“Hold on. AMANDA!” she yelled with her hand covering the phone. I wasn’t thinking when the receptionist said Amanda. There were a lot of Amandas walking around. The broad I went to school with was coming out of her office with a smile on her face. When she noticed who I was her smile disappeared. She looked pissed off and turned on at the same time.

“Hello, how I can I help you?” she asked. The broad’s eyes went from my chest, to my arms then to my dick. She was still desperate for some black dick.

“My brother lives in building J number two. I need to check up on him since he’s sick. His car is parked outside so I know he’s in the crib.”

“Come to my office. I need to see who is on his list of emergency contacts,” she said. I followed her to her office which smelled like cigarette smoke. Amanda sat across from me with her arms crossed. She looked older than her age; she had the face of a thirty-five-year-old. It had to be because of the drugs she might be on. She had bags under her eyes, a smoker’s voice and very pale skin. She used to have a tan in school. Amanda’s hair was thin and stringy and her nail polish was chipped.

“I’m not happy to see you since you ruined my life. Do you know everyone hated me? Our lives were miserable and many of us got turned down by the best colleges your family couldn’t afford. I hope Deerie dies for what she did for you!” Amanda said.

“Bruh, nobody gives a fuck about your life! His name is Quyntrell Christianson.” She logged into her computer with an attitude. While she was working, I looked at the pictures on her wall. There were a lot of recent pictures of her and Jonna. Amanda was in one picture with Jasma. I remember them being the popular girls of our school, now they were looking like Jim Cary and Terry Wiser from Weekend at Bernie’s. Jonna looked high in one picture and Jasma had a hole in her shirt with a smile on her face. I wondered if Jasma missed her mother.

“What’s up with Jonna?” I asked Amanda.

“Homeless. They were behind on their rent. You could’ve at least helped her,” she replied.

“Naw, a woman isn’t supposed to be strugglin’ with a man in her house.”

“You’re not on his contact list therefore I cannot give you his house key. Now get out!” she said.

“See you around on the streets.”

I left out the rental office and went back to Trell’s building. This time his car was gone. He ignored my call when I called him. I gave up and sent him a message that said, I know you hurtin’ right now, but we can put all the other BS aside to talk about it. I’m here for you regardless!

I left Trell’s neighborhood to pick up Jasma.

  ************

Jasma was sitting on the floor of Tierra’s crib playing with toys when I walked in. She wasn’t calling me “Daddy” yet, but I was cool with it. I picked her up to give her a kiss on the cheek. She wiped it off as she always does. I noticed over the time I had her, she was more comfortable with women. She wanted to get down, so I put her down. I went into the kitchen and Tierra was making Salisbury steak and rice for Jasma. I sat at the kitchen island defeated.

“What y’all do today?” I asked Tierra.

“Play with dolls and watch cartoons. She’s a good baby,” she replied. Tierra walked around the island to give me a kiss on the face. She was looking a little youthful. She wore her hair in a ponytail and she was bare faced wearing only lip gloss.

“Want to talk?” she asked. I pulled her in for a hug and she blushed.

“Now you want to hug me?” she asked.

  “Yeah, cause you look good.”

“I look good every day,” she said. She backed away from me to get back to the stove.

  “You talked to Trell?”

“No, he’s not answering his phone. Trell gets like that when he’s down. He’ll come around. Dinner is ready,” she said. She went into the living room to get Jasma. Tierra’s house was safe since she wasn’t keeping my bricks in there anymore. She also bought Jasma a lot of things to make her feel comfortable. Tierra placed Jasma in my lap when she came back into the kitchen.

“That’s your father so be good,” Tierra said to Jasma. I noticed Jasma’s hair needed to be re-done. Dream was the only who could do her hair nicely.

“I’m gonna be honest, Tee. I need a mother figure for Jasma. I ran into someone from my old school and she told me Jonna is homeless. She’s down bad, bruh. Deerie is goin’ back to school soon and Kimberly ain’t a good babysitter.”

“Just come out and ask me. I can keep Jasma while you take care of your business,” she said.

