Deceitful Hearts

“I love you too, baby.” Kara kissed his lips and went back to the stove.
“Plus TP got ya boy feeling some type of way.”
Kara looked over her shoulder and blew Tone a kiss. Just like that, his world was complete.

Ollie sat between Phoenix’s legs as they watched Netflix. They were laid back on the sofa cuddled together when they heard the door open. Tone walked in with an unreadable look on his face. Ollie thought about moving but changed his mind. He and Phoenix were grown. They had their little thing going on, so Tone could either get with it, or not. Apparently Phoenix was feeling the same way he was because she tightened her legs around his waist.
“Y’all two niggas need to make up y’all minds.”
“What you talking about, brother?” Phoenix asked sweetly.
“One minute y’all trying to hide the shit and the next y’all laid up on the couch like an old ass married couple. Get that shit together.”
Ollie and Phoenix laughed as they watched Tone retreat up the stairs leading to the boy’s side of the house. When he was out of sight, Phoenix went back to licking on Ollie’s neck. She had been trying to seduce him since they’d been watching TV.
“Move, I’m still mad at you for running through Aaliyah like that.”
“Are you serious right now?”
“Hell yeah I’m serious.”
“This is why I can’t take you serious. You stay talking about you love me, but you mad about another female.”
“It’s not about me loving you. Aaliyah and I just have history. She was rocking with me when I ain’t have shit. I’m not gon’ dirt her just because I’ve moved on. That shit ain’t right Phoenix and you know it.”
“If I remember correctly, I’ve been rocking with you since you ain’t have nothing either, but I guess that don’t matter since you and her got history.” Phoenix scooted back so she could stand up, but he grabbed her legs and held her still.
He turned around and started tickling her. She fell into a fit of giggles as his fingers probed her body in all the sensitive spots. Once he finally stopped, she tried to catch her breath.
“You want to see how real my feelings are?”
“Yep.”
“Come take a ride with me and I’ll show it to you.”
Phoenix hopped up and ran to her room. While she was gone, he pulled his phone from his pocket and checked his missed alerts. He had two missed calls and two text messages. Both calls were from Aaliyah and so was one of the text. The other text message was from Tek.
Aaliyah: I need to see you
Tek: Still hitting the game tonight?
Ollie had forgotten all about the basketball game. It was the summer time, so midnight league was in full effect. The rec center was definitely the move. He texted Tek back, letting him know they were going and slid his phone back into his pocket. He would get with Aaliyah after they left the game and he’d dropped Phoenix back off at home.
Ollie smelled Phoenix’s perfume before he even looked up. When he did, she was standing there smiling. He smiled back and pulled her out the door. After he helped her into the passenger seat of his Bentley and closed the door, he joined her in the car, pulled out, and headed for their destination. When he pulled his car to a stop he looked at Phoenix out of the corner of his eye so he could gauge her reaction. Her face was expressionless for a minute before it broke out into a huge smile.
She turned to him at the same time he turned all the way around to look at her.
“I know you’re not about to do what I think you are.”
“I’m finna tat your name on me so you know it’s real.” Ollie kissed her cheek before hopping out to open her door.
Inside the parlor they were greeted by a tall brown haired chick with tattoos filling both of her arms and both sides of her head where she had shaved her hair. She helped them pick out the right font once Ollie told her what he was getting. She showed them to a room in the back and left them there to wait on their tattoo artist.
“You are so crazy Oliver,”
“No I’m not. I just love your ass and I want to show you how much.”
“I love you too, babe.” She kissed his lips just as the door opened.
The tattoo artist smiled at Phoenix as he took his seat on the chair. “So what we getting?”
Ollie grabbed the stencil off the counter and handed it to the man. “I want you to tattoo this right here on my heart so she’ll know it belongs to her.”
Phoenix held her head down to hide how hard she was blushing. Ollie was showing out.
