Deceitful Hearts Page 23

She watched him go back to rubbing her feet again once he’d kissed up both sides of her legs. Phoenix cold feel her breathing beginning to pick up when she watched him move his hand from her feet up to the small area of exposed skin on her stomach. His large hand ducked beneath the shirt and rubbed across her soft skin. Phoenix watched him as he rubbed her body.

“You believe that I’d protect you?” he asked her. His voice sounded a lot more hoarse than it had before.

  Phoenix nodded.

“Good.” He held her leg up from his lap as he scooted closer to her on the sofa. Now the back of her thigh was resting across his lap.

Once he was settled he went back to massaging various parts of her body. Phoenix could hardly stand it. She didn’t know whether they were still doing the friend thing or what at that moment, but all she knew was that she wanted him. It had been months since she’d been touched so intimately, and it felt so good she could hardly control herself.

When the pads of his thumbs circled the inside of her thigh applying pressure just below where she really wanted him to touch, Phoenix gasped. Her chest rose and her back arched as well. She looked at Jamison when she heard him groan quietly. Phoenix’s body became sensitive to his every touch after that. Any time his hand touched her skin she would flinch or buck lightly.

Phoenix shivered violently when he raised her shirt and pressed his lips to her stomach, then just below her breasts. With one finger he raised the wire of the purple bra she was wearing and exposed her breasts. Once they were fully exposed he grabbed both sides of her waist and picked her up from the sofa.

Jamison sat her on his lap so that she was straddling him. He grabbed one breast in each hand and began to squeeze and massage them lightly. Phoenix’s head fell back, causing her to arch her back again. With her breasts directly in his face, only inches from his mouth, Jamison leaned forward and circled his tongue around her nipples.

Instinctively, her hands went to his head. She held it in her hands as he licked and sucked on her. His thick hot tongue had her body shivering nonstop. He alternated between licking and sucking until he reached up and grabbed both sides of her neck. He pulled her to him and licked and sucked around it as well. When she moaned again, he scooted down some on the sofa and repositioned her on his lap.

  “Look at me, Fe.”

She looked down and into his handsome face. There was so much passion and fire dancing in his eyes. She knew then that they were connected and feeling the same way about each other. Her arms were resting on his shoulders and judging from the way he was breathing and touching her, they were no longer doing the friend thing.

“You’re everything that I’ve been searching for.” He grabbed her head and kissed her mouth hard. Phoenix was right with him, matching his fervor. “Don’t make me wait anymore.”

Phoenix shook her head. “We don’t have to.” She leaned right back down to continue kissing him.

They kissed passionately until he stood up and carried her down the hall to his room. He pulled his covers back and lay her flat on the bed. He stood above her and removed the rest of her clothing, followed by his. When he was naked as she was, he leaned over her and grabbed one of her legs wrapping it around his back. He looked down at her beneath him and licked his lips.

“You sure about this? I don’t know if I can hold off my feelings any longer,”

“I’m sure. I don’t want to hold off either.” Phoenix grabbed both of his toned biceps and gripped them. “I’m sure, Jay,” she said a little quieter.

He nodded before leaning back and grabbing a condom from his drawer. They both watched as he slid it on before taking his place back between her small thighs. When he was comfortable enough, he slid in slowly. Jamison wasn’t the biggest man, but he wasn’t the smallest either. He was a lot bigger than Jamar, and a tad bit smaller than Ollie. Being that they were the only other two men she’d been with, that was all she had to compare it to.

She held her breath as he slowly filled her up. He held onto one of her legs as he held himself up with the other arm. Phoenix helped him out and wrapped both of her legs around him so that he could use both of his arms. When he leaned down lower and began to grind slower, Phoenix began to moan continuously. She had both of her arms wrapped around his large back as he moved.

“You want me, Phoenix?” He pushed deep and her eyes popped open. “Huh? You want me?”

She nodded quickly hoping he would pull back some. He was in so deep she could hardly move.

  “All of me?”

She nodded again and kissed his mouth. “All of you.”

Jamison closed his eyes and went back to working her body. Out of all three of the men she had been with, for some reason, Jamison felt the best. He was so skilled and attentive to her body. He made sure every stroke or touch he delivered that she was satisfied with it. She lay there allowing this man to make love to her. Her mind and body felt the best it had felt in ages, and all she could do was clamp her legs tighter around him and give him her love.

“Oh shit, you squirt Phoenix?” He sounded like he was in disbelief.

Phoenix nodded with her eyes closed. She could understand his shock, but she was trying to catch her breath. With him still moving, bringing on orgasm number two, Phoenix moaned loudly in his ear. He followed her and groaned roughly as he slammed into her one final time. It took him a minute to get himself together but when he did he lifted off of her and kissed her nose.

  “I love you.”

Phoenix’s eyes opened lazily as tears fell out and rolled down into her ears. “I love you too, Jay.”

He kissed her face until her tears stopped before rolling off of her and lying back on the bed. She scooted until she was lying with her head on his chest. He rubbed her back as he always did until they fell asleep. He stayed in bed with her for only a little while longer until it was time for him to get up for work. When he did that, they took a quick shower, she went to her room and he left for work. Neither of them mentioned their loving encounter again.