“I appreciate you. I gotta take care of somethin’ but I’ll be back.”

“I’ll put your plate in the microwave,” she said.

I put Jasma in the chair next to mine when Tierra gave her a small plate of cut-up food.

“Bye, Tryst,” Jasma said on my way out of the kitchen.

  “See you later, baby girl.”

“Call me soon,” Tierra shouted out.

  “Bet!”

I was out the house in seconds. Dream probably didn’t want to see me but we had to talk about the baby and how it was going to be if the baby belonged to me.

  Newtowne…

Dream’s car was in the parking lot when I pulled up to her building. I grabbed a gun from underneath my seat. Dream’s building was crowded with the same people. I got out the car, and niggas and bitches were looking at me. Nobody fucked with me, but that nigga Rizzo had a personal beef with me.

“What’s up, Young Chrome?” David’s homeboy asked.

“Shit, just chillin’. What’s up witchu?”

  “Just livin’,” he said.

I told him I was going to holla at him later before I walked up the sidewalk. The shorty Dream didn’t like was sitting on the steps with her friends. Latasha stood up when she saw me. Shorty had a nice body with a gap between her legs. She was too thirsty, though, and she made it known, too.

“Can you run me to the store really quick?” Latasha asked.

“You got gas money, shorty?” I replied.

“Cheap ass,” she mumbled when she sat back down.

“Can you call me tonight?” a pretty light-skinned girl asked me. She was slim with a curly bob. Shorty was actually the cleanest looking one out of all of them.

I have to catch her another time. Dream might be lookin’ out the window. I’m not that type of dude.

“I’ll see you around,” I replied.

“Of course he goes for the pretty hair light-skinned one,” Latasha said.

“Dream darker than all of us. Maybe he just doesn’t want you,” the light-skinned shorty replied.

“What’s your name?” I asked her.

  “Nicki,” she replied.

“We’ll run into each other again.”

“Get your ass up here, Tryst!” Dream called out. She was standing by her door with an attitude.

“Ummmm,” Latasha and her friends said when I walked up the steps. Dream was glowing. She was wearing gray leggings with a white cami. Her sweet perfume reached me before I reached her.

“Why you embarrass me like that?” I asked.

  “Why are you here?”

“Can you let me in?” I replied.

Dream moved to the side to let me in. She locked the door behind her. I had my mind made up about her before I came to her crib but it was harder than I thought to get over her.

“Go ahead, Tryst. Cuss me out, belittle me and act a fool like you’ve been doin’ because I’m not for that shit today,” she said.

“I’m not goin’ to do all of that. All I want to know, with all jokes aside, is if that is my baby. I got so much shit on my plate, Yomi. My grandfather is sick and soon, I’ll have to be in charge of all of his businesses. All I’m askin’ is if that’s my baby or not. You can even tell me if you’re not sure. Tell me the truth so that I can have one less thing to worry about.”

“You are the father and I know that for a fact. I promise you that I’m not lyin’ about that. Now that you
know the truth, I think you should get out of my apartment,” she said.

  “It’s like that now, huh?”

“You put your hands on me and disrespected me. You think we’re cool now?” she asked.

“I was out of line for that and it won’t happen again.”

“This is the shit I’m talkin’ about!” she said and jumped up.

  “What?”

“This whole nice act you’re runnin’ on me when I know in a second you’re goin’ to call me a hoe-ass bitch!” she said.

“I’m out, bruh. You just want to argue when I’m not on that shit anymore.”

“Then get the hell out,” she said.

I placed two stacks of money on Dream’s coffee table. She had a record, finding a job would be hard for her. I couldn’t watch her struggling regardless of us not being together.

“I don’t need your money,” she said.

“It’s for you to be comfortable until the baby comes. I want to be a part of this since I know the truth.”

“I want you to be a part of it, too,” she said.

On the coffee table was Naya’s obituary. I picked it up to look through it. Dream didn’t have any pictures up of her mother on the wall anymore. Her mother looked familiar as I stared at the picture in the obituary of Naya and Dream on her lap. Maybe my mind was tripping but I’d seen her mother somewhere.

