Coyote's Revenge

As she looked out now, she could see her way, see the trail in front of them. She didn’t know exactly what lay ahead, but she knew she could trust the man by her side. He had proven she could believe in him.
She knew, without a doubt, Aiden and her father both loved her very much.
Enough to die for her.
And enough to live for her.
A girl couldn’t ask for more. Such was the weight of love. The depth of their feelings reminded her of Mama’s quilt on a cool Texas night. She knew then that love was a precious thing, a thing not to be taken lightly. It was a weight worth carrying, up and down a mountain. Up and down the hills of life.
The last three months had taught her to believe in destiny, then to throw herself toward her dreams with everything she had. Once she got off Mt. Gould with Aiden and her father, that was exactly what she planned to do.
AIDEN GLANCED OUT OVER the group of friends and family. His brother Nate gave him a thumbs up. Sharon had her arm through Bix’s, looking quite pleased with herself. Apparently her parents had grown accustomed to the idea of their daughter dating a renegade musician, or perhaps after the tragedy in Virginia they’d all learned the value of family, of love, of letting the unimportant things go.
Everyone on the golf team was wearing a suit, something Aiden thought he’d never see. They stood together as a group. The trip through Glacier had bonded them into something strong, something that would probably last through the years and the life changes to come.
“Ready?” Martin asked. Who would have thought that his commander had his license to perform weddings. But there it was. Life continued to be full of surprises.
Aiden couldn’t have personally ordered a more perfect day—trees budding, a slight breeze cooling the sweat on his neck, sunshine peeking through the surrounding forest. He’d thought Madison might pick a more traditional venue, but it was her idea to hold the wedding on the grounds of his home.
The violinist began to play, Martin stood up even straighter, and Aiden looked up to see Madison appear at the back of the gardens, her arm tucked through her father’s, and she looked...she looked resplendent.
She glanced up and the smile didn’t settle across her lips until she’d found him, until he’d given her a smile and a nod, assurance that he was all right, that he was waiting at the end of the aisle.
“I’m not sure what she sees in you,” Dean murmured.
“That makes two of us.”
“But I’m glad you found each other.” The teasing left Dean’s voice as he suddenly grew serious. “You deserve each other, after what we’ve all been through.”
The country was pulling itself back together.
Aiden had reconsidered his decision to retire.
There was still work to be done, still threats to their national security, but it wasn’t work he had to do today.
Today his only job was to begin the rest of his life...with Madison by his side.
