Five minutes later, I heard the lock on the front door click. He’s here! My heart soared. I was so nervous.

  “Hello?”

Ryan’s voice made my heart leap. God, I had missed him.

“Kate? Are you here?” he asked.

I remained quiet. Ryan’s footsteps drew closer. My heart raced. He appeared in the doorway to his bedroom. I stood on the other side of the room, completely naked.

“Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes, beautiful.” A slow smile spread across his face.

I smiled. Just the sight of him made my heart happy. Ryan walked slowly over to me, bent down, and kissed me. I opened for him as I always did. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

“I’ve missed you,” he said as he kissed my neck.

  “I’ve missed you too.”

  “This is quite the surprise.”

  “I know.”

Ryan continued his descent down my body. He took my breast in his mouth and feasted while massaging the other with his hand. I whimpered. He had a way of transporting me to another world. My body tingled beneath his touch. As he made his way down my stomach, he was merciless. I was slick with desire when he reached between my legs.

  “Mmmmm, always ready for me.”

“Always.” I panted, trembling with desire.

Ryan slid his tongue between my folds. I was near the edge, trying desperately to hold on.

“Don’t hold back, beautiful. I want to taste you.”

My climax came quickly, completely engulfing me. Spasms took over my body. Ryan kissed his way up to my mouth. He kissed me hard. The electricity between us was intense as he wrapped his arms around my hips and lifted me. I locked my legs around his waist as he walked us to his bed, our mouths never parting. This man did things to me I could have never imagined. He made me feel so wanted, so desired. I pulled his shirt out of his jeans and brought it over his head. He laid me down on the bed, unbuttoned his jeans, slid them off, and climbed on top of me. He was fully naked before me, his hard shaft ready for our communion.

  “Ryan…please.”

He claimed my mouth again, our tongues entwined in each others mouths. I arched my hips up to him. I desperately wanted him inside me.

  “Ready, beautiful?”

  “Yes, please.”

With that, he plunged deep inside me. Ryan claimed me each time he thrust into me. I was his, completely. I grabbed fistfuls of his hair as my body began to shudder beneath him. I couldn’t get enough of this man. The convulsions in my body were deep as they began to climb to the surface. Ryan was on the edge, too.

  “Come with me, beautiful.”

It was all I needed to come undone. We exploded together, rockets of desire shooting out from within us. Ryan kissed me gently.

“I’m so glad you’re here. I plan on keeping you in my bed for the night.” He smirked at me, “I plan on doing unspeakable things to you, beautiful.”

  Moisture pooled between my legs.

“I want you to do unspeakable things to me,” I said breathlessly.

Ryan flipped me over onto my stomach, took my arms, and placed them behind my back.

“Don’t move,” he whispered in my ear.

I felt Ryan get up from the bed, heard a drawer to his dresser open then close, and then felt the mattress move as he climbed back in. He took my hands and tied them behind my back—this time with silk, instead of rope. My breath hitched.

  “Okay?” he asked.

  “Yes.”

A blindfold went over my eyes. My body sizzled. I was completely aroused, yearning for him to touch me. Ryan helped me to my knees. There I was, blindfolded, hands tied, on my knees and completely at his mercy. He was behind me and slid two fingers down my bottom, then inserted them into my moisture. I moaned. Ryan knelt behind me, his breath heavy in my ear.

“You’re amazing, beautiful. I can’t get enough of you.”

I leaned my head back against Ryan’s chest. He removed his fingers and brought them to my mouth.

“Open,” he whispered. I did as he asked. Ryan inserted his fingers into my mouth. The taste of myself was arousing. I felt his hardness against my backside. He kissed his way down my shoulders, to my back, and then kissed the cheeks of my ass. His fingers slid down to the entrance of my ass. I flinched a little.

  “Relax.”

  “Ryan…” I moaned.

He made his way around to the front of me. Still kneeling, he took my knees in his hands and spread my legs wider apart. My arousal was palpable. Ryan inserted his fingers back inside me. I was ripe for him. He teased my breasts mercilessly with his tongue as he plunged his fingers deep within me. I was spellbound as he continued to torture me with his fingers.

I wanted so desperately to touch him, but my hands were tied. His lips brushed against mine. My lips parted, expecting him to kiss me. Instead, I felt his teeth on my nipple. He bit down slowly. I inhaled sharply. I was so close to coming undone. Ryan’s mouth made its way back to mine. and I kissed him hungrily. He untied my hands, and they immediately went to his face. I wanted to touch him, and my hands were frenzied. I raked them over his torso, then down to his hardness. Still blindfolded, I took possession of his hardness, but he moved me to my back.

Ryan removed my hand, then entered me quickly. He thrust deep within me. It was enough to send me over the edge, and I exploded. Convulsions ripped through my body. When it began to settle, Ryan turned me swiftly on all fours and entered me from behind. I could feel him building behind me. He reached around and played with my clit. Jesus, I was going to come again.

