Before I could even open my mouth to speak, there was a loud commotion coming from somewhere outside the library, followed by what sounded like a massive explosion. All of the library’s front-facing windows quaked in their frames and then suddenly went dark. In broad daylight!
“What the hell was that?!” I gasped as I tried ducking behind Zayn’s protective frame, my heart suddenly racing in my chest. Looking up at him for answers, I noticed he was wearing the most severe expression I’d ever seen on his face until then.
“Ah, shit… They’re here!” Zayn said between his gritted teeth, holding out his right arm to protect me from what lay ahead.