  Chapter 18

Jamar walked down the winding sidewalk to Aaliyah’s front door. His father had asked him to pick up his niece and bring her to his house for him. It was his night to keep her, but he hadn’t left the station yet. Jamar huffed the entire way to the front door. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to take care of his niece, because he did. She was probably the only woman in the whole word that he could say he loved at the moment.

He had thought he had feelings for Phoenix, but he wasn’t even sure that’s what it was anymore. He cared about her wellbeing, but that was about it. He rang the doorbell and waited for his sister to come to the door.

Between her and his father he didn’t know who got on his nerves the worst. Ever since his mother and sister had passed, they’d become even bigger pains than they had already been. He’d always been more of a mama’s boy anyway, because his father was always showing his sister’s favoritism. That only worsened when his mother was killed in a car crash.

After realizing he could only depend on himself, that’s what he did. He looked to the streets for what his father didn’t give him. It worked for a little while, so he maintained, but once he started to get bad he took a step back. When Rocko called, him asking to come down to Florida for a little while, he jumped at the opportunity. Had he known what he was walking into, he would have stayed where he was.

“It’s about time you got here.” Aaliyah snatched the door open and walked away.

He ignored the fact that she didn’t invite him in and took it upon himself to follow her anyways. He could hear his niece before he saw her. Her voice softened his attitude momentarily, but it resumed the moment he laid eyes on the nigga Aaliyah had sitting on her sofa. His face frowned and he got hot all over.

“The fuck you got this nigga sitting up in here for?” Jamar pointed at Ollie.

Aaliyah looked around and frowned her face up at him. “The hell you mean why? That’s my boyfriend. He lives here.”
>
“Yo boyfriend?” Jamar said in disgust as he got closer to Ollie. “You the same muthafucka that was fucking with a lil chick named Phoenix, right?”

Ollie stood to his feet in front of Jamar. He kept a safe enough distance between them for the baby’s sake.

  “Yeah I was,”

“I knew I recognized your bitch ass.” Jamar could tell by how heated he was getting that he indeed felt more for Phoenix than he cared to acknowledge.

“Jamar calm your hot headed ass down. He’s an undercover cop just like me.”

A disgusted frown adorned Jamar’s face as he looked between Aaliyah and Ollie. “You a fucking snitch too?” He shook his head. “I just can’t get away from y’all muthafuckas.” He barked as he turned to leave.

His niece jumped up from the floor. “Am I going with you, Uncle J?”

He nodded his head and picked her up. “Yeah. I ain’t gon’ leave you here to turn into no fucking snitch.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck as he headed up the hallway and back out of the door. Before he could get all the way to his car he heard Aaliyah running behind him. So he stopped to turn around and see what it was that she wanted.

“I forgot to tell you we saw your bitch today,”

  “My who?”

“Phoenix.” She smiled. “She was with another man at the park down the street from Daddy’s house.”

The rush of hot blood that surged through Jamar’s body could have warmed up the entire world if necessary. He gritted his teeth and turned around. He walked a little faster this time, trying to get to his car. Aaliyah was the biggest bitch he ever met and if she wasn’t his sister he would have killed her.

He didn’t understand why she enjoyed causing him so much pain. It had been that way for years. He guessed since their father showed her so much attention, she’d started feeling herself. She would act just as mean as his father. The two of them eventually brainwashed his other sister and she began acting the same way. That’s why he hadn’t even bothered to attend her funeral. It would have been fake and that was something he wasn’t so he kept his distance.

He thought about Phoenix the entire ride to his father’s house. All of the time he had been thinking about her and wondering was she okay, she was with another nigga. He wanted to act like it didn’t bother him, but it did, and he hated it. By the time he got to his father’s house he had made up in his mind that he was going to find her.

Even if he had to stop at that park every day until he caught her. He would. Jamar took a few deep breaths and got out of the car. He helped his niece out and walked her to the door. Her little hair blew in the light wind as she trotted behind him. He knew his father was home now because his car was out front, so he rang the doorbell.

Francisco came to the door with his normal glass of Brandy and a smile when he saw Alexa. She ran straight to him and hugged his legs. Clearly she loved his old rotten ass. Jamar could understand why, if he treated her halfway as good as he’d treated her mother.

“You knew Phoenix was with another man?”

Francisco stopped his cup in mid-air and looked at Jamar. “Hell no. I don’t know where she is. Who told you that?”

“Liyah and that bitch ass nigga she be with told me they saw her today at the park down the street. Said she was with some nigga.”

  “Neither of them recognized him?”

  Jamar shrugged.

“No, son, she didn’t tell me that.” His shock was genuine and obvious, so Jamar believed him. “That bother you?”

Jamar shook his head. “Not for real,”

Francisco didn’t look like he believed him, but he didn’t plan on sitting around to figure it out.

  “Aight then, I’m out.”

“We’re going to be going to court for their plea deals soon. So when I see her, I’ll let you know.”