“Hold your head up, beautiful. I want to look at you.” Ollie’s voice was deep and soothing.
Ollie held Phoenix’s hand the entire time he got tattooed. The whole thing took about thirty minutes. Phoenix was smiling so hard her cheeks were hurting. The cursive writing was large and dark. Phoenix, was written so elegantly across the left side of his chest where his heart was. Phoenix was so hype, she’d even decided to get his name. She got Oliver right beneath the strap of her bra, along her rib cage. Phoenix felt high as she and Ollie rode home.
Time passed, and the day was coming to an end. The Zoo Crew, plus Kara had just pulled up to the rec center and parked. They all exited and headed for the door with Phoenix and Kara leading the way. They were both dressed in shorts and cute tops with wedge sandals. Phoenix had washed her hair, so her curls were popping. She’d pushed it back with a band and put on a pair of big gold earrings. Kara’s outfit was similar and her hair was flat ironed bone straight with a part down the middle.
Tonight would be the first time anybody else would be seen with them. Normally they didn’t associate with anybody outside of each other, but Kara had become family. She was with Tone, so she was with them. Phoenix was actually happy to have another female with her. The best part of it all was that Kara was bad. She complimented the group well. Phoenix looked at her as she walked alongside her. Her dark skin was so smooth and pretty.
“My bitch bad, looking like a bag of money up in this thang,” Phoenix screamed as she linked her arm through Kara’s.
“I had to keep my shit tight, stepping out next to you baby,” Kara responded.
Tek walked between the two women. “Can y’all cut this shit out? Because don’t neither one of y’all look all that. I’m just saying.”
Kara and Phoenix both slapped Tek upside his head. He laughed as they finally reached the door. Kara could feel her heart beating faster as they neared the entrance. Tone had just paid for all of their entry and was headed to the gym door. Never in her life had she been this nervous. She was rolling with one of the most notorious groups in the city. Was she hard enough to be rolling with these people? She was so busy questioning herself that she hadn’t noticed they were already standing in the doorway of the gymnasium.
“Chocolate drop, come on baby.” Tone’s hand was stretched out toward her.
She grabbed it, and he pulled her up to where he was.
“You changed your mind about being seen with me?” Tone whispered in her ear.
“No, baby, of course not. I’m just a little nervous about being with y’all.”
Tone laughed. “It’s cool. Ain’t nobody fucking with you. Not as long as you with me.”
“What if some of your old hoes see me and get jealous?”
“Them bitches can’t see you. Just chill, baby.”
Kara nodded and held her head up high. As they walked past, certain parts of the gym got quiet. She couldn’t believe how much power they had over people. All eyes were on them. The feeling was exhilarating. To be on Tone’s arm was an experience all in itself. Women were rolling their eyes at her as she walked past, so she made sure to ice grill their ass right back. If she was going to be with Tone, then she needed to make sure she was ready to match his fly.
When they got to the bleachers, Ollie and Phoenix sat down first and they followed. Tek, Zino, and Bear all sat on the bench behind them. Tone wrapped his arm around her w
aist and pulled her in closer to him. He kissed the side of her neck when she was close enough. Aside from actually being associated with the crew, Kara was going to have to get accustomed to being Tone’s girl because clearly he didn’t mind showing her off. His hand had been on her in some kind of way since they’d gotten into the building.
“Hey, mama, you good?” Phoenix leaned over Ollie’s lap and asked her.
“Yeah, boo, I’m straight. I feel like royalty.”
“You are royalty when you with the Zoo.” Tone winked at her.
Kara and Phoenix both rolled their eyes.
“Kara, I got to pee. Come with me.” Phoenix stood up so they could walk to the restrooms.
They slid past people as they made their way through the crowded gym. Once they finally reached the restrooms, it only got worse. The mirrors were packed with girls checking their make-up and hair. Phoenix already knew her shit was tight, so she didn’t need to do all of that. She walked through all of them and went straight to the stalls. Kara was right behind her. A few girls rolled their eyes or sucked their teeth as they walked past.