  “Come with me, beautiful.”

  I did.

We basked in each other, the candlelight flickering around us. Ryan turned me over and brought me to his chest. I lay across him, content.

“Can we stay here?” he asked.

“We could, except I’m starving. Susan went shopping for me and stocked the fridge so I could make you dinner.”

“Ahhhhh, so that’s how you got in here. My mom was your accomplice.”

I laughed. “She was all too willing to help.”

“I bet she was.” He laughed. “She loves a good surprise.”

“Yes, she went above and beyond. She was happy to see me.”

“I’m happy to see you, too.” He kissed my forehead.

“So let’s celebrate being together. I’ll pour us wine then make dinner,” I said as I unwound myself from his embrace. I got up and poured us each a glass. Handing him one, I lifted mine.

  “Cheers,” I said.

  “Cheers, beautiful.”

  He kissed me softly.

“Oh no you don’t.” I giggled. “I’m starving. You’re not going to have me again until I get something in my stomach.”

I took my wine, walked to the kitchen, and started putting dinner together. Ryan walked in shortly after.

“I could get used to this,” he said as his eyes drank me in.

I was in the kitchen in my underwear and his t-shirt, my glass of wine on the counter, prepping our dinner. It all felt so natural.

“I bet you could. Why don’t you come around and help me?”

Ryan came around the counter, kissed me, and then got to work. We prepped, sipped wine, and laughed. Being in Ryan’s presence was intoxicating. We worked easily together. Dinner was wonderful, the conversation even better. We sat at the island counter, talking and catching up. We talked about our busy holiday season, the kids being home, our businesses, and everything else under the sun.

He had enjoyed his time with Emily over her break when she came home to Beaufort. He was thrilled he didn’t have to travel to New York this year. As much as he hated her being so far away, he was proud of her. I knew exactly what he meant. I hated the kids being so far away as well, but knew it was their time to spread their wings. We both agreed parenting was a yo-yo of emotions, but well worth it.

After dinner, we made our way to the outside deck. It was cold, but I wan
ted to look out over the river. Ryan stood behind me with his arms wrapped around me.

  “This is nice,” he said.

“It is. I didn’t realize how much I had missed this place.”

“It has a certain charm to it, doesn’t it?”

  “It does. It feels homey.”

“You feel homey,” he said as he kissed the top of my head.

  “So do you,” I whispered.

We stood there for a long time, taking in the view, content in our embrace.

Ryan’s mouth found its way to the back of my neck.

“You have a full stomach,” he murmured.

  “I do, don’t I?”

“You do. So that means I get to have my way with you again.”

  “It does,” I said breathlessly.

Ryan turned me to him, took my mouth in his ever so gently.

As always, I became lost in his touch. We stood there kissing, the lights from the riverwalk reflecting off of the water.

“So, beautiful, how long do I have you for?”

  “Forever.”

“You have my heart forever, too, beautiful. But seriously, how long do I have you for? I want to change my schedule at work so I can spend time with you while you’re here.”

  “I told you, forever.”

I looked him squarely in the eye.

“Kate, please be serious for a moment.”

“Okay, I’ll be serious,” I said as I took his face in my hands. Looking him in the eye, I said, “you have me forever, Ryan. I’m here for good, if you’ll have me. I packed up my place, put everything into storage, have Jillian running Captured for me, and I’m here. Forever.”

The look on his face was more than I anticipated. Sheer joy spread across his face. His eyes sparkled.

  “You’re serious, aren’t you?”

“Very. My kids practically shoved me out the door. They were ecstatic when I told them. I’m all yours.”

Ryan picked me up and spun me around, both of us laughing.

  “I can’t believe it.”

“Believe it. My life is with you, Ryan. It all became so clear at a wedding I was shooting a few weeks ago. I want nothing more than to be with you.”

He leaned down, kissed me, and wound his arms around my neck. The kiss was long and passionate, building in intensity, both of us euphoric, knowing we’d never have to say goodbye again. No more goodbyes, no more pain, no more ache. There was only us. Ryan tore his mouth from mine and stepped back, looking at me in the eyes.

  “Are you sure, beautiful?”

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life, Ryan. My life is nothing without you.”

He pulled me close. Tears welled in my eyes and streamed down my cheeks, but for once, they were happy tears.

“Hey, I thought this was a happy moment. Why are you crying?” he asked.

“They’re happy tears.” I smiled up at him. “I love you, Ryan. You have my whole heart. You’ve brought me back to life. You’ve found pieces of me I didn’t even know existed. Thank you for waiting for me. Thank you for loving me like you do. Thank you for making me feel wanted.”

“I love you too, beautiful. I told you I would wait for you forever, I’m just glad I didn’t have to.”