“What’s your mother’s name?” I asked, going through the pictures.

  “Willow,” Dream replied.

Willow left her daughters, so she could live the high life with my grandfather.

I couldn’t tell Dream about her mother since she had a lot on her plate, too.

“You look like your father?” I asked.

“Yes, me and Naya but better of course,” she replied.

“Hopefully I’ll meet them tomorrow at the funeral.”

“I don’t have any parents,” she replied.

I pulled Dream close to me and she rested her head my shoulder.

“I’m cool as long as we can be best friends again and you don’t talk to those bitches outside on the steps,” Dream said.

“I can do that. Adrian still fuckin’ witchu?”

“He’s been quiet lately,” she said.

I was ready to get angry again, so I told Dream I had to leave. She walked me to the door, but I didn’t want to leave. I knew it was best if I did so I wouldn’t give her the wrong idea. Plus, it was almost Jasma’s bedtime and I had to tuck her in.

  “Where is Jasma?” Dream asked.

  “Wit’ Tierra.”

“She couldn’t wait to play step-mommy with her old desperate ass. I hate that woman, Tryst. My child will not be goin’ around her and I’m lettin’ you know that now. I bet you couldn’t wait to fuck her old ass, could you?” she asked.

  “See you tomorrow.”

  “Whatever,” she replied.

She slammed the door after I left out of the apartment. On my way to the car, I saw J-Breezy.

“Yo, Tryst, wait up!” he called out.

“What’s good witchu?” I asked when he walked over to the car.

“You gotta get up wit’ Trell. That nigga gettin’ high with Kabella. He’s gone, bruh,” J-Breezy said.

“I’m going to have his aunt see about him because she can get through to him.”

  “No doubt,” he said.

“Yo, word around the street is June Bug is workin’ for a new connect. I know you think Trell stole from you, but he told me why he did it. June Bug told him he could make way more than what you were gettin’ off it. You have to see about that nigga,” he said.

“Get up wit’ me after Naya’s funeral. We can talk privately afterwards.”

  “Bet,” he said.

We pounded fists then he walked off. Now I had another issue. A new connect in the city was bad for business. I left out of Newtowne thinking of ways to solve my problems.

I went back to Tierra’s crib. She was sitting in the living room with a glass of wine when I walked in.

  “Where’s Jasma?”

“She’s in bed. Dinner put her straight to sleep,” Tierra replied.

I took off my shoes to get comfortable. The day had put a heavy weight on my shoulders; I was exhausted.

“You went to see Dream?” she asked.

  “Yeah, is that a problem?”

“But you don’t know if her baby belongs to you,” she said.

“I believed her today. Besides, that’s none of your business since you’re not the one who will be dealin’ wit’ it.”

“I guess you still love her,” she said with an attitude.

“Why wouldn’t I still love her? Feelings don’t change overnight Besides, I gotta deal with her for life.”

“Are you gettin’ back with her?” Tierra asked.

“I’m stayin’ single for as long as I can. Relationships ain’t on my mind right now.”

Tierra shrugged her shoulders, she wasn’t trying to hear any of that. But I wasn’t the type to hide my feelings. She picked up her remote to flick through the channels on the TV. Tierra was fresh out the shower. Her legs were oiled, and she was wearing short pajama shorts with a lace bra. I knew she wanted to give me the pussy, I’d been knowing that for months. After seeing Dream and the way her clothes hugged her, I needed some pussy. I told her to sit closer to me; I must’ve caught her off guard because she looked at me crazy.

“This isn’t a game is it?” she asked.

“Naw, you’ve been throwin’ it at me for a while. Go ahead, do what you have to do.”

Tierra sat her wine glass down and she straddled my lap after she took off her bra. Her breasts weren’t as perky as Dream’s, but they were still succulent. I was curious as to how I could please an older woman. She was like thirteen years older than me. She took off her shorts and her pussy wasn’t completely waxed. She had a landing strip. I pulled a box of condoms out of my pocket.