“You must have a problem?” Kara asked the light skinned chick that was leaning on the wall.
“You’re the one with the problem if you think Tone is being faithful to your knock off Kelly Rowland looking ass.”
Kara laughed as she looked the girl up and down. “Sweetie, go somewhere and die. Tone being faithful is the least of my worries. His ass knows where it’s good at it, so believe me when I tell you, I ain’t thinking about your ass, and neither is he.”
“We’ll see about that.”
“I guess we will.” Kara smiled and turned back toward the stall to wait on Phoenix. When she came out she fixed her shirt before digging into her purse and removing her chrome .38. She placed the heavy looking gun to the side of the girl’s head.
Phoenix looked her straight in the eye. “Do we have a problem?”
The girl shook her head frantically. “No, we’re good.”
“That’s what I thought. Y’all bitches better respect my sis before I start popping y’all hoes.” Phoenix looked around at everybody in the restroom.
They all looked like they’d been caught in a scary movie. She pulled her gun away and stuck it back in her purse. After she washed her hands, they exited the packed bathroom and headed down the hall toward the gym, not even bothering to watch their backs.
“I see why people be scared of your little ass now. You sound like a mob wife or something.” Kara and Phoenix burst out laughing.
“I know your ass ain’t just say no damn mob wife?” Phoenix was laughing so hard she had to hold her stomach.
She was leaning over when she felt someone behind her. When she stood up, her butt bumped into him. The smell of his cologne took over her nostrils as it always did. As bad as she wanted to play hard, she couldn’t. She missed him.
“Jamar, why are you all up on me?”
He wrapped his arms around her neck and inhaled her hair while Kara looked on. “I miss you, pretty lady.”
“I can tell by the way you’ve been blowing up my phone.”
“Why won’t you answer for me then?”
“Because I’m trying to get over you.” Phoenix stepped out of his grasp and turned around so she could see him. His fine ass had the nerve to be smiling at her. She could barely hold her smile in, and he knew it.
“I’m not about to let that happen. Come chill with me tonight.”
Kara cleared her throat and gave Phoenix an excuse not to answer Jamar’s question. Phoenix stepped back and pulled Kara to her.
“Jamar, this is my friend Kara. Kara this is Jamar. He’s a guy I used to like but he fucked me like a dog and now he wants to make up.”
“Noooo, not like a dog, Phoenix.”
“Yes, girl! He fucked me so rough I felt like a ragdoll or something.”
Kara and Phoenix laughed and made fun of the situation like Jamar wasn’t standing there.
“Stop that shit, Phoenix, and let me make it up to you tonight.”
“I’ll think about it, Jamar.” Phoenix winked and she and Kara continued on their way.
When they returned to their seats the boys were all hyped up from the game. Being that they weren’t really into it, they sat back and observed the crowd. Kara saw a few familiar faces, but none she cared to acknowledge. She was enjoying the moment too much. The game lasted for a few hours, and by the time it was over, she was past ready to go. Her feet were hurting and she was sleepy.
Tone held her hand as they walked to the car, while Ollie and Phoenix cuddled against one another. They were the cutest thing. Kara thought it was really sweet how they all looked out for Phoenix. She was like all of their baby. In a way this came natural to her because she’d always felt somewhat protective of Phoenix. From the moment she started working at the bar, she made a point to keep an eye on her. Although Phoenix could handle herself.
“TP feel like putting in some work tonight?”
“TP always feel like putting in work for daddy.”
Tone licked the side of her neck as he pressed her against the car with his body. “What you want me to do to you first?”
Kara and Tone were truly made for each other. They were both nasty as hell. He liked to hear nasty shit and she liked to say it.
“I want you to lick me until I cum.”
“Ah, fuck. Let me get a quick taste to get me home.”
“It’s yours, daddy. Get it.”
