John Edgar Wideman was born in 1941 in Washington, D.C., and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His books include Writing to Save a Life, Philadelphia Fire, Brothers and Keepers, Fatheralong, Hoop Roots, and Sent for You Yesterday. He is a MacArthur Fellow, and has won the PEN/Faulkner Award twice and the National Book Critics Circle Award twice. He divides his time between New York and France.
Publications Submitted
Stories published in magazines distributed in North America are eligible for inclusion in The O. Henry Prize Stories. Stories must be written originally in the English language. No translations will be considered. Sections of novels are not considered. Editors are asked to send all stories published in each issue and not to nominate individual stories. Stories should not be submitted by writers or agents.
For fiction published online, the publication’s contact information and the date of the story’s publication must accompany the submissions.
Stories are considered from June 1 to June 1 the following year. Publications received after June 1 will automatically be considered for the next volume of The O. Henry Prize Stories.