“I don’t want you to do to anything,” she said. I took off my shirt and she pulled my pants and boxers down to my knees. She got on the floor to bless my dick with her mouth. I watched her as she wrapped her lips around the tip. She took me all in when she deep throated. I couldn’t keep still and let her suck me good like that. She was moaning loudly, proudly coming off her own talent. Shorty’s head was crucial. As good as it felt, I could only think of Dream. I hated that shit! It was a sign of weakness to love a woman like that, but I’d never let her see it. Tierra took a condom out the box to put it on me. After she got it situated, she lowered herself on my erection. Tierra was too tight but moist. I wanted to drown inside her. She bounced on my dick, jerking her body back and forth.

“WAIT, BRUH, DAMN! HOLD ON!” I shouted. She slowed down, giving me the “what I do face.”

  “What happened?” she asked.

“When was the last time you had sex? Cause, shorty, I’m confused right now.”

“It’s been two years,” she panted.

“Mannnn, you had me thinkin’ I was fittin’ to get loose. Look, just fuck me like you’re ridin’ a bike or somethin’.”

“You mean fuck you like how Dream was fuckin’ you? I’m over it!” she said. Tierra she was embarrassed but so was I. I didn’t mean to make her feel that way, but she talked so much shit and couldn’t back it up.

“I never could please a man. Not even a young one,” she said.

And Dream’s hot ass was pleasin’ a nigga old enough to be her father. That’s why that nigga is crazy over her. Shidddd, I’m crazy over that shit, too.

“We took it this far we might as well finish. Lay down.” I could’ve eaten her out to get her soaking wet, but I couldn’t do it. Tierra could’ve been lying about not having sex in a minute. I wasn’t trusting none of it.

  “I’m tired,” she lied.

I pulled her underneath me, wrapping her legs around my waist. Since I made her feel bad I had to make it up to her. I kissed on her neck while I was entering her. From her neck I went to her breas
t, pulling her nipple between my lips. She moaned in my ear when I slid further into her. My thrust was deep and slow. I reached the back of her pussy and she burst. Her wetness was pushing me out of her. I pulled her hair, applying more pressure on her neck. She was fucking me back in the same motion I was giving her. She wasn’t a gripper which was sometimes a good thing because I could maneuver the way I wanted. I must’ve hit her spot because her pussy gushed on my pelvic area. She was too loud, so I covered her mouth so Jasma wouldn’t hear us. I pushed her legs up, with her knees touching the arm of the couch, so I could watch her coat my dick. I pulled out of her to rub my dick against her throbbing clit. Tierra was dripping on the couch. Once she began to squirm, I went back inside her. I fucked her into the couch. Her mouth was gaped open and her eyes were fluttering like she was possessed. She had just come but I made her come again right afterwards. Tierra squirted a little.

“UMPPPPHHHHHH!” I grunted, filling up the condom. I pulled out of her, so she could sit up. Her hair was all over the place and she had red marks on her neck. I got up to shower. Tierra was still on the couch because her legs were shaking.

“I know you ain’t gonna let a young nigga show out on you like that, Tee,” I joked.

  “Shut up!” she laughed.

“Come on, shorty. I’ll help you the stairs.”

“Get out of my face, Tryst,” she replied.

I grabbed her off the couch and threw her over my shoulder. She wanted me to put her down.

“Put me down, muthafucka,” she said.

I took her to the shower in the master bedroom.

“Talked all that shit, Tee. You were even wearin’ short and tight clothes around me like you knew what to do wit’ it.”

Tierra stood up from the toilet seat. There was blood where she was sitting. I was stuck for minute, hoping she was a virgin.

“I wasn’t a virgin. My cycle came on,” she said. I turned the shower on for her, but I changed my mind about getting in with her. Dream was the only shorty I took period showers with. I wasn’t allowing myself to fall for another broad. I grabbed a towel to wrap around my lower body before I left out of the bathroom. Jasma was asleep when I pushed the bedroom door open. She was sleeping between pink Barbie sheets. I was patiently waiting on building a bond with Jasma. I had to do something to make her trust me.
