that stuck to her through the centuries. She prefers swords to guns, long gowns to mini-skirts, and even though she buried the warrior woman, she deplores the death of knights in shining chainmail. She likes to think her condo apartment is a medieval castle, unfortunately lacking a dungeon to throw noisy neighbors and naughty colleagues in. Also known as the Lady with the Unicorns, these days she prefers to add a touch of fantasy to all her stories, past and present – when she’s not wandering on her fantasy world of Silvery Earth or in her science fantasy Star Minds Universe. She dabbles into historical fantasy with her Vampires Through the Centuries series and has started post-apocalyptic/steampunk series called Future Earth Chronicles. She’s a writer, sometimes artist, mostly a world-creator and story-teller. Two of her stories received an Honorable Mention at the Writers of the Future contest and one was published in Pulphouse Magazine #5 (March 2019). She writes, draws, ignores her day job and blogs at: http://creativebarbwire.wordpress.com.

The Path of Fire
Raykim is bored. His strange looks mean nobody wants him. Sila fear him, Humans think he's a demon, Fajrulo don't care.
A young half-blood with blue hair and bat-like wings, pointed ears and yellow eyes, he has the power of Air and Fire. When he makes rain pour over a gladiator ring, something unexpected happens.
It's the beginning of a new life, finding friends, moving away from his birthplace and slowly – very slowly – growing up. The quest for Keneith's mother becomes a journey though life's highs and lows.
Throughout the whole continent, a story of coming of age and falling in love. And dragon cubs. A Silvery Earth short novel.
The Path of Earth
Keshav is a thirty-year-old scholar who has been touring the southern kingdom's libraries in search of knowledge. In Godwalkar he stumbles upon the Genn works and discovers the existence of the Magical Races that populated mostly the north. He decides to go looking for the lost Genn cities with the help of merchant Babita, who knows the way up to a certain point, and the protection of Rohan.
The merchant, the scholar and their bodyguard journey to the northern kingdoms springing up from the ashes of the Moren Empire. Their search might not be of just physical proof of the Genn, since all three have very good reasons to leave their hometowns.
