“If our masses leave reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, Remember Us will be an international bestseller for sure,” Reese announced from the porch.
Ben rubbed his hands together. “We could be the next Jodi Picoult.”
“Or Danielle Steele.” Bernice fluffed her blonde curls and Reese rolled her eyes as Rocky barked in agreement.
“Ernie and I could do a bus tour all over the country,” Carl called as he wiped the wheels. “I’ll throw a speaker on the roof and read out loud as I drive.”
“But sugar, what about my cookbook?” Bernice demanded, braceleted hands high on her hips. “The one where I’m the star?”
“Mom, I’ve told you before—there are already too many writers in this book. Dad wrote in a notebook, I kept a journal, Blake became a published author.” Reese patted her on the head. “Besides, if we want Remember Us to make it, we can’t divide our energy, and we need our people to rate us on every possible platform.”
“‘Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.’” Ben sipped his beer with a nod.
“Well, then.” Bernice spritzed wisteria in Reese’s face and huffed away. “Take us to the top, baby—this is our time to shine.”
