  She nodded. “I think…I think I’m ready.”

  “Are you sure? So soon?”

  She laughed. “Well, I’m going to be working on this book for a little bit. So once it’s done, I think I’ll be ready. Will you be?”

  I held her face in my hands. “Fi, I think I was ready the day we got married.”

  She shook her head at me and scoffed. “Bullshit!”

  I grinned at her and put my hand on her flat stomach. “Okay, pub this romance book, and then we’ll talk about making a baby again.”

  “A cute one!”

  “We’re gonna have the cutest baby. But when you’re ready, sweetheart. Right now, I just want you all to myself.”

  She melted into me, and I kissed her gently, happy that finally, our marriage was no longer in the trial phase.