Jamar almost took that as his father looking out for him for once in his life, but he dismissed it. He was too old to still be clinging to false hope. He dapped back to his car and got in. Things in Florida were getting to be too much for him. He either needed to hurry up and find Phoenix, or head back up to Georgia. One of the two because he was bound to lose his mind staying in Miami.

  *****

Phoenix’s hands were sweating profusely as she sat in the hard chair of the visitation room. With the encouragement of Jamison, she had finally built enough courage to go see her boys. She had an appointment with Zino first and one with Bear two hours afterward. She rubbed her hands along her pants for the thousandth time as she waited for Zino to walk from the back.

The other inmates had just begun to file in, so she knew he would be coming soon. All she hoped was that she wouldn’t break down and cry the whole visit. She hadn’t seen or talked to any of them in months. She looked from one side of the room to the other as she scanned through the inmates, searching for Zino.

She didn’t see him at first, but it was hard not to once he finally he came in. Taller than most of the people in there he stood out. She hopped out of her seat so fast it flipped over and ran to him. He grabbed her as soon as she got close enough to him. He picked her up and hugged her as tight as he could until the guard came over and made them take their seats.

  “Twinnnn!” Phoenix cried.

“What’s going on, Fe?” He smiled at her. “You look good, baby girl. How you been? Then told me you were out.”

She wiped her eyes and nodded her head, but more tears reappeared. “I’m so happy to see you. I’ve missed y’all so much. I don’t know why they let me go, but they did. I haven’t looked back since. I don’t want to question it.”

“That’s good, twin. You don’t need to be up in no hellhole like this. Jail ain’t for you, sis.”

“It ain’t for none of us.”

  He sighed.

She grabbed his hands and held them in hers. “I stayed strong. Never said a word.”

He smiled at her. “That’s good. Tone would be proud. I ain’t say shit either, twin.”

They shared a brief laugh before Phoenix was right back at it. “I’m going to get y’all out of here.”

Zino looked down and shook his head. “Don’t worry yourself with that, twin. Just live your life. We’re good. You know we were built for this shit. Jail ain’t no thang to us.”

“I need y’all out here with me. I was so scared without y’all. I didn’t know what to do.”

“Well whatever you figured out, it’s working. You look good, twin.”

Phoenix looked away before squeezing his hands again. “I met this guy.” She smiled through her tears. “He’s so amazing. He was one of my guards when I was locked up. When they let me out one night, he picked me up and took me to his house. That’s where I’ve been ever since. He takes care of me. He was going to come here with me but they called him into work at the last minute.”

“What you know about this nigga, Fe?”

Phoenix’s smile disappeared. “I know he’s good to me. “

“Is that enough to know? What do you tell him?”

Phoenix frowned. “Nothing. I don’t tell him anything,” she lied.

She had told him a lot of stuff. She’d let her guard down so many times with Jamison because he was so easy to talk to. She didn’t feel the need to hide things. Though she’d never gone too far into detail about stuff, she still told him some things here and there.

Zino looked straight at her. “Just be careful, twin. That’s all I’m saying. He may be a good guy. Just make sure you remember what you were taught. You can’t let that shit go just because we’re all split up.”

  Phoenix nodded. “I haven’t.”

Phoenix spent the rest of her hour with Zino before he was taken back to his cell. She had twenty minutes before it was time to see Bear, so she sat at a different table and waited. It felt like forever, but he when finally came out, she greeted him just the same as she had Zino. They sat down, and Bear rubbed his hand over her face.

  “How you feeling, lil
’ mama?”

“I’m good, Bear. How are you?”

He shrugged. “You know me. They can’t hold a real G down.”

Phoenix smiled at him. Aside from Tone, he was the only other father figure she had. “What’s going to happen, Bear? I know you know. You always do.”

He looked at her and gave her a crooked smile. “I don’t know, Fe, but whatever it is, we gon’ be aight. Don’t worry.”

Phoenix had known Bear long enough to know that he wouldn’t show his feelings. Even if this was bothering him, he would never tell it. She spent the rest of her visit with him trying to get information. The only thing he gave her was that he and Zino would be going to court for a plea deal and he wanted her to be there.

Phoenix told him she wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world before kissing his cheek and leaving the jail. She felt sad, but happy as she left. She had been missing them and seeing them had made her feel so much better. However, she was still a tad bit sad because they weren’t leaving with her. She hadn’t been told anything about a plea hearing until speaking with Bear, so she assumed she really was free.

Whatever it was, she was grateful for it. She hopped into Jamison’s car and headed back to his house where she stayed for the rest of the day. She lay on the sofa thinking about all of the possibilities of what could happen at the plea hearing. All she could do was hope for the best.

Little did she know, she wasn’t the only one thinking about it. Across town, Ollie was sitting in his living room with the exact same thought process as her. He had just popped two Tylenol and was rubbing his forehead. His head had been hurting ever since Aaliyah’s brother left. He hated that nigga and everything surrounding him.

All he did was add to the stress that he was already feeling. He was due to speak at the plea hearing and he really wasn’t feeling it. However, he was glad that after this, he would be free of the entire case. He was ready to move past it all and move to another city. Hopefully get a job transfer somewhere he could start over.