Kara scooted back some so he could slide his hands down the front of her shorts without anyone seeing them. The rest of the crew were on the opposite side of the truck laughing and talking. Nobody was even paying them any attention. Tone unbuttoned her shorts and stuck his hand in her panties. His fingers went further until they were soaked in her sticky wet juices. He rubbed around in it for a minute before pulling his fingers back out and sticking them directly into his mouth and sucking them real hard. Kara smiled at his silliness and turned around to face him. His lips crashed down onto hers before she had a chance to say anything.
“We getting nasty tonight. Wait until I get you home.” Tone winked and helped her into the car. The rest of the crew followed their lead and they all left.
Chapter 12
Jamar stood across the parking lot watching Phoenix interact lovingly with one of the men she called her brother. He felt like a sucker. She had been playing him like a fool since they’d met. He had two sisters, and never in his life had he hugged or kissed them the way he was watching Phoenix do hers. In the back of his mind he had known it had to be someone else because she quit him with no warning and hadn’t looked back since.
Moving his feet toward them and snatching her from the man was what he wanted to do, but he chose not to. That wouldn’t make any sense, and definitely wouldn’t be the smartest choice he’d ever made. His eyes shifted from them over to his cousin, who’d just walked up to the back of his car. He looked in the direction that Jamar was just looking in and smiled.
“You trying to fuck with that tonight?” he asked, referring to the Zoo Crew.
Jamar scrunched his face up. “Boy, hell nah. I ain’t with that shit tonight. I’m trying to slide on the lil chick they always have with them.”
“That little smart mouth bitch think she’s hard. Don’t fuck with her, cuz I’m marking that bitch right along with her crew. Shit, I might even let my boys run through her skinny ass before I end her shit.”
This got Jamar’s attention and although he wanted to say something to defend Phoenix, he couldn’t blow his cover. The moment he showed signs of attachment they were going to kill her faster. He would get at Phoenix on his own time. Right now, he needed to play along.
“Nigga just make sure I bust first. I ain’t fucking behind all y’all young ass niggas,”
His cousin laughed like that was the funniest thing he’d ever heard.
“I’m serious, nigga.” Jamar dapped him up. “I’ ma holla at you though. Got some
pussy I need to hit before I head to the house.”
Jamar hopped in his car and sped off. An unnerving thought popped into his head that his cousin might try some shit with the crew without him, but that went away as fast as it came. His cousin was a lot of stuff, but a fool wasn’t one. Knowing that nigga, he probably had some plan schemed up already and just hadn’t acted on it yet.
Jamar slowed his car to a stop at the gas station to grab a Gatorade and some Doritos before going home. The gas station was packed with people, obviously from the basketball game. He kept watch of the people around him as he grabbed the things he’d come to get. The Doritos in hand, Jamar reached for a box of Lemonheads when two loud voices caught his attention. Both were feminine, but one was a tad bit higher. He knew it. That voice. It belonged to the one person who had him off his square.
Phoenix and the sexy chocolate sister he’d seen her with earlier were laughing at something as they walked through the door. Jamar turned his back and walked around the back of the aisle headed to the cooler to grab his drink. He grabbed his drink and looked over his shoulder to find them standing a little further down on the same aisle.
He walked quietly up behind her, being spotted by her friend first. He placed his finger up to his lip pleading with her to be quiet. She obliged so he was able to wrap his arms around Phoenix’s waist and suck on her neck before she even turned around. He licked and sucked in one spot until he felt her breathing pick up. Her small body pressed against him as she released a soft moan.
“You want me to beat your lil pretty ass don’t you?”
“What I do?”
“Every time I walk up on you from behind you let me do shit like this,” Jamar pushed his semi-erect dick into her lower back. “Or shit like this,” He kissed her neck again, this time biting it softly. “I could be anybody.”
Phoenix melted into his touch. “I always know it’s you, Jamar.”
